Bad handling of personal data - Account deletion ignored for weeks
I had a very disappointing experience with textguard.ai regarding the deletion of my account.
There is no clear account deletion function available, so I contacted support and asked them to delete my account and personal data. Instead of resolving the issue, support initially refused to delete the account. After a long back-and-forth, I was finally told that my account would be deleted manually.
However, three weeks later, I am still waiting for this to happen.
In my view, this is not an acceptable way to handle user accounts and personal data. Users should be able to delete their accounts easily and transparently. I am writing this review to warn others who care about control over their personal data.
Update: 05/18/26: To be more concrete: Support request id: 603247
Some citations after requesting deletion:
"According to our database, your subscription has been successfully canceled so you wouldn't be charged for further periods."
[...additional conversation to force deletion by setting due date]
Your account deletion request has already been forwarded to our IT department for processing.
The exact timing can vary depending on their current workload, so we cannot guarantee a strict 48-hour timeframe, but the request is already in progress and being handled.
You will receive confirmation as soon as the deletion has been completed.

After reviewing your case carefully, we want to sincerely apologize for the confusion and frustration you experienced. Your account was deleted shortly after your request was made. However, at that time, our support team did not send you a formal confirmation. This was a failure on our part, and we are very sorry for the uncertainty and delay this caused.
Because your account has been fully removed from our system, we are no longer able to retrieve it or generate a retroactive confirmation. We cannot confirm the existence of something that is no longer there. This is why we initially had difficulty locating your account when you first reached out through Trustpilot — it had already been deleted.
Please be assured that your personal data is no longer stored in our system. We deeply regret that you had to wait weeks without proper communication, and we will use your feedback to improve how we handle deletion requests in the future.
Thank you for your patience, and once again, we are very sorry for the inconvenience.
