I’ve become a regular at The Hive. They have created the perfect atmosphere to learn a new skill. Classes are never too big and they work with a range of really excellent teachers. This is more than just an art class, it’s a space to relax, be absorbed and to learn. They value high quality and that shows. I think it’s great to support local businesses too that are committed to being part of the community. Thank you Jo, Felicity and your teachers.

A lovely afternoon learning how to use silver clay to create personalised jewellery. The workshop was very hands on, was informal and welcoming. We worked in a small group of 5 students meaning we had a lot of support from the tutor. A lovely environment and tea & cake were included in the price.

I really enjoyed the watercolour taster session. It was fun and very helpful, inspired me to continue my efforts even though it was my first attempt. Teaching was friendly and non-judgmental. Tea and cake were a delicious added bonus. I would recommend this to anyone wanting a relaxing afternoon of creativity

Our experience
We love the Hive! The ladies are lind and accommodating and inclusive. The space itself is warm welcoming and peaceful. We been many times. My daughter does art and craft, we've done jewellery making together and I had my team Christmas do there
Everyone had the best time, learning how to create using different mediums and enjoying the Company. My daughter loves what she's learning amd even created her own comic book,mastered colouring amd shading and is now obsessed with jewellery making and what she learnt at the Hive. We highly recommend!

I’ve attended a number of art classes at a The Hive and would highly recommend checking out their calendar. There is something for everyone wanting to take up a new hobby or just do something they already enjoy. I’ve recently done an acrylic pouring class and I was amazed at what I produced following instructions from Emma Streeter. Friendly atmosphere with scrumptious cake

I found that the tutor was extremely good at explaining the each class, it is also a very friendly atmosphere meeting people of all different skill levels. I would also like to point out that the hosts of each of the classes are very friendly and welcoming.

Yet another brilliant course at the Hive Studio in Sanderstead.

I recently attended the silver clay jewellery making session and had an absolutely wonderful experience. Despite considering myself not particularly creative, I was delighted with how my silver heart pendant turned out – in fact, I'm wearing it right now! The teacher delivered the session with such patience and a calming approach that made the whole process enjoyable and stress-free. The entire visit was thoroughly engaging from start to finish. A special thank you to Felicity for providing cake, which was a lovely touch that made the experience even more memorable!

Absolutely loved the bookbinding course. Such a great venue and a brilliant teacher. It had been really well thought through, so everything you needed was there. Will definitely go back and do more.

I attended my first workshop at The Hive and it was absolutely brilliant. The instructor was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful, the studio was cozy, (tea and cake were promised and delivered on!), and I went home with my craft very satisfied with the experience.
The class size is limited to around 9 people but this is a good thing as you get a lot of help and opportunities to ask questions.
Facilities are very clean and have pretty much everything you need.
I will definitely be booking myself in for more workshops!

What an excellent place to spend a delightful couple of hours with good friends! We were 6 great friends, celebrating a retirement and birthday, wanting a fun, relaxed and creative activity; ‘The Hive’ fitted the bill perfectly! Jo and Felicity provided everything we could need for two hours of scenic painting, plus delicious homemade cake and numerous cups of tea. We couldn’t have planned it better! Thank you so much and we will be back!

I recently attended a one day course on the art of Chinese Brush Painting .
It was a very enjoyable day , with a tutor and other students .
The course was over 5.5 hours with all materials supplied .
We had a very learned tutor from the Chinese Brush Painting Society , and she was so informative and excellent at explaining the Techniques !
The Hive Studio is literally ‘’ A Hive’’
Of fabulous subjects and very varied .
Jo was most welcoming and very knowledgeable .
I would have no hesitation in recommending The Hive Design Studio
To students of all ages , something for everyone and so local and easy to access !

Knitting class run by Vanessa, she gave lots of helpful advice, demonstrations and plenty of one to one teaching.
Felicity and Jo are so welcoming, providing support with lots of tea and delicious cake!

Small friendly class run by a potter who has a love for her craft. Provided just the right balance of help/guidance and let us out our own stamp on our work. Great seeing everyone's creative efforts. Thoroughly enjoyable evening spent doing a taster of an craft I hadn't tried before.

An enjoyable evening working with clay for pottery taster class.
Staff were helpful and drinks and snacks available. Not too many in a class.

I have been going to the Wednesday morning Sewcial since it began. It is such a friendly atmosphere. Felicity and Jo are so welcoming and there is cake! We help each other when we get stuck with our projects. It has now become one of the highlights of my week.

Our 7 year old grandson loved the arts and crafts after school 6 week course .He created and painted some amazing things , especially his ‘spooky painting’
Felicity and Jo and helpers were always organised , welcoming and encouraging Would absolutely recommend to other parents and children interested in learning more creative activities using different mediums
