Exactly what I’ve been looking for

Exactly what I’ve been looking for in an acting class: an instructor who knows what he’s doing, a supportive environment, challenging my comfort zones with pick up, being redirected in a collaborative space. Very professional but also a great time.

Can't get enough!

After so many negative experiences at workshops and classes, feeling pressure to impress and not mess up, The Actor's Yard has been a breath of fresh air!
Everyone is super welcoming and supportive and each class feels like a really collaborative experience.
Having done mostly screen work, I was nervous to be thrown into theatre script, but the enthusiasm and passion for the craft and the text shines through each class and is infectious!
The classes are affordable and flexible and mean you can feel free to attend whenever best suits you.
Highly recommend for any working actors looking to flex their creative muscles, challenge themselves and play! It's now a staple in the diary each week...Can't get enough! :)

The Actors Yard is truly a special and safe place for any professional actor to keep flexing their muscles, make brave choices in the craft and NOT be afraid to fail. It's really reminded me, to dare is to do.

Dean creates a very unique environment. It's amazing what you can come up with by taking direction and testing out different choices. It's definitely picked my confidence back up and made me ready for the next audition. Highly recommend.

Actors, this is it.

I’ve wanted to find something like this for years. Truly a Mecca for Actors in London. Affordable enough, regular enough, and of the highest standard. All whilst remaining so welcoming, inclusive and challenging. Check this place out if you simply want to DO the work.

Want to keep your actor skills and spark alive? Try this.

Such a fantastic workshop. This is the first one I'd been to since graduating from Drama school in 2020. This class is a great refresher of the craft and a brilliant opportunity to make mistakes and try things out. It has always been a highly non judgemental space (for real this time, not like when people say its a safe space but slag people off when the class is done).

Dean is a gem and his passion rings through the session. Couldn't recommend him and his workshop enough to any actor wanting to keep their craft alive.

A workshop you won’t regret

Finding a place where I feel like I am stretching my craft as an actor while also remembering the joy is rare.
If you know the monotony and disappointment of self tapes and auditions, then finding a place like The Actors Yard which reminds you why you started, develops your craft and let’s you know how it should feel is fulfilling.
Can’t recommend this place highly enough.

The best acting class in town!

The best acting class in town!
The Actors Yard is a fun, supportive and thought-provoking class for professional actors to flex those creative muscles and keep the cogs turning! I have been attending the Wednesday sessions in London Bridge since autumn 2021, Dean is a fantastic leader, he has an incredible passion for the craft and a great knowledge of all things theatre! Would highly recommend!

Actors Yard has an open

Actors Yard has an open, non judgy format and atmosphere. Scene partners are randomly picked so you get cronies banding together. I liked the diversity of material selected, and got to perform some really interesting characters which pushed me outside of my comfort zone. Dean is a sensitive and kind tutor with a talent for acting himself and I'm guessing a leaning for Direction too. I would not be surprised to see him producing/directing stage productions in the future, so it might be good to get some of these very fairly priced sessions with him now before he gets too successful

Just pucker

It's like I really didn't know how much I wanted this experience until I had it. Anyone on the fence, take the leap, you won't regret it. Total safe space with nothing but support exuding from facilitators and participants.

This is a little gem of a class

This is a little gem of a class; Dean makes you feel completely at home, creating a very warm, non-judgemental atmosphere, incorporating a physical and vocal warmup and choosing some really juicy scenes to work on. It's hard to find workshops in the big smoke where one can feel truly safe enough to pick up a scene you haven't read before, make choices and fail- I will be coming back!

Excellent class 10/10

Brilliant class - Dean is an excellent facilitator, has wonderful instincts as a director and creates a really relaxed environment to be able to play in and make bold choices. It’s such a warm and inviting atmosphere, free from pressure. The choice of scenes to study was cracking, and the other people in the room were a joy to work with. 10/10 would absolutely go again.

Best class in London!

Its hard for me to describe just how much I love this class, or how easily I'd recommend it to any actor currently working. I can easily say this one of the best classes you can find in London right now and you would be a fool to not give it a try yourself. The short time period to learn and rehearse your scene can feel a bit daunting at first -especially if you feel a bit rusty post covid- I know I did. But the process is actually freeing and it forces you to really collaborate and listen to your scene parter, to remain in an open and exploratory state with the scene, it stretches your line learning and textual analysis muscles and it just plain makes acting fun again. The industry and all its elements can feel very fatiguing at the best of times and I know I got a bit lost and jaded a few times over the years but this class reminds you why we chose this career in the first place-to play and to create! I have done some of my best work in this class and I have also done some of my worst, but what matters is this class allows you to explore and make mistakes, there are no egos! Thank you Dean for running this class, see you Wednesday at 11am. X

Fantastic class & community

A fantastic class for actors to really practice your craft. You will be paired up with another actor and work on a scene before performing to the group. Dean has a natural ability to bring out new discoveries and he’s always supportive and encouraging. I would recommend this to any actor who is looking for a community of like-minded people.

The Actor’s Yard is my favourite acting class in London. Dean’s ability to facilitate scene work, alongside his expertly nuanced approach to dissecting a scene, should be experienced by every working actor. The Actor’s Yard is an excellent gym for actors to drop into to fine tune their craft and continue creating in a fresh and unique environment. Strongly recommend!
