Sold my car to Andy via the Motorway…

Sold my car to Andy via the Motorway app. He said he would register my car as sold on my behalf, but didn't and got a parking ticket in the car.

I received the ticket and then after initially saying he’d pay it, he then went completely ghost.

Caused my a lot of unnecessary stress having to sort this issue so I’m not liable for the £70 fine. I’ve had to write and send letters to the DVLA and to the parking ticket company, and this is still ongoing.

Avoid

I bought a Peugeot 3008 on the 28th of June for £11,469.00; I was advised the car had Full-Service History. When the car was delivered, I was told all the paperwork was in the car, when checking in the car the service book only had half the service history. The car also had a front parking sensor which kept randomly going off and knocking when driving. I informed Andy that I want to return the car as it’s not as described and he agreed, the car was returned on the 5th of July and then this is when the trouble started.

We are now nearly 4 weeks later, and I still have not received my money back. At first, I could not receive my money back as Andy was away, fair enough but he assured me my money would be refunded 10/07/25 when he returned, he did not refund. Since then, Andy has given me multiple “You’ll have your money by” but none of these he has delivered on. Then it became “We don’t have enough in the account to pay you” or “I’m waiting for a payout” but like most things I've been told by Andy, it doesn't come true.

They now don’t answer the phone, respond to messages or emails so I now have to go to Action Fraud and start legal action to get my money back. I have had weeks of no sleep with worry and stress and all I wanted was to buy a decent car.

Their website says “Five-star customer service, extensive checks and guarantees”, the only thing that should have 5 stars is the warning sign around their name telling you to avoid at all costs. When I first contacted Andy, I thought he was a decent guy, but I guess he fooled me again.
