A group of us vistedThe Cottage Loaf…

A group of us visited The Cottage Loaf Wirral today. It was possibly the worst pub food any of us had ever had. One example, the mushy peas were not only lukewarm but so tough you couldn’t get the fork in. The plaice hardly had any fish only skin and breaded crumb. Another person ordered scouse which she said was terrible not the word she used. The consensus of over 20 people was they would never return to the venue angain. Although it was mentioned to our waitress she said she would talk to the chef about the peas but not the fish as that was bought in. So a very disappointing get together.

Tasty meal

Just had supper here. Staff were pleasant & attentive. For supper I had the burger which was moist & not overcooked. The sauce & pickle that came with it were delicious. The pudding I chose was the chocolate tort which was light & fluffy in texture. All in all a lovely meal. Unfortunately the noise level in the bar was a bit to loud for me to stay longer.

Really great atmosphere

Really great atmosphere, set out well , service fantastic… personally I wasn’t a fan of the food ( I ordered ) … I had the steak pie 🥧.. it is not an individual pie but a very large slice of a larger pie .. it is literally packed with steak which some might love , but all at our table that ordered it (4) found it rather dry . An individual , puff pastry , more moist braising steak option is my preference( moisture within) … you do get nice gravy with it which helps…. Also the mash was not quite rich enough .
But would I go back … abso-blinking-lutley !!!!!

Great pub stop

This is a Greene King Pub with pub grub. Clean, tidy and the Staff were very helpful, friendly and pleasant. We used as pub stopover in our motorhome. Good prices and BLC friendly. Road noise died down around 8.30pm and no rowdies.

Ordered the moussaka which sounded nice…

Ordered the moussaka which sounded nice .
To my shock it was like a bowl of cheese soup . Overpriced and no substance to it . As per usual no one seemed bothered . Would have had steak but was told it had been taken off the menus as far to many complaints. Used to recommend this place all the time .
Going downhill fast while prices soar !!!!!

Not great value for money. Disappointing

I had lunch here with my son yesterday. I had a small fish and triple cooked chips whilst my son had the Loaf Burger. To be fair the serving staff were pleasant, the burger was, apparently, very tasty as was the tiny piece of fish (for ‘small’ read ‘goujon’!!). Despite the chips having been ‘cooked thrice’, they were still hard, as were the tablespoonful of garden peas which I ordered instead of mushy peas. Very overpriced for the portion size. When asked by two separate members of staff whether everything was OK, I replied that it was just OK and that we probably wouldn’t be returning. Neither were interested to find out why. I think if you train staff to ask customers whether they are happy with the meal, you should also train them what to do with a lukewarm response.

Wow! Brilliant!

Wow! Brilliant! Fast, friendly and efficient service from the staff. Well priced and food beyond compare. I haven't tasted fish and chips as good as this since my mother in law died 15 years ago. It is very much a must visit restaurant but remember to book well in advance because it is very busy. I am going to thank the person who recommended it to me.

Brilliant place

Brilliant place. The have an outdoor seating at the front, inside pub style area, behind this a dinning area and to the side of that, another out door seating area. Lots of room. Do not allow dogs inside, but outside they do. Menus has a variety, good food, drinks are pricey and food can be, but it's all cooked fresh and is very tasty. Never enough staff on the bar when it's packed so expect to wait. It seemed faster when it was table service. It's a nice place to eat, drink, chill and relax. On a hot day double bonus with out door space. I visit here at least five times a year. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend eating here.
