Add ons too expensive
The whisky and the service are usually good but the add ons make the price prohibitive.

Will never overspend on whisky again.

The Grand is always a good place to buy whiskies that are no longer available in shops. The website is easy to navigate. Service is always quick.
My only criticism is the cost of insurance for delivery, had I opted for it, the cost would have been half the amount my whisky cost.

In short having used them for the first…
In short having used them for the first time and spend just shy of £3000 to have received a badly packaged and damaged bottle, considering I paid for insurance is not good. This was resolved with minimal quibble however If I want to know a little more on a bottle im about to bid just under £2000 on, then the phone manner should be a little better. The ladies that work there are lovely. But the one gentleman in particular should have handled it better. I found him to be a little rude and dismissive of the fact that there are counterfeit bottles so I’m doing my own due diligence by asking if the seller is reputable, not asking for personal information. I have used much larger auctions and purchased bottles over £10,000 so im absolutely going to ask some history on that. The problem is how he handled the conversation. The market is not good and whisky value is dropping so look after your customers!
They continue to give a great service.
Fast Valuation
We have an old single malt in the house and thought it would be worth getting a valuation - sent images of the case/bottle to TGWA and within ten minutes they came back with a no obligation free valuation
On this occasion we have decided to keep the bottle but in future would have no problem whatsoever with TGWA brokering the deal
Very impressive indeed
Bottle arrived damaged. Terrible customer service
1) Bottle arrived damaged, presumably when packed by them as it was fine on the auction lot page. GWA agreed
2) Communication from them was extremely poor throughout. Lacking any direction or process of how to resolve this issue. After a day of emails I accepted a refund if they arrange collection of the bottle
3) Collection had to be rearranged as they did not inform me I was required to print a label to give to the driver
4) They incorrectly calculated my refund amount. Once I chased them they corrected this
5) Despite them saying the refund would be paid 48 hours after receipt of bottle, I had to chase them again after a week. They then processed the refund which took another 4 days
GWA clearly can't cope if there's an issue with the auction transaction (which was their making by not packing the bottle carefully). Whoever I was emailing didn't have a clue what they were doing. It must be easy to run a Whiskey Auction if this is the standard
UPDATE since reply: I didn't write a review for my first order because your service didn't warrant one. There wasn't a problem, but like many other reviews, your delivery costs are very high so I'd give 3*. 3/5 is the minimum I'd expect and so not worthy of a review.
"A true account of the events below" or YOUR account of the events. There are 2 sides to every story. I did not question your response time to my email or have a problem with that. I had a problem with the number of emails required (23) due to your poor communication.
I think this GWA response to my review shows the lack of professionalism, which (after 23 emails) I'm not surprised

Reliable company with realistic valuations
The ease of submitting bottles for auction, and the total received was at the top end of the valuation. The money was paid out quickly and hassle free. I have used The Grand Whisky Auction before, and would do again. Very reliable company.
