Extremely helpful.

I saw Dr Calissano for several appointments and found the sessions to be extremely helpful and got me through a tough period in my life. The person who I spoke to when making the booking was friendly and very helpful and she made me feel at ease as this was quite daunting for me. Should i require any follow up sessions I will be sure to return.

refusing to provide refund after THEY cancelled appointment

Giving scam. Really disappointing experience. I booked online with a therapist using their calendar and she then emails me to say it isn’t actually available. I have called the office 3 times and left voicemails to issue a refund as we were unable to book in. Now down £200 pounds and no therapy hahah. Really unfortunate considering I tried to do something to better my mental health and no one is even attempting to giving me back my money 😂

We are very sorry about the upset and frustration we caused you and apologise again for this.

I understand that you used our online booking system to reserve an evening appointment. Due to an problem with our online booking system, the 19.00pm appointment you booked had just been reserved by another person but the system had not yet updated itself and it still appeared available.

This was a technical issue and we have now removed the booking system from our website to fix it.

Following on from your booking, the Psychologist, Dr Asiye Busra Sirin Ayva, contacted you to apologise and to offer you a different appointment, which was on the same evening and date but, an hour earlier at 18.00pm.
This different time was not convenient and you asked to cancel the appointment.

When you contacted our office for the refund we did not respond quickly and, understandably, you were left feeling let down and worried about the payment you'd made.

I believe this happened in the days before Christmas and, unfortunately, we had some sickness in the office and people on holiday. These absences should not have affected how we work and, more importantly, you, but, on this occasion it took us longer to resolve that normal and we are very sorry for this.

We spoke with you the following day, when a full refund was made. As means of a further apology from us you have accepted the offer of a free therapy session and we hope this is something that will be helpful for you.

I would like to say sorry and apologise to you again for what happened. We genuinely try to do things in the right way and, in truth, most of the people we help don't leave reviews. Their therapy is something people often feel is private to them and they don't want to share that journey.

Your experience of the first steps of getting help are just as important and it is especially upsetting that we couldn't help you get past that stage.

Refusal to issue legitimate refunds and didn't communicate with me or my therapist

After charging me for a whole months of sessions I didn't attend (despite ample notice to my therapist and him notifying the company) they charged me an extortionate amount of money with little regard for my inquiry as to why I could not have it refunded. They refuse to pick up my phone calls and respond to my emails and obviously have little interest in helping people and just want to take their money. Thoroughly disappointed in an organisation that claims to pride itself on wanting to improve people's mental health and ends up creating unnecessary financial strain.

Dr Emma Gray

I started seeing Dr Emma Gray because I wanted some help with a specific problem. However what she did in a relatively short time was to give me the tools to view problems - and ultimately myself - much more clearly. I feel like a weight has lifted and I’m able to be a happier version of myself.

Dear Laura,
I am sorry you had this experience. This is awful to hear and we do take this seriously.

I can see that you booked an appointment using our online system only to be told that the time you wanted was not available. We offered you some alternatives, including appointments one hour later. This was our error and I'm sorry that it happened. The therapist you'd booked with had to change their appointment time on that day due to a personal emergency.
We contacted you immediately to explain the time issue and offered you alternative appointment choices. None of these were convenient for you unfortunately.
We fully refunded your payment on the same day.
We are sorry that you were let down by us and am glad to hear that you found help.

Dr Emma Gray

Dr Emma Gray really helped me come out of a hard time. After 6 months of therapy, I have come out so much happier and more insightful on both why I felt like I did and also how to deal with it in the future by myself. She is a highly intelligent and experienced therapist that I would highly recommend.

Highly skilled, effective therapy

Dr Emma Gray first helped me manage a stressful situation at work. She is a great listener, but also very practical and pro-active. I quickly realised that the problem that brought me to therapy was the tip of the iceberg. Dr Gray patiently helped me deal with anxiety and indecision in other areas of life. Now I live more authentically and have a range of strategies for when things get difficult. I cannot imagine a more effective therapist than Dr Gray, and I would therefore highly recommend her.

Life changing

Dr Emma Gray has helped me look at life through a considerably clearer and simpler lens. I had no idea how much harder I was making life just through my own thoughts and behaviours. It has been truly life changing and although challenging at times I now understand myself better than ever. Thank you so much.

Kind and Knowledgeable

Dr Gray seemed to immediately get a good grasp of my situation so I didn’t need to repeat myself. She explored my difficulties compassionately. She clearly knows her stuff but doesn’t come across as intimidating. I was pleasantly surprised by how comfortable I was made to feel throughout the process from booking to feedback.

Very unprofessional and useless

Very unprofessional, didn’t give any advices or plan of how things should go, let us to talk and just reaffirmed what we were saying without helping understand the matter or the issue.
Very unhelpful. I wouldn’t give even 1 star. Just waste of time and a lot of money.

I am so sorry that you feel like this and would like the opportunity to put this right for you. We had no idea that you weren't happy with your appointment. We would have loved the chance to put it right at the time it happened.

If you felt able to talk to us directly I am sure we could have found a better therapist for you and we would have offered to cover the cost of that second session so you could try it to see if the match was good.

Please do contact us if you'd like to discuss this further and try a replacement session without cost.

Thankful!

I cannot recommend Olga highly enough! Her professionalism, knowledge, skills, support and character have been fundamental to my growth over the past 4 months.
Through working with Olga I have learnt a huge amount about myself and have gained understanding and clarity not only about the roots of certain issues but also how to continue to manage them today and in the future.
This process can be painful and daunting, however Olga really made me feel extremely supported and comfortable. I actually looked forward to my weekly sessions and always felt strong afterwards, even if a session covered difficult ground.

Many thanks!
Megs

Thorough and enlightening

My experience with the British Counselling service has been extremely thorough and enlightening. My counsellor, Dr Olga Konstantinidou, was patient and compassionate with everything I said and experienced; in every thing I said I felt not only understood, but safe from judgement. I was also sent information documents with comprehensible explanations of disorders and behavioural patterns to help me understand the more complicated aspects of therapy. I would recommend this service to anyone!

Good plan in theory but not executed

This was supposed to be a schema-based couple therapy but did not bring any schema awareness to my partner.
We also did individual therapy which was supposed to be coordinated with the couple one, but it was not.
Overall a huge investment of time with little result and many wasted opportunities to make progress or bring awareness.

I was not very happy with the services…

I was not very happy with the services by the British CBT Counselling Service. My son had therapy in 2021 and being under age my expectation was for the therapist to communicate and provide guidance to us parents. Without knowing progress, I requested information on the diagnosis in order to find out about progress and make an informed decision about continuation of treatment. I was told that this incurred in a cost as the therapist had to use time to type up notes - this had a charge which was sent to the insurance company. To my disappointment, the 'report' was very light and no longer than 200 words. This is not professional and certainly not worth of a charge when all health providers issue letters outlining condition of the patient and progress. As a result of this poor report and due to the lack of communication with us parents we decided to stop the sessions.

Paula, I can only apologise that we didn't meet your expectations.

Even when we meet a child of a family we still have a legal and regulatory responsibility not to disclose information discussed within the appointments to anyone outside of them (regardless of who that person is).

If we receive the right permissions we are more than happy to provide whatever information is required, which we did, in a structured way which is an assessment report.

To avoid the need for a report, and to keep a parent informed throughout the therapeutic journey, we always encourage parents to enter into the process and join some or all of the sessions. This gives you a real insight into what's happening and is the ideal way for us to communicate with you.

When a therapist produces a report it often requires more time than is easily appreciated.
The therapist has to give an a breakdown of the presenting problem, the type of therapies used and why and their assessment of the patients mental health before and after treatment and their recommendation for the future. It isn't sufficient to submit their notes as these do not contain that type of data.
It may seem insignificant but this does take considerable additional time outside of the appointed sessions for the therapist and office staff who liaise with the insurers on a patients behalf.

With regards to how we communicated with you and the guidance we gave. It is our responsibility to implement the boundaries of therapy and work in the way which our training, regulatory bodies and the law dictate. Privacy and the sharing of information outside of the actual appointment is at the heart of this and we have to have a structure to give information which protects and supports everyone - this is what we followed.

I believe that we could have found a solution you'd felt happy with if you'd given us the opportunity to do so but I am appreciate that our processes should have allowed you to feel more comfortable in asking.

Again, we are sorry that you weren't happy with the service you received and are thankful for an opportunity to address your concerns.

Very professional and ethical. I asked for them to help me with a Court Report which they informed me they can not assist with. Court reports are lengthy procedures and the child needs to be interviewed alone. Friendly service.

I'm very sorry you were left disappointed with the service, this is the last thing we want to happen.

As I understand from our records you booked a 'normal' 50 minute therapy session with us via email when instead you required a specialist assessment and report for a court case. We weren't made aware of until after you'd had the session unfortunately.

We explained that we were happy to provide the assessment and court report that you required, however, before we embark on a court report we need to know the specific questions which the court and you need to be answered to ensure that what we provide is useful and inline with the court and families needs.

Again, before we start we would then provide you with a bespoke quote for that piece of work which explains the process, the time needed and the costs involved.
This is an essential part as it means you get the information you need in an appropriate time and format for the court and that we do not embark on regular weekly based therapy, which takes a very different path.

I appreciate that our apology and explanation wasn't sufficient at the time but we remain sorry that we weren't able to meet your needs and help you.

We would be happy to discuss this with you if you'd like to.
