Serious construction defect requiring full rebuild within days of closing
We recently built with The Builders Group (TBG Homes). While parts of the process were positive—especially the design, drafting, and warranty team—we cannot say the overall experience met expectations given a serious construction failure that followed.
The master shower had a floating bench installed incorrectly, which failed on first use and caused a fall, while also exposing additional construction concerns. Multiple independent contractors we consulted separately concluded that the shower required a full demolition and rebuild due to structural and waterproofing failures.
This issue occurred just 9 days after closing, well within the 1-year warranty period. Despite that, there was disagreement over the necessary scope of repair, and only partial solutions were proposed that did not resolve the underlying defects. We ultimately had no option but to coordinate and fully fund the entire rebuild ourselves.
We were without a functional primary shower for a year in a brand-new home, resulting in significant disruption to daily life, substantial unplanned expense, and extended inconvenience that could have been avoided with an appropriate repair approach.
While we are generally satisfied with the home itself, this experience significantly impacted our overall satisfaction and confidence in how major construction defects are handled after closing.
