My experience with The Natural Adventure

This was my first cycling trip abroad so when researching and booking I wasn’t really sure where to start with so many companies to choose from. All my fears and worries were firmly overcome with the experience I, and my son, had with The Natural Adventure. Quite simply everything worked like clockwork over six days (apart from a minor hiccup on day one where the local bike hire company had a delivery problem but soon overcome and extremely apologetic). All the hotels were great, the App worked really well, the bikes were ideal, baggage transfer every day worked exactly to plan which surprised me!
The email support prior to and during the trip was excellent.
I now definitely have The Natural Adventure at the top of my list when considering my next trip 👍

An amazing cycling holiday in the Atlas Mountains of Morrocco which was extremely well organised by The Natural Adventure. We were picked up on time for every transfer, from the airport and back again and between Riads. All the staff were charming and couldn't do enough for us.We hopefully will be back and will be using the Natural Adventure for future holidays.

What an Adventure!!!

What an Adventure!!!
Even before we arrived in Morocco for our holiday, any questions we had were answered promptly. We were only a party of two cycling through the Atlas Mountains but it was an amazing trip. Lachlan, our guide, made sure we were comfortable with the routes we were taking. We didn't expect our lunches to be made and served literally in the middle of nowhere from the back of Ibrahim's van which was following with the luggage! The scenery (amazing), accommodation (traditional and comfortable) and food (so tasty and healthy) My friend and I have been telling everyone what a fantastic time we had. Would definitely recommend the Natural Adventure and will be looking for our next holiday with them.

The perfect adventure!

Victoria's been an absolute star! It's been great to be able to pick up the phone and speak with someone to chat through our plans. Everything was well organised and all the logistics went like clockwork. It really was the perfect adventure!

Rila and Pirin

We had a fantastic experience on the Rila and Pirin Mountains & Lakes trip at the end of August.

The itinerary was well planned, the information provided was clear, tracks, route instructions and transfers - all great.

Rila and Pirin were absolutely beautiful at the end of August, with great weather for hiking and spectacular scenery throughout.

The hikes are challenging in places, with some steep climbs and rocky sections. Useful tip - if you are doing this trip at the end of August - the mountains can become quite cloudy after around 3 pm, so it is worth planning your days to finish the main hiking sections by then.

Would happily book with the company again.

We booked a self-guided trip with The…

Edit to respond to na comment:
The company’s response is simply untrue.
* Misleading Advertising & Zero Vetting: Package photos showed completely different properties. We paid £200 per day for a "bespoke holiday" with supposed local expertise, yet received cheap (around£50/night), unvetted, and poorly maintained properties in 2 cases amounting to half of our stay. Applying 10 GBP discount without checking with us if we are ok to stay in a different hotel which turned out to be horrible (shirtless owner confronted me aggressively when I said that I don't want to stay in his hotel) isn't the way to handle late bookings. You should not be offering service you can't provide. You should not be charging for intenaries which have been unavailable for months prior (vide Astraka refuge).
* Unacceptable Conditions: The guesthouse was shabby, dusty, and smelled strongly of sewage, which I reported immediately.
* Inadequate Alternative: Their replacement didn't include breakfast and I was told I'd have to pay extra for it anyway.
* Broken Promises: I specifically confirmed with Natural Adventure that booking my own alternative was fine, and I was completely transparent about where I moved.
They are now refusing to reimburse us for the unused room and pay for the new. I am still waiting for them to provide instructions on how to escalate this matter using recordings of the conversations that took place. I spent half a day, tired after a long walk in a heat dealing with logistics, wasted another 2 hours looking for way of arranging transport due to wrong instructions on the package.
Natural adventures is simply lying claiming I didn't mention the smell and that I've not consulted the alternative. Cowboy like operations. I'm very much looking forward to escalating the matter and to having independent revision of the services offered.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that one of the accommodations did not meet your expectations. Because your trip was booked at short notice during a high-demand period, our primary accommodation option in Megalo Papingo was fully booked. As a result, we confirmed our secondary choice, Astraka Guesthouse, at a discounted rate. The complete accommodation details were included in the confirmation email sent to the lead booker, as well as in your pre-departure information. We are uncertain whether you have read this information, but if you had any concerns or objections, you could have contacted us at that time.

When you called to share your concerns regarding the guesthouse, you noted that the property was clean but expressed dissatisfaction with the overall standard and the Christmas decorations. At that time, no mention was made of any smell issues. Please note that the property reflects the standard level of accommodation typical for guesthouses in this area and Astraka Guesthouse is a traditional guesthouse with a special architectural form. Despite this, our local partners in Greece promptly sourced an alternative hotel for you. However, you chose to arrange your own separate accommodation instead.

Under our terms and conditions, we require time to thoroughly investigate formal complaints. You did not allow us the necessary time to review all aspects of your case before posting your complaint publicly. Because confirmed accommodation was provided and a prompt alternative was offered, we are unable to approve your request for compensation. The Natural Adventure team

Very disappointing cycling holiday

In July 2026 we booked a cycling and travel to some Spanish cities with The Natural Adventure (“NA”) and Otros Caminos (“OC”).
I’ll start by saying that I have only ever posted one negative review before this one and that we have been on a large number of cycle holidays so know what to expect. Also this review was sent to NA for comment before posting.
The hotels were largely fine (with one exception where the bedroom did not have aircon in very high temperatures) and our luggage was transferred without any issues so all good there. However …
We were charged £1,140 (€1,300) for 4 bikes for 4 days - over €80 per day. We queried this at the time of booking and were told that was the price. So we were expecting fantastic bikes. This was not the case. The bikes were very heavy which NA / OC said was required for the terrain. This perhaps would have made sense except two bikes provided for women of very similar stature were very significantly different weights. The lighter one was enjoyable to ride – the other a complete nightmare. NA / OC’s response was that “only one bike was available for a rider of 155cm, and the second bike was sourced from another supplier”. So beware as it looks like if they don’t have a suitable bike available they will substitute whatever they can get their hands on whether suitable or not.
After the end of the holiday, when we had established that the bikes were not fantastic and not worth the daily cost we were told that the bike cost was €460 and the remaining €840 were transport costs! While we expect to pay the transport costs from the end of the trip back to the beginning (approx. 130km), NA / OC’s told us that the bikes had been transported for 500km. This means that we paid about €625 to transport the bikes (around 370k) to where we got the bikes and back to wherever they came from. NA / OC’s comment was “It is uncommon to find bike rental shops in every small or big town in Andalucia” - we started in Granada and ended in Cordoba so not small towns in the middle of nowhere. As we try to go on holidays which are as environmentally friendly as possible had we known that the bikes were going to be transported 370 km we would have found a different holiday. I find €625 to be an incredible amount which NA / OC’s don’t seem to be able to justify except by saying that these are the costs and that we should have queried the charge before the trip – we did!
One of the bikes was fitted with a panier which was not suitable. When we took possession of the bikes the panier stuck in the back wheel, indicating that there was an issue. The NA / OC’s representative changed the panier to the other side of the bike. While travelling, fortunately at a moderate speed, the panier again stuck in the rear spokes. Had the rider been travelling at speed on a downhill section, the incident had the potential to cause serious injury or worse. NA / OC’s acknowledged the incident (as "concerning and inconvenient"), apologised and assured us that they have made local operators aware of the issue. I mention just in case as this could have been fatal.
Lastly, if NA / OC’s are booking you into accommodation in small villages make sure to do your own research into what will be open as we arrived in a small village where only one restaurant was open (no shops, bars or anything else) and were very lucky to find one open restaurant to get food before it closed.
All in all very disappointing. NA / OC’s have offered a voucher for €46 per person to be used against future holidays with them. Not surprisingly we have declined this offer.

Thank you for your feedback. Once again, we are sorry that the tour did not meet your expectations. Regarding your correspondence, we responded to each of your emails. Our replies addressed the bike rental pricing (the primary focus of your emails), which reflects the significant cost of operating in remote areas where rental shops are scarce and local drivers must travel long distances on winding mountain roads for delivery and pickup. These prices were clearly outlined in the initial quotation provided prior to booking. The prices are also listed on the booking forms for each cycling tour. These rates were not questioned prior to the tour being booked and confirmed, but only after its completion. Similar to any other service, the bike rental price is agreed upon before use. Disputing the cost after the tour has concluded and the service was used is not standard practice or an option in business.

As outlined in the itinerary, this self-guided tour traverses remote towns and villages. While we provide route notes with local recommendations for cafes and restaurants, operational details such as opening hours can vary and should be checked shortly before arrival. Similarly, air conditioning is not standard in many rural accommodations across Spain and Europe, in general, and cannot be guaranteed.

The gift voucher was offered as a gesture of goodwill in response to your experience. Accepting it or not is entirely up to you. The Natural Adventure team

Camino dos Faros

Camino dos Faros, in Galicia. We've travelled with The NAC about 15 times and this was one of the best. Excellent organisation, faultless delivery and app by S-Cape (the local agent). This is a gem of a trek with wild coastline and fabulous food. It is empty, only Spanish + sprinkling of other nationalities. Often we met 1, 2 other walkers each day.

The experiences just keep getting better. This is our second pilgrimage with The Natural Adventure and our third trip with them to date. The arrangements were perfect. Accommodations clean and comfortable with good breakfasts. Baggage transfers were always on time and totally reliable. Details that we would have missed on our own were included, such as dinner on a Sunday evening when all the local restaurants would have been closed. A pack lunch when staying at a place where getting lunch for the next day would have been difficult at best. Great places to stay that were close to, if not on, the route we were traveling. Wonderful experience…

We had a very bad experience

We had a very bad experience. Would not recommend. Communication poor. They don’t really understand what they’re selling and overall don’t expect to be supported during your adventure.

Update: Disappointingly, after providing very detailed feedback, the company takes no responsibility for any of the items raised. When we raised our concerns about the poorly organised transfer, they deflected our concerns - essentially saying it’s not their fault that the accommodation they organised was not possible to collect you from and that walking 800m on cobbled streets with luggage is just “unfortunate” even though the hotel manager said most other bus transfers pickup close and next door / they used the excuse of close roads, but that was just untrue. The poorly maintained routes and trails was responded to by saying - “it was fine when we last went there” - as if that makes any difference to our experience that trees, bushes and heavily flood trails were not passable. The avg condition bicycles with torn seats and faulty battery were dropped off at a cafe with no explanation or assistance. Again everyone involved had no clue about the other parties role (everything was independently organised but not coordinated) - honestly we’d have a better experience if we just organised it ourselves. Simply not worth the $$ and disappointment.

Fabulous experience walking the Cilento Coast

We went on the "Walking the Cilento Coast" tour. Absolutely fabulous holiday - well organised, great walks with flexibility to go longer or shorter routes, and lovely places to stay. The hosts at every location we stayed at were really friendly and helpful. A fantastic, memorable holiday - thank you

TYNA made our Camino Santiago hike stress free and great fun.

The Organisation of our Camino walk was really first class. We've never done anything like it before so we didn't know what to expect. Most importantly - the whole trip was stress free. TNA's local partner. Rutas Meigas, were also outstanding. Our luggage was delivered ahead of our arrival at every stop - in good condition and easy to locate. No hesitation is recommending TNA. Great job! thank you.

Completely failed to help

The company completely failed to help us adapt our holiday plans when they were disrupted by the weather. Despite not being able to do the walks, they would not change the accommodation so that we had to go to remote hotels with no reason to be there as we couldn't walk. Don't believe their claims - they're only interested in money.

Edit - their reply is accurate, but doesn't contradict what I said. It confirms they wouldn't change our accommodation (unless we paid) leaving us to stay in remote places where the only purpose of being there was to walk, which we couldn't do. A company that cared about it's customers would not have left them to have a pointless experience.

Dear Mr Furness,
Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations.
We would, however, like to clarify a few points. Due to severe weather conditions, several walking trails were closed by local authorities for safety reasons. As these circumstances were beyond our control (force majeure), any changes to the itinerary and related costs fall outside of our responsibility. That said, we did our best to support you during this disruption. We provided an additional overnight stay at our own expense and remained available locally to assist throughout the remainder of your trip. When you requested last-minute changes, we confirmed these could be arranged, but would need to be covered by you. Our position regarding these additional costs has already been clearly outlined, along with the support we provided under the circumstances.
We understand how disappointing such situations can be and always aim to support our travellers as much as possible and within a reasonable scope when events are outside of anyone’s control.

Kind regards,
TNA Team
