Scammers. Nothing else. They have renamed from Theconnected and forced lifetime users to pay additional money. On and on they have just closed all LTD users accounts. And kept all money we paid before.
Is Secure Calendar or EncryptedWork.com playing games?
Encryptedwork.com recently:
1) Changed its logo on TrustPilot to an almost identical one as used by Secure Calendar.
2) Changed its company name on TrustPilot to Secure Calendar. This has now reverted back to encryptedwork.com
3) Changed the URL links on its TrustPilot logo and 'visit this website' button so it directed to the domain syncmycald.com. This has now reverted back to encryptedwork.com
By coincidence, the URL links on Secure Calendar also sends you to the same domain syncmycald.com
Comments on TrustPilot have noted that Encyrpted Work has had various names in recent years e.g. Connected.app, TheConnected and UseConnected etc.
Encryptedwork.com has received terrible backlash following their decision to scam their lifetime deal customers (LTD). I, alongside a huge number of other customers, invested hundreds of dollars in this company. I now find my data is being held hostage behind a $99 a year paywall.
Do not purchase this product. They don't honor their terms/pricing.
I agree with what others are saying.
I originally purchased TheConnected (now called Encryptedwork) via a lifetime deal. Now they have deleted my 100GB space, unless I pay $99/yr.
I realize these lifetime deals are start-ups offering a deal for funding. And the company my go belly up. But to delete people's files unless they pay a yearly fee is extortion.
I have never been threatened to pay or have my files wiped by DropBox, Box.com or PCloud. And these companies are offering many of the services TheConnected/Encryptedwork offer.
While my payment is likely lost, I hope you won't do business with a company that will hold your files hostage.
EncryptedWork (originally theConnected.app) sold via Appsumo as a lifetime deal seems like a scam. Their registered address is in London but they are not on Companies House. They are holding my data on their platform that cannot be downloaded any more and they do not respond to emails. They threaten that all lifetime customers from Appsumo will lose their account should we not start paying an annual charge. They have already made me pay on an upgrade offer before. Everyone I insist please report to cyber crime. I doubt if there is any Stephan Grell on whose behalf the warning emails are being sent.
Known as "Encrypted Work" now.

1. Inappropriate TOS.
The SaaS provider reserves the right to add additional service charges where required to cover additional costs incurred whilst providing the service to the customer.
Such additional service charges can apply to existing monthly subscriptions, annual subscriptions or previously purchased lifetime licences.
Failure to pay said service charge(s) will result in termination of any pre-existing subscription license or lifetime license and immediate termination of the service provided by the SaaS provider to the customer and subsequent deletion of any customer data held on the SaaS providers servers, storage devices and databases.
According to TOS 11 above, they can ask you pay more fee before their due, otherwise cancel your service anytime.
This means all offers are not reliable. We pay for a not certain service.
2. Terrible successor?
Mail from Stephan Grell:
We recently purchased the technology platform known as Encrypted Work. ....... In our commitment to sustainability and fairness, we have decided not to offer any "lifetime licenses" as they are not financially sustainable. ....... According to ToS 11
"Any accounts not signed up to a service charge will be marked for expiry starting 21st December 2023 as per the Encrypted Work Terms of Service (TOS)."
Well, after purchasing a company, a good owner needs to fix problems, deal with existing customers, kindly explain what situation we are facing, how we plan to deal with it, what promise you will give us, what could we expect, and for these, what should we do / what you expect us do,
Existing problem should be take into consideration while you purchase the company.
But not simply "since it is unfair so pay more or you lose everything"
Even more, "you have no choice but decide in 3 days"
How could we trust a company do things like this?
Along with previous "hey chance to UPGRADE your existing license" mailssssss, this looks more likely to be a series of well-designed easy scam.
Beware of this.
theconnected.app and their head technologist Stephan Grell changed the terms of a contract we held demanding ADDITIONAL payment within seven days for a previously negotiated deal. Our account was threatened with deletion if the additional payment was not made within seven days. Ask yourself, do you want to rely on a company that does business this way? What will be the cost to your company for engaging with such business practices?
I'm writing this review to help others avoid the same trap and avoid buying a complete piece of garbage. The founder has no difficulties sleeping or moral conscience for that matter. After changing out the name to Encryption Work while retaining the same url theconnected.app, he went to launch on other ltd channels, collecting his bounty before screwing his early adopters with an offer of $99 yearly to keep his scam alive. There are other software developers and founders with better ethics that we can support. Save your money and avoid this piece of trash. I rather let my account die then keep the founder's dream alive. Meanwhile, I'll let Karma do its job.
In late 2020 I paid $nnn for lifetime service. In early 2022 I paid a forced migration fee. Days ago they announced an yearly fee (changed values, whatever they can get), and today they say the company is under new ownership. Even in June they were selling lifetime plans with 750 Terabytes (not Gb). You have been warned.
Avoid absolutely everything this company offers. They find new excuses every year to squeeze additional money out of their customers.
On top of that they threaten to delete all your data if you do not pay the amount they demand.
These guys rebranded themselves as EncryptedWork.com.
I can only advise to stay away and never trust these people. Same as other reviewers. Deleted without notification, no response, no sense of responsability.
Always milking customers to upgrade with Lifetime Deals that don't make sense, but never reply a query.
Be wise and stay away, it was no glitch, they are just shady.
In short: don't trust products created and managed by IAN GILLET, GEOFF COLE, TRACY and ANDY.
What the heck? They just deleted all of my files without telling me with no warning. When I reached out, there was no response from support.
They deleted without notice 3TB of my data in what was referred to me as a "transition" to better secure their technology side. These folks are a joke. They care more about their tech than the data od their users. Read the email below and the flippant attitude of "sometimes you need to crack a few eggs". Your data is the least of their concerns.
Our company ethos has been and always will be one of continuous improvement. As we move forward we are making major changes to our secure vault
storage. This is to enable us to implement an industry-first double-blind encryption technology, launch our Desktop Sync Client and is necessary so we can offer both Google Cloud storage and AWS storage
options as our technology matures.
To implement these changes it is necessary to remove the existing storage back end for Vaults, as such please ensure you download all files you wish to keep from your vaults by 3rd April 2023 to a local device, this is when we plan to implement the upgrade.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused but as they say, you can't bake a cake without breaking a few eggs.
Following the upgrade, please delete your old vaults, create new Vaults then re-upload your files.
We really appreciate your cooperation in this upgrade.
All the best,
The Encrypted Work Team.
The product is good.
//UPDATE
Randomly deleted files that were stored. I would not recommend this platform at all. Years of irreplaceable information and material gone. Terrible service.
My Baby Boomer Clients can use it!
I needed a way of file sharing that was easy to use. Most of my clients are in their 70s so it has to have a great interface that is easy to understand.
I've been using this app for a year now with no glitches.
Everything was going fine until there was a mixup with my email and my account got downgraded. Customer Support was able to fix it and we are back up and running now.
This is a fantastic app and well worth the money. I was paying for another tool previously that cost more money, was more difficult to use, and couldn't do the file sharing easily.
This is a great buy. Get it and you'll see.
This software has been excellent for my team and clients. I own quite a few encryption apps and platforms, but this one has been easiest to get my team on board fast for clients sign up with me. The emails alone are worth the price. It's a must for anyone that exchanges passwords and other vital information.
Everyone needs this!
This facilitates all our security and file transfer needs. Security is such a big issue for us and this solution gets it right - without it believe me you are only one hack away!
One of the most beneficial features for our company has been that we’ve been able to add our own branding and logo. The generous amount of storage offered is just a bonus.
The team at Connected have been extremely helpful and have answered any questions with a speedy response.
Love it - keep up the good work guys.
