Honestly its a shitty bank. Its only good for no fees but I also get why because the service sucks and they have incompetent people working in customer service. Block account so frequently and holds f... See more

Terrible bank to bank with they alway…
Terrible bank to bank with they alway lock you out of your account. I got frauded after getting locked out and the person who was calling was calling from Tangerine bank phone number, and they will not refund the money and they expect me to pay. The scammer also took money out of my savings account over $3,100 and they won’t refund that either.
I have a USD account
I have a USD account - essentially a USD GIC at Tangerine, but Tangerine refused to issue for me a T5 statement in USD (even though that's what box 27 on T5 is for). Instead they issued a T5 in CAD using the Bank of Canada average exchange rate for 2024. In this way they deprived me of the option of using the conversion rate(s) in effect on the day(s) the interest(s) was credited which, according to CRA is my right. So I ended up with an inflated, fictional interest income on my T5, and won't be able to file my taxes online since I have to explain this inconsistency to CRA in writing .
Over the years I've had USD GICs at different Canadian financial institutions, though not at the big five banks which I try to avoid doing business with as much as possible, and they always provided T5s in USD automatically, without asking.
This is the first time I encountered such corporate arrogance and intransigence.
As someone already said of such corporate entities, as far as they’re concerned, you, the customer don’t exist — you’re just a number, some bits and bytes moving through their data centre, nothing more. They set up their systems in a way that is the most profitable for them and they won't deviate from it, so don't try to disturb or inconvenience them.
I would rate 7 more stars if possible
I would rate 7 more stars if possible. They gave me 300$ atop when I issued the direct deposit statement. First banking institution to ever do that asap. Sign up and await the lack of disappointment
DON’T BANK HERE, CAN’T CLOSE ACCOUNT ON BEHALF OF YOUR LOVED ONES
My father recently passed away and I was in charge of overseeing his affairs. I found a tangerine bank card and called to inform them that my father had passed away and that I needed to close down any bank accounts he had. They asked me for his log in info, client ID and telephone banking password to which I said I didn’t know any and only know the bank card that I had on hand. After asking for my late father’s name and telephone number, the rude customer service rep tells me he can no longer help me any further and that I needed to gather the information he asked earlier in order to him to continue. I told him that my father has passed and I have no other way to get more information. I asked to be passed to an estate department or manager and I was told there is none. I asked if he could just let me know whether my father even had an active account anymore and he said he couldn’t help me any further. He just kept rudely repeating the same words, “I cannot help you any further, call us back at a later time when you have a client ID and telephone banking passcode”. How the fk can I do that when my dad is dead. It’s not like he left a note with all his log in credentials to every site he has ever been on. Worst customer service ever. I have been to all 5 big banks to deal with my dad’s affairs and not a single one of them gave me any issues.
A fraud was committed in March 2024
A fraud was committed in March 2024. In April, I was told the investigation was completed. Three weeks ago, while trying to complete an unrelated transaction, I learned that thousands of fraudulent dollars was still showing on the Tangerine card I destroyed last April. Horrible service: hours to get a live person; hours to get to someone who can help; zero proactively and responsiveness after three weeks. I’ve emailed a senior executive and no reply. Absolutely the worst customer service and experience imaginable
Stay far away
I have the same issues that many on here have experienced. 3 weeks and still trying to get my verification done, they keep sending me emails after 5 business days to tell me they need more documentation. Also, I set up my pay to go to the account and now the money is locked in there. Cannot transfer it out and close the account. Customer service line don't help at all.
You will get better service from hackers
Well, just before the holidays my account was compromised. Not their fault, shit happens. But trying to get this resolved was a nightmare. 10 phone calls, no call back weeks without news.
I miss the days of ING
I actually called back the hackers to get better service.
Run away this bank will fail
I filled an online form to get a Tangerine mastercard; they asked me to call for some verification; they could not even pick up the line for me to GIVE THEM my money! I waited hours without success.
The app also stopped working randomly when i tried to see my request status so good luck knowing your balance in the future i guess.
Im almost grateful they never picked up; I saw these reviews and understood right away that if i ever had a problem with this card I would be left in trouble for a long while; thanks Tangerine!
Switching to TD
I should have read these review before signing up. I am unable to access my account despite providing my relevant docs in various formats. Horrible experience so far, on par with most Canadian banks.
Horrible hotline.
Horrible hotline.
I tried calling them multiple times only to wait over 90 minutes on the call. I tried different times of the day as well. If it's a bank that doesn't have branches they should have a good call center at least. I will be canceling my credit card and closing the account.
"digital" bank
"digital" bank
I made an account and deposited my payroll, could not access the funds! spent a couple of days trying to get on the phone with someone - they said I need to physically receive my card & activate it to use my money, defeats the entire purpose of a digital experience. Anyway, closed the account.
Tangerine closed my account out of…
Tangerine closed my account out of nowhere while I was traveling on the highway I couldn't even pay for gas as they shut my debit card off 🙃 I was completely stranded when I called them.and explained my situation they said there's nothing they could do for me! DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS HOAX OF A SO CALLED BANK!
If there's a zero star I would rate…
If there's a zero star I would rate them. Their customer services sucks, their security team is like taking forever. I can't access my account and can't withdraw my money. So i uploaded the things that needs to upload but still they asked some documents. I understand the fact that they just want to make sure but the thing that I don't understand is everytime you upload documents it will take 3 business days. My account is not accessible for a week now.
After months of waiting for a card- way…
After months of waiting for a card- way pre- postal strike- it never arrived BUT they did have the courage to spend money on PUROLATOR to deliver me a letter with NO card attached and told me to activate the card - what card? They also gave me the PIN number who fb will take you a few minutes to figure out but how the heck am I supposed to activate a NON physical card. Then I read this is part of Bank of Nova Scotia- so not sure how this is all going to pan out. As of now I’m not impressed. I signed up in October never received a card, and haven’t put money in because I wanted to see reliability- why would I deposit money into an account where I had absolutely NO card? I wouldn’t. But as we wait- no hit is coming- I will not be doing any transactions until I have a physical item in my hand that at least gives me the power to withdraw all my money should I need to.
The Worst customer service
The Worst customer service!
I Waited more than 1 hé to talk to their customer service and they Hung Up on me! And never call me back
THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CLIENTS
Minus 5 stars
WORST bank with horrible customer service. I was a victim of a scam and instead of helping me out, they blamed me and restricted my account. Tried to order a draft to get my money out of that dumpster they call a bank and they cancelled it without even notifying me. Every time I call they put me on hold for 30+ minutes, ask the same 2 security questions, then transfer me to another department where I'm left to wait on hold for another 30+ minutes. Nobody knows what they're doing there. One time I was actually hung up on after finally getting through to someone and waiting on hold for almost an hour. I'm convinced my funds will be tied up in this "bank" for months. Worst banking experience I've had in 30 years. They DO NOT care about their clients or helping you and they DO NOT know what they're doing. "Bank" with them at your own risk.
Scam if you use their credit card
I got this credit card because I wanted cash back and it was good at first.
Then, I got married and went on a honeymoon, and my credit card utilization went up to about $7000 that month. Throughout the month, I slowly paid it off, by the end of the month (the credit card statement date), I only owed $500 on my card. Yet they still charged me interest as if I still owed the full $7000 on my card. According to them, they charge you for the entire amount that month, and it doesn't matter what you pay off, unless you pay every single thing off. I've never used a credit card that worked that way and I never will again.
I called twice to Tangerine to asked…
I called twice to Tangerine to asked why I cannot access to pay my online credit, my bank was linked to my account to Tangerine and they closed my saving account without my knowledge , so anyway both customer service cannot help me. I'll try to pay with my credit card or asked them to take out from my bank automatically. She said NO.. I have to send a bank draft monthly whereas before I can pay it thru my external bank account with no problem...BUT now I can't do it. To solve this problem IS..let their IT work on it.
From Rosana
NO WAY.
Signing-up, I got to where they wanted my SIN #....(red-flag!)
