Time to try another brand....

I purchased a replacement flysheet direct from Terra Nova. After only a few years, careful storage and very little use, the seam tape on the new flysheet has failed (maybe 10 nights in total on mountain adventures, having conciously used the older flysheet still for more casual camping). Happy to accept that sometimes these things happen, I sent the flysheet back to Terra Nova for repair. I soon received a short reply only to hear that there is nothing they can do and seemingly had very little interest in retifying the issue in any way. I was shocked at how poor the customer service was, sending me back a few short disinterested and dismissive emails. Reading a few of the other reviews here, this seems like a common theme.

To hear that the flysheet is already a write-off with limited use, gives me little confidence in terra nova as a high-end contender brand anymore. To directly quote the Terra Nova website……. ‘Award-winning products that perform in any condition and stand the test of time’…… ‘Our main aim is to create products that last; it’s not uncommon for our tents to last up to 30 years!’ …. ‘We also offer a repair service, to help keep our tents in use for as long as possible’. Is any of this actually true????; especially, given that at the first sign of a niggle a few years in, I sent the flysheet instantly back to the manufacturer for professional repair, only to receive a negative response. Not great news for a trustworthy British brand; or is this perhaps yet another brand that lives off prior historical reputation and success, despite letting standards slip.

Most dissapointing of all was the customer service.

Great products. Terra Nova gear is in my opinion the best. It’s well made and considering the modest initial outlay most items will last a lifetime giving outstanding performance. I’ve never had to have anything replaced under warranty but I understand the customer service is fair to excellent. I wouldn’t change my two tents for anything else on the market.

The item I ordered was quickly delivered and was ‘as advertised’ and of very good quality.

Ordered an advertised product and after a delay was informed it wasn't available - it is still being advertised.

It would have been happy if I 'd had been offered a discount on a future purchase but no, so just disappointed really.

Arrived promptly with no damage. Invoice and instructions included.

I was able to put up the tent fairly easily and quickly.
It looks sturdy and reliable.

First off I've not had the helm 2 not been camping yet but I have had it up in the garden, The tent I bought is what they call a grade B , reduced price due to defects of slight second hand /ex display , the repair work is of a high standard and I am very happy with the tent , I did send an email to customer service before purchase and they replied prompt even though it was a standard reply , I am very pleased with the service and my purchase

The quality is very good, easy to set up, strong in construction.

Purchased the Limited Edition 40th Anniversary Quasar tent from the Terra Nova website as it was on sale even though I live in Australia. The process of purchasing was very stressful and unpleasant, first a glitch on the website which prevented the deduction of the VAT and the site informed me that I would be charged ~96 pounds to ship the tent to Australia. Given this glitch I organised the free shipping to a relative in UK following which I was informed by Terra Nova they can do VAT deduction if they ship to Australia. I emailed the company to try to find a better solution due to their website glitch but found myself in an even more disappointing situation: no reply to my emails and no apologies for their issue. I always consider good business to communicate with their customers to help them navigate an issue. This sadly has been far from the case here.
