Great confidence boost for parents!

The team at positively parenthood have a wonderful ethos to helping parents. For both my children they provided supportive guidance and advice that helped us all sleep better. Their courses are simple but informative and competitively priced. It’s so hard to know where to get advice on sleep for young children and their courses/sessions gave us loads of confidence to get better sleep.

A beacon of tried-and-true wisdom in a world of fluff and noise

There's more noise out there in the parenting world than a newborn crying at 3am. Positively Parenthood was recommended to me by a trusted friend when I became a mother in 2020 (a time when it was hard to find voices outside of the digital space due to all the lockdowns), and Heidi and her work and wisdom proved to be a lifeline for me as I was vaulted into my parenting journey. Hers are wisdom and resources I have returned to season after season through parenting two young boys. I am forever grateful and cannot recommend Positively Parenthood enough. I can laugh now at the memories of walking through London winters with my first newborn strapped to me in a carrier, desperately listening to her podcast for another nugget of wisdom to get me through the next hurdle :D

As a paediatrician and a second time mum, I was fairly confident in teaching my second baby to self settle and he began falling asleep by himself about 5 months.. it was therefore hard for us to understand why he was still waking up every 45 minutes and we were really struggling.

He had cows milk protein allergy diagnosed at 4 months and a tongue tie - so he was never an easy baby but despite me cutting out dairy and soy from my diet he was still unsettled and I was at a loss what to do next.

We spoke to dieticians, colleagues and went to an allergy paediatrician. They were helpful in other ways but none of them had much advice how to help our sleep get better..

Then we spoke to Heidi; she helped me to work through his intolerances - gave me a list of foods that were 'sleep safe' and slowly but surely my son began to eat better and his pain and reflux settled and along with that his sleep began to improve. It wasn't/ isn't an easy fix and has been a long slog but finally at ten months we are getting to the point of one wakeup a night, self settling, being happy in the cot and general comfort levels are much much better.
Most of this is credit to Heidi and her help in particular with what to feed and what not to!

Do not recommend this company

I cannot say this strongly enough: if you’re a mum struggling with sleep, do NOT work with this company. Run, don’t walk, the other way.

As a new mum during Covid, I was desperate for help. Instead, I got a generic, hour-by-hour routine that clearly wasn’t made for my baby. When it didn’t work, and actually made things worse, I followed up only to be repeatedly told it was my fault for not being consistent (I was) or give it more weeks. At one point Heidi even suggested a dairy allergy out of nowhere (it wasn’t). I was already exhausted, and their approach and lack of support pushed me to breaking point.

And the final blow? When I asked completely reasonable questions in the Facebook group (with other mums agreeing they had the same issues with their recommended routines), I was kicked out. My attempt to rejoin was declined. So much for the company “supporting mums”.

Their routines aren’t tailored, they’re designed for high-sleep-need babies (totally unattainable for my low sleep needs baby), and the customer service was downright dismissive. This service is nothing like what it claims to be, it was demoralising, unhelpful, and incredibly disappointing.

**posting this years later as I don’t ever give any bad reviews, but now with my third baby I can see how truly bad this situation was.

I’m really sorry to hear that you felt unsupported at such a vulnerable time. Becoming a parent, especially during Covid, was incredibly hard, and I truly wish your experience had been different.

To clarify a few things for others reading:

Our online courses are intentionally designed as foundational guides, offering structure and support for families navigating sleep, with the understanding that every baby is different. We’re always clear that more tailored, 1:1 support is available for parents who want personalised guidance or have more complex needs.

The Facebook support group you’re referring to was a peer community space, not a 1:1 coaching forum. While I check in regularly, it’s not set up for continuous, personalised advice, and this is communicated clearly to all members.

Removal from the group only occurs if a conversation becomes unsafe or misaligned with the group’s intended tone. That said, I’m genuinely sorry if that moderation felt personal or abrupt. Having spoken to group admin at the time, there were only ever 2 removals - one another sleep consultant and one of someone trying to promote other services. We do not recall removing a parent for these reasons.

On the topic of dairy intolerance: this was never a diagnosis, but a gentle suggestion made based on patterns I’ve seen over 15+ years. Of course, all health concerns are always referred back to a medical professional, which we note in our support materials.

I never take it lightly when someone feels let down, even years later. My team and I are here to support families in a way that is respectful, rooted in experience, and always evolving. I wish you and your little ones all the very best.

I can’t recommend Positively Parenthood enough. Heidi has a real gift for getting to the root of sleep issues — often in ways you wouldn’t expect. My middle child (almost 5) has never slept past 6am, but within a week of following Heidi’s advice and removing gluten from his diet, he’s been sleeping until 6:45! The change has been incredible.
Heidi also helped us understand that our other children’s early waking was linked to mouth breathing — something we’d never have connected to sleep before. Her holistic approach, wealth of knowledge, and practical advice have made such a difference to our family. We’re so happy with the support and would highly recommend her to anyone struggling with children’s sleep.

Where would I be without Heidi…

Where would I be without Heidi…still waking every 1hr with my baby! Now I have a baby who sleeps!
We were lucky enough to have 1 - 1 coaching with Heidi and on the initial call, with her years of experience and gut knowledge, was able to identify that my son was actually dairy intolerant, as soon as we cut dairy out he was a changed baby, that coupled with her help and guidance of how to settle baby to sleep in his own cot meant for the first time in 6months I had a full 12 hrs!! Something I couldn’t even believe was possible. Heidi was always on hand to help with any quick queries or if there were any issues from the previous night, and with such a positive energy, I felt able to tackle each day/night until sleep and bed time became so easy to do for myself, my husband and baby!

The managing emotions webinar was absolutely brilliant. It really normalised dysregulation in both children and adults. It has given me some brilliant tips to help my little ones plus help myself regulate. Would love to attend another.

I can’t recommend Positively Parenthood…

I can’t recommend Positively Parenthood enough, Mel has honestly changed our lives. When we started working with her I was awake every 1-2 hours overnight, having almost no downtime with 25 min naps and spending an hour feeding to sleep before every nap and bed time. Our 10 month old now lies down in the crib after 5 minutes and falls asleep, does good day naps and is only waking once at night (something we haven’t tried to change as we’re happy with this), we also feel confident knowing what to try when sleep issues crop up again. Mel looked at our situation holistically and reviewed all areas that could impact sleep, and as Positively Parenthood also specialise in reflux and other digestive issues I felt confident they had the experience to look at this, unlike some other consultants who are only trained in sleep. Mel was brilliant, really supportive and offered lots of potential solutions when things needed adjusting. She also often gave us a few options we could try which meant we were able to do things that worked for our family and daughter rather than having a one size fits all approach. We also had a few challenges with teeth and illness during the process which Mel was able to help us through. My only regret is not working with them sooner!

Finally sleep advice that worked

We purchased the baby sleep course after using other similar ones online but none seemed to help us much. Heidi's course was so helpful as it contained a section on what to do if it is not working and from this we were able to identify that our baby actually had tummy issues. After working on this, sleep clicked so easily and we could not be more grateful. 10 months of no sleep is too long! Would recommend to any other parents.

You have truly saved my sanity!

I couldn’t be happier! We first used positively parenthood back in March 2024 after an undiagnosed dairy allergy meant we had very little sleep for the first 16 months (how I wish I’d booked a 1:1 FAR sooner!). His overnight sleep improved dramatically to sleeping through for the first time incredibly fast with the help from the team & although naps took a few weeks longer we were able to lengthen them significantly too!

Fast forward to December 2024 and we became a Positively Parenthood member as the challenges of toddler sleep/cot transitions/nap dropping/bedtime resistance meant I really needed some extra support & it’s been absolutely fantastic.

I’ve been able to join a number of the Q&A sessions with Mel to troubleshoot the ever changing problems with sleep or behaviour we have each month & it’s been SO helpful.

Plenty of online courses/webinars we’ve been able to utilise in between the Q&As too, the toddler sleep one in particular hugely helped when my toddler transitioned from cot to bed (far earlier than I would’ve ideally liked!) & I didn’t know where to begin with keeping him in the bed!

Positively Parenthood Membership Review

I've found being a Positively Parenthood member fantastic. The resources are thoughtful evidence based and incredibly supportive - everything is tailored to real-life parenting without judgement or pressure. The membership also allows me to pop in out and have support through the different stages of parenting. I also really appreciate that support coming in different forms whether it be from referring to and watching (re-watching) an online course or a live Q and A session.

Lots more sleep - thank you!

Mel at PositivelyParenthood was brilliant. She listened carefully to our personal story and made thoughtful suggestions. What I particularly liked was her holistic approach and feeling supported.
We followed advice on his nap schedule and the return and reassure approach. I’d read a lot of books and followed a lot of internet advice before, but we needed a bit more support and glad we followed Mel’s advice. He’s now sleeping 8pm-6am. Although it’s not the 11-12 hours we were aiming for, it’s a world apart from (mostly) 2 hourly wakes that we have had for his first 13 months. I feel more human and he’s definitely more rested! Because it took us a bit of work over a couple of weeks, then we couldn’t have done it without Mel - thank you!!

Lay the foundations and you get results!

We used Heidi and her team to help us with our first born who had awful reflux. We used the Positively Parenthood courses and 1-2-1 consultation to help teach our daughter to settle herself to sleep at 14 weeks old. Since that time, she’s been a fantastic sleeper. Didn’t necessarily sleep through the night until 9 months old but knew how to wake , feed, wind and go back to sleep on her own. She is now 2.5 years old, we’ve moved her into a new room and a big girl bed all without any regressions or problems and honestly I believe laying the foundations early and working with the PP team was invaluable to our sleep journey. I’ve engaged Heidi for my second who is 7 weeks so we can start shaping sleep in a more flexible way!

Amazing support for first time parents

We took on board all of Melanie’s prenatal advice (which also saved us a lot of unnecessary expenditure). We have also benefited from direct one-to-one support from Mel post-natal. As first time parents, Mel’s advice has given us the confidence to gently encourage our newborn into a safe and comfortable sleep routine, and as a result she’s now sleeping 8-9 hours each night at 11 weeks old.

Sleep gurus!

I can highly recommend Mel at Positively Parenthood, who helped me during a difficult time I was having with my 4 month old son's sleep. Mel took the time to understand our situation during a consultation and continued to provide advice and moral support over email. Thanks to Mel I was able to identify what was leading to my son's poor sleep and digestive issues (my diet!) and trial out a few solutions that Mel suggested. After 2 weeks we were in a much better place. Thank you, Mel :)

I was really hoping positively…

I was really hoping positively parenthood would help with our son but that has not been the case. In fact, after religiously following the cry and calm method, removing dairy and soy from my diet and restricting starch intake on their advice, our situation is now worse and my confidence is in the gutter. My son screams and screams and takes at least 45 mins to go down (this wasn’t the case before we started the cry and calm method) and the advice we have been given is that his discomfort needs to be sorted before any of PP’s methods can work. I’m not sure where that now leaves us other than with a child who is fighting sleep and a mother who is on her knees with exhaustion and terrified of eating anything in case that’s what’s causing the ‘discomfort’. I wish I could have left a more positive review but the truth is that this company has made me feel as though I have truly failed as I couldn’t get my child’s naps to fit into the provided schedule.

The best in the business for all things sleep/comfort

I cannot speak highly enough of my experience of Positively Parenthood. I first got in contact with Positively Parenthood after having read Heidi’s book ‘Your Positive Baby Sleep Book’ as I really rated the advice and content provided, and suspected there were underlying issues causing my son to have extremely broken sleep that I wanted to get to the bottom of. My son was 12 weeks old when I got in contact and was struggling to sleep at night with frequent hourly wake ups and was also repeatedly doing short naps so everyone was struggling with very little sleep! I worked with Heidi for several weeks to get to the bottom of what was causing the disrupted sleep which turned out to be multifaceted with him having a dairy intolerance, a tongue tie that was causing reflux from excess air intake and me having milk supply challenges that meant he was also waking hungry. Heidi is extremely knowledgeable on all things sleep and comfort and on our very first call, after listening to what was going on, told me what she suspected was wrong and she proved right on all of the issues and helped implement fixes or suggest how we could resolve the problems over the coming weeks. It wasn’t a quick fix but I don’t think it is when it comes to underlying tummy/comfort issues however, we are now in a position where the other night he slept for 12 hours without waking! Something I would never have imagined possible at the beginning. I rave about Heidi (and her book!) to anybody that will listen and could not be more grateful for her help and support through this journey. If you’re looking for somebody to help you and your baby with sleep issues then I’d look no further!
