How ignite ruined my life

So I was at ignite for about 2 years, the hell I went through is indescribable. I'm a pretty regular guy but my parents sent me because they were getting divorced and didn't know how to deal with an angry 15 year old. But of course ignite doesn't care because they are only around for the money. They treated me like a criminal I couldn't even use the bathroom with the door closed. I work in a grocery store behind the counter getting minimum wage because I couldn't learn the life skills I need to get a good job. My life is completely ruined and its all thanks to the wonderful staff at ignite(who are random teens that they picked up from the streets). There's not much I could do at this point but I don't want what happened to me happen to others.

Trust

They say surrender to the process that you have to trust someone.
How are you supposed to trust this program when every time you open up to the therapist about something you did, and need to talk about it, all they do is get you in trouble and punish you, then the next time you need to talk, your supposed to trust them.trust is a lot of thing, but not this. Put trust into the people that steal your money, NO .I came in here with a wallet and left with a empty wallet, that nobody took responsibility for. But trust them. The mentors here don’t follow the rules but want us to follow the rules. I hope you make the right decision to get help somewhere else but not here

Terrible experience wouldn’t recommend

So I’ve been at ignite for almost 10 months, and they didn’t change me at all. In fact they are very unprofessional and always contact the police when not needed the worst 10 months of my life were spent at ignite teen treatment

It was the worst experience of my life…

It was the worst experience of my life we barely got any food and when we did it was poor quality they made sure that my life was hell but lied to my parents saying that I need to stay there longer there were a lot of mentor's that would have a bad day and then take it out on me I would not recommend sending your kid there

Honest straight up facts

I was in ignite for a while and I'm not gonna say a lot, just that it's not a professional place and I don't want to get in to details but if I was you I would stay away from it, good luck

Ignite is incompetent

Ignite is not competent in dealing with complex cases and they lack the integrity to admit and refer clients out. My sister has been in the Ignite system for over half a year now and she is still at square one without a diagnosis. They are very persuasive and reassuring about the care they offer especially with parents who are most desperate. Most of the staff are not qualified enough to deal with certain issues and some have no inkling of mental health at all. If you are looking for a treatment center worth your while seek a place with affiliations such as to a hospital, find out about their credentials, and make sure they are evidence based and specialize in the care you need. Most of all keep searching for the right place and people for help and don't fall for business schemes.

I read incorrect and manipulative…

I read incorrect and manipulative jargon that seemed more reputable initially. However, they kept saying things like “effects are benign” or “our qualified professionals” when they didn’t explain how they were qualified. Sites like this are what make it difficult to search the web for reputable sources and lead people to uneducated decisions.

Parents pay a lot for these programs

Parents pay a lot for these programs. Extensions without parental input are illegal. One employee lied about saying the program was closed last year. I agree that intensive programs are essential but oversight is crucial but spot inspections are not allowed and that is illegal. There is a Patients Bill of Rights. This is not allowable.

We looked at a lot of facilities for our son. What made us choose Teen Treatment Center was how secure we felt the center was. There's a lot of work to do still, but I think we're on the right path. Treatment isn't cheap (at least it wasn't for us) but it may be depending on insurance.

Not much patience on staff part, just expulsion

We have had our son in the program and were very much reassured by everyone who called to solicit him into to the program how wonderful it was but then in the space of one day we were given the option of transferring him[48hrs] or picking him up in 24 hours. He did go AWOL which is bad and should be dealt with strongly but everything was over. Even after we were told that such acts don't usually necessarily merit expulsion. A place of this nature should be able to deal with such behavior for a first time offense. We could not even talk to him about what reason he had to do it[I don't think there is a good reason]. The team decided he's out. I really understand some people should be expelled but a warning to the parents of trouble should proceed immediate expulsion. So what does a parent do when they are over a thousand miles away and have 24 hours to get your son? I am very, very disappointed with how they handled this and wouldn't want another parent to go into this without warning what may happen in the space of a couple of hours literally.

Complete turn around!

My daughter's behavioral problems were creating a huge rift in our relationship. She was hesitant to go to the teen center at first, but came home a more open minded and understanding person. We have our ups and downs but the teen center helped her to have a new perspective on life.

Highly recommend.

My son has greatly benefited from the support from the court liason staff. My husband and I were running out of options and felt helpless in handling our son's addiction and behavioral problems. The teen center has given us new hope and our son a new outlook on life and the future.

Thank-You

My daughter and I are very grateful for your patience and support that has helped her get back on track. She's back in school and doing much better. She mentions that she often receives texts and phone calls checking in to see how she's doing. We're happy to report good news.

Celebrating 6 months!

My son and I are celebrating 6 months clean this week. We never thought it would be possible. The teen center worked with both of us to improve our relationship and fight his addiction together as a team.

teencenter saved my child life!

I sent my daughter to the teen center as last effort to get my daughter off drugs. I had her in other programs with no success in fact her drug addiction. Got worse. I thought I had lost her to drugs, I didn't. Even recognize her anymore, but the teen center not only got my daughter off drugs but help her through. Her issue to why she started doing drugs in the place. My daughter is drug free, and back in school, and spend spare time volunteering. I can't. Thank teencenter. Enough for giving me back my daughter.

First Step to a sober life

It's been a year since my son left treatment. Their are no words that can express the gratitude and respect we have for the staff. Without them I wouldn't have my son back on track. They gave him the tools and motivation to move forward to live a sober and happy life. Great facility and staff.

Would not trust my loved one with this Unprofessional staff. I tell everyone I know to not call them..

The Treatment center did basically nothing for my child. Yes, he was a bit uncooperative as I am sure most people getting 12 hours notice that they are being sent away would be. They lied, told us they would escort my son to the airport for us to pick him up in NY on his arrival. When we would not agree to extend beyond his 45 days agreed upon and leave him there through the holidays. They basically told us to come get him ourselves, the day before Thanksgiving. They would not help us at all.
They are not professionals in any way shape or form. They mixed my sons file with another child and called to deliver news to us that was for another child. They are basically funnelling kids into this center, abusing their insurance, sticking him in a room to discuss his feelings in group 6 out of 8 hours in a day. NOT A GOOD PLACE FOR SUBSTANCE ABUSE TEENAGERS. i would love to see their success rates..

Since your comments, we have continued to improve our treatment program and have hundreds of teens that have completed successful and are on their journey of recovery. We know that 45 days of intensive care is the start of the recovery process and encourage our patients and families to make long-term commitments, whether continued stay at The Teen Treatment Center or with aftercare programming back at home. We know that longer care, provides the most optimal chance at maintaining abstinence. Our programming is designed to keep our patients and families engaged, while restoring their family and learning how to have a life worth living.  With patient privacy in mind, if you would like to discuss any further details please feel free to reach out to me personally, and I would be happy to speak with you. - Angela Bustamante, Executive Director of Teen Treatment Center
