Tai Calon’s Failure in Duty of Care: A Tenant’s Account
I am extremely disappointed with the way Tai Calon handled serious repair issues in my home. About 5 years, I reported a back door that was completely swollen from damp and black mould — so bad it couldn’t even be opened. On top of that, my front door was broken and unsafe.
Despite raising these issues multiple times, Tai Calon failed to act. Shockingly, I was told I would have to wait a year for these essential repairs. It was only after I took the matter to social media, Environmental Health, and eventually the Ombudsman, that any progress was made.
Even worse, I discovered that Tai Calon took direction from social services, who are supposed to protect children, and chose not to carry out my repairs — an appalling lack of duty of care for a household with children.
In the end, I had to push and fight for everything myself. No one should have to go to these lengths just to live in a safe and healthy home. I wouldn’t wish this experience on anyone.
