Would give -5 stars if possible

Would give -5 stars if possible. Tried to resell $150 textbook through Barnes & Nobel website. In small print at the very bottom of the page it says they use textbooks.com for their buybacks. Figured Barnes & Nobel was involved so it would be ok. WRONG. Wish I'd seen the other reviews here first. No information was provided with the quote that they do not accept textbooks that have even MINIMAL use, so I sent my textbook that had two pages that were slightly curled. 2 weeks later instead of getting the price I was quoted I got an email saying I was getting no money because the can not accept books with any signs of wear whatsoever. Though the book was sent in a plastic envelope with plastic bubble wrap inside, they alleged it had water damage. Just to make sure they were covered in case I called them on that lie, they included a line in the email saying "We are unable to accept books with even minor water damage, including ruffled pages or any stains". So they now have a $150 textbook and if I want it back I have six days to send them $8.96 shipping and handling for the privilege of them returning it. Nice way to get free textbooks to resell to Barnes and Nobel. Don't expect any help from Barnes and Noble either. I spoke to two people who were totally clueless before I got to a supervisor who said I have to deal with Textbooks.com. Think we all know how that's going to turn out. AVOID BARNES AND NOBEL FOR TEXTBOOK RESALE!!!

Non-Existent Customer Service

I tied to reach out to customer service within minutes of purchase regarding an order that I had placed, after realizing that I had ordered the wrong edition. I just wanted to switch ISBNs. No response received back. After not receiving a response, I purchased the correct book from somewhere else. Better off paying a little more than having to deal with a company like this. Now I will have to pay for shipping in both directions of this book...and from what I am reading sounds like getting a refund will require serious effort. Why do they bother even pretending to have customer service on their website?

If I could give 0 stars I would but the negative feedback on here is so true wish I read it before buying from them. They take ur money and don’t give u access to the book. I firmly believe they r writing the handful of positive emails for their website as I see I now have the same issues as the negative comments. How dare they do this to students. I will be reporting them to the better business bureau and letting PayPal know they r scamming people. I hope they read this review….how dare u do this to college students u should be ashamed of urselves. How do you live with yourselves doing this to students with very tight budgets. I hope they force you to close your website to save others the headache I had to deal with,

Dissatisfied Textbook User

I bought the ebook online, put in the code and was only able to open the front page, after I contacted them with the issue, they sent me an auto response about opening and putting in the code, which is not the issue and I have not heard from them since. I had to spend more money outside of Textbook.com to get access to the book just so I could get my homework done. Haven't heard from them...still.

Don't buy from these people

Don't buy from these people! Some of my students bought their ebooks from Textbooks.com but found that they were missing several chapters from the text. They contacted the company, as did I, and were told that that file is what the publisher gave them. My other students with ebook versions of the text had all chapters so I'm sure this isn't true. They did nothing to compensate the students. They had to purchase new copies from elsewhere - and get this, they had all the chapters in them. I would never recommend doing business with this company and I will always keep a warning in my syllabus so that future students can avoid getting ripped off.

I am sorry for your poor experience! While we do get all our ebooks directly from the publishers and do not have the equipment to edit them in any shape or form, the fact that multiple students were ordering ebooks with missing information is suspicious. Can you provide the order numbers for these students and the ISBN of the title you required them to have? I'd be happy to look further into this issue and see if we need to contact the Publisher for providing us with faulty ebooks.

Deceptive Selling Practices-Buyer…

Deceptive Selling Practices-Buyer Beware. I received an advertised very good book with writing and damaged. I reached out to them and they told me I was responsible for return shipping and the shipping charge of $8 for a book was not refundable. The book was sold as "not as advertised". I caution anyone buying books from this site- it's a scam.

I'm sorry you had an experience like this. If you could provide your order number, I would be happy to look further into this as that is not our normal policy.

False advertising!

You think you’re purchasing a specific e-book title that clearly states to be read on Vitalsource Bookshelf, only to be scammed and discovering you were instead charged for a Pearson+ 4 month subscription service on Pearson‘s website. Not an e-book!

This website is a totally piece of crap scam. I needed a philosophy text book and went to find one online because I work best online and they scammed me. I called back two hours later and they said they were closed… f*do them, praying on college students who are already in more debt than they should be. Special place h*ll for those scumbags

Scam Stay Away

This company is all kinds of messed up. Between misrepresenting items as ebooks when they are really paying to be in a study group, why? to the scam with buying books. The book I sent back has been sitting with them for well over a week. When I inquired about it, they claim they are not paying because the access code is not new, even though you cannot buy the same book from their site with a new access code. So, they are not paying me and had no intention of sending the book back. If I want it, i have to pay 9 bucks to get it back, which I will. Now just waiting till someone lets me know how. SCAM. STAY AWAY.

Thanks so much for your review. I don't know what you mean about study groups, but all our ebooks are purchased from the publishers and should be downloadable. As for buying books, we do clearly state that any book with access you sell must come with a usable access code. Usually, if the text itself has value, it will be listed when you create your buyback quote. I am sure that someone will be in touch with you soon. We appreciate your patience while we process paperwork.

Scam Artists Preying on College Students

My son ordered a textbook PDF on January 2, 2022. The download link they sent him did not work. He emailed them the same day informing them the link didn't work. They have not responded to his email as of today. They took his money though. They're pretty quick with that. He ended up getting the textbook PDF through another website. The textbook PDF cost a bit more on this other website but at least he received a working download link. I also emailed textbook.com today. Whether or not they respond to my email, doesn't matter, I have already contacted our bank to dispute the charge to get the money back. Scam artists.

I had to pay return shipping for their wrong item

I purchased a hard cover, used textbook from this company and they sent me a loose leaf version. I advised them that I received the wrong item and they send me a form advising that I need to arrange and pay to pay to ship their wrong shipment back to them. They send me the wrong item and I have to pay to return it?

Hello Sean, Thanks for sharing your story. I was able to look up your order and it seems that you did place an order for a LL (loose-leaf) version of the item, as we do not carry the hardcover book that you desired. Though it is customary for a customer to pay for return shipping when they received what they ordered, our agents should have offered you a complementary prepaid label to you for your confusion. I will have one sent to you today.
