DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD HERE

Please do not send your child to this school. My daughter has attended TEA for four years, and it wasn’t until 3rd and 4th grade that the truth became impossible to ignore: the administration is shockingly incompetent, dismissive, and disturbingly willing to cover up serious issues.

I have personally caught the administration hiding camera footage of other students assaulting my daughter. Today, they went so far as to tell her that if she told me about another incident, she would be the one suspended. Let that sink in—threatening a child with suspension for reporting mistreatment to her own parent.

I have emailed, called, and physically gone to the school multiple times to address these ongoing problems. Every single time, the administration has done everything in their power to minimize, deflect, or bury the situation. The Upper Elementary Dean even shrugged off a physical assault with the dismissive line, “Well, kids hit,” as if that somehow excuses violence or absolves them of responsibility.

The level of negligence, dishonesty, and outright disregard for student safety is staggering. “Disgusted” doesn’t begin to cover how I feel about the so‑called adults running this school. They have repeatedly failed my daughter, and I would not trust them with any child’s well‑being.

Room for improvement

Very high turnover rate of the staff is unacceptable. Feels as though this school is being used as a stepping stone for educators. I think that when a teacher has committed his/her self to lead a classroom, they should at the very least finish out the school year. We've had three teachers quit mid year in the eight years my kids have attended, and that's just the ones we've witnessed first hand.
The dismissal routine at T.E.A. has much to be desired as well. Safer for the students, yes. Eighth mile long lines on the public street in both directions creates a very dangerous situation for the parents waiting to pick the kids up. I've lost count how many near miss incidents I've seen at the entrance of the school. Plus with the new routine, I find it difficult to simply converse with my kids' teachers. Some of the teachers feel the same. It was nice to have that relationship, albeit for only a moment each day, but we were really able to get to know one another and address any concerns we may have had.
No complaints on most of the staff that seem to be there for the long haul. In fact, I can think of a few teachers that I'm sure would be on par with the best in the state.
T.E.A has the potential to be a great school, but until they figure out how to hold on to the assets they already possess and solve the dismissal issues, I can only call it a good school.

Very good school

Although there are definitely some things that need improving, overall, TEA is an excellent school. My daughter has had great teachers so far who are very involved, and invested in the growth of my child. I am more than satisfied with the main curriculum and my daughter is constantly showing improvement.

We love the staff here.

It isn't often that educators take an interest beyond the classrooms. TEA however does. From the teachers to the admin staff they get to know their families and so themselves relatable. All three of our kids attend TEA and we as parents love it. They are challenged academically and morally. The staff are quick to respond/act if there is ever a concern or issue we have had and do so in a considerate manner. Highly recommended!

Staff turnover negatively impacts the learning process.

Staff turnover negatively impacts the learning process. More diverse staff (males, people of color) is needed.

Teachers leaving

To many times school starts teacher leave and to much time goes by before a new teacher is assigned amounts in to much lost time for students

Awesome

This school has been a God send for my son. My son has been at this School for 3 years and every one of his teachers went above and beyond to make sure my son was successful. All staff we encounter greet my son by name and that makes him feel at home at TEA.

An excellent school.

Taylor Exemplar is a wonderful school. My oldest has been attending since 2010 and now my youngest attends the school as well. This school encourages all the students to be the best they can be and help them develop many skills for the near future.

The best decision I ever made for my child

My son has gone to Taylor Exemplar Academy for 3 years now and I have never regetted the decision to send him there. I love that the school focuses on moral lessons and gym/art/music as much as they do academics.
