Highly recommended

We've just had a second stay at the Partridge with our two dogs and once again it was excellent. They gave us a really large room close to the exit, it was spotlessly clean with a comfortable super king bed and plenty of space for our two labradors. The food is excellent, the staff are super friendly and we were even able to charge up our car! It's definitely the place for us when visiting family in the northwest, we highly recommend.

I've visited twice and both times…

I've visited twice and both times encountered hostility and eye-rolling from the Manager. During my first visit with family, our drink orders were incorrect, and she was visibly upset when we pointed it out, even getting confrontational. Fortunately, the lovely waitress was understanding when we informed her of the mistake. On my second visit with colleagues from across the UK, I recommended the place because the food is consistently exquisite. However, we faced the same unfriendly behavior, with the Manager nearly shouting at us. There were some issues with the meals and service, likely due to being short staffed, but an apologetic and attentive response could have made a difference. Regrettably, the front-of-house experience was lacking, and I suspect several of my colleagues have already sent in complaints, as her terrible attitude marred our annual Christmas gathering. I won't return unless there's a change in management. Such treatment isn't expected even at budget-friendly places, let alone at a charming (and quite pricey) country pub! What an unpleasant experience!

Wonderful hotel and restaurant

I have just enjoyed a wonderful night at The Partridge!

I arrived in the evening and was welcomed by the very personable staff. It was reasonably busy in the pub/restaurant, but everything was calm and under control.

I was shown to my room, which was spacious clean and well equipped. Some nice touches included plug sockets on both sides of the bed (which sounds silly but means I could charge my phone on the side I wanted to sleep on), and an actual flannel in the bathroom.

Dinner was tasty, served quickly and was reasonably priced. For breakfast, the avocado and poached eggs were lovely, and the coffee and OJ were both delicious excellent.

Despite comments to the contrary, I was able to charge all items to my room and settle when I left.

Great little find and will definitely stay here again, and recommend The Partridge to anyone looking to stay in the area.

Bad experience

Firstly there were certain items unavailable on the breakfast menu we were informed when placing our order,so we re ordered and waited approximately 1 hour for our breakfast to be served only to find the poached eggs on both breakfasts were overdone & the food was lukewarm.I informed the girl at the bar who offered to replace them but we just did not have another hour to waste and offered to pay for the coffee.I asked the staff member to show the manager Neal the breakfasts and would like to speak to him please. He eventually came out and I had to explain the whole scenario again also pointing out there were not many people in the restaurant. He replied I agree it’s not good enough then went quiet without any explanation or concern at all.Don’t mind waiting if the food is good and hot when served but this was not acceptable, terrible customer service would definitely not recommend this place for food.

A hidden gem!

Visiting family in Warrington so another stay with our dog at The Partridge, and perfect again! The staff are welcoming and very helpful, the bedrooms are large and comfortable, the food is excellent and the bar and dining area are like being in a cosy pub - we love it and so does our cocker spaniel, especially as its in a lovely semi-rural setting - plenty of space for him to run around in the gardens! Really good main road links between Chester, Manchester, North and South (M56, M6, M62 nearby). Would highly recommend.

Great country Hotel & Restaurant

So pleased we chose The Partridge over a Corporate Concrete Jungle! The rooms are big & beautiful and the bathrooms huge. Spotlessly clean, comfy beds, tea/coffee facilities, lovely fluffy towels and just a really lovely environment. Check in was simple and quick. The pub/restaurant was busy on arrival which is always a good sign. We had dinner on Friday night and the food was great, and the staff were lovely and friendly, and really apologetic when it transpired they weren't able to furnish us with an Espresso Martini, definitely not a game changer for us. Breakfast had the morning crew on and they were equally friendly. The team at this Hotel are well versed in Customer Service and they deliver it in bucket loads. Shout out to the cleaning crew too, the whole place sparkled. We loved the photos dotted about of the different stages of restoration to. Thanks for your hospitality and would definitely recommend!

Pub & Food - Fantastic; Hotel - Oh Dear!!

We visit our Cheshire family 3 or 4 times per year and have always stayed in the conveniently located Park Royal Hotel in Stretton. This time we decided to have a change (and save a bit of money) by trying The Partridge just across the M56 roundabout.

This is difficult to score as there are 2 extremes at this pub/hotel. The pub part is great, very cosy and warm and good service. We had breakfasts and Sunday roast which were all fantastic, very tasty and good value.

However, sadly, the hotel part let the whole experience down. We had to pay for our 3-night stay in full as soon as we checked in and were told that there is no facility to charge drinks and food to the room. So, unlike normal hotels, we had 12 individual transactions instead of just the one normally settled at check-out. Not such a big deal just a bit inconvenient, especially considering only one, sometimes none, of the 3 or 4 card machines generally didn't work!

The room itself was good, nice and clean, modern and quiet, however there was a terrible smell of drains/sewage all through the room and bathroom. The basin and shower both backed up and the toilet cistern took over 15 minutes to fill up. Definitely an issue with drains/plumbing/sewage system.

The kettle also didn't work properly meaning the switch needed to be held in until boiling, again not a big issue but we did report it and were promised a replacement which never came.

Our biggest issue only emerged after the 1st night of our stay. We went visiting our relatives all day and came back to find our room hadn't been cleaned or serviced. We asked a member of staff about the room servicing and were told that rooms are only serviced before check-in and after check-out, meaning your room is not serviced for the whole duration of your stay! Needless to say we would quickly run out of clean towels, toilet tissue (of which there was no extra) etc, what a palava!

Later we asked the same question to a senior member of staff who told us the room servicing team/person was sick that day and our room would be serviced the next day. But, the next day came and went and guess what - no room servicing! So it appears the senior member of staff had told us a little porky-pie!!!

We had to resort to grabbing some fresh towels from a bag in the corridor and stealing toilet tissues from the pub toilet! We also had to buy and bring in bottled water and toiletries. Is this what you’d expect for £110 per night?!

Anyway we did what we said and gave The Partridge a try, however, considering the issues with the accommodation, we will revert to paying the £20-£25 more to stay at the Park Royal in future.

We'll definitely return to have drinks and food as the pub part is great as already mentioned, however this will be our one and only stay at The Partridge.

See you soon Park Royal.

Home from home

Been using the hotel again more often due to nearby big hotel standards dropping.
This has always been a bit of a home from home. Decent food and friendly service.

Terrifyingly Aggressive Manager!

Been twice now and met with aggression and eye rolling from the Manager. First time with family, drinks wrong, she was fuming with the fact we pointed it out. Actually in our faces! The lovely waitress who served us was fine with us advising the wrong drinks! 2nd time with work, people from all over UK on my recommendation (The food is always absolutely beautiful!!). Met with same aggression, almost barking at us. A few mishaps with the meals and service (Due to short staffed) which we would have taken if front of house had been apologetic and attentive. It wasnt! Several members of our Company have written in I believe, as her awful attitude ruined our annual Christmas meetup! Never again until you get a new Manager! Dont even expect this at 2 for £12 establishments, never mind a quaint (and rather expensive) country pub! Awful woman!

Greeted with a waitress aggressively…

Greeted with a waitress aggressively asking do we have a booking ! waited ages to get the menus. Waited ages for drinks and one missing . Breakfast expensive and had to go find staff to order more drinks. Had to go to till so we could pay. No one really came to the table very poor service. Such a shame as been a few weeks ago and different staff who were much more attentive.

avoid...useless place

Very negative experience all round. Food took 50 minutes to arrive. Ignored, and then no interest whatsoever from management when we complained. Cold plates, small portions. Apology from server eventually, but management behaved as if we didn't exist. Really unprofessionally run. Avoid.

Birthday celebration

Birthday celebration. Booked a table for 7. Pre-ordered the Sunday Roast as advised. Turned out to be awful. The ‘mystery’ vegetables were cold and the roast potatoes were inedible. We were offered chips as a replacement! Ha! How anyone calling themselves a Chef could serve food like that is beyond me. The staff were apologetic and the main meals were deleted from the bill but the occasion was‘Special’ for all the wrong reasons.

Fabulous food and great staff

My brother, sister in law and myself called today for lunch following a recommendation from a friend who had a fabulous Sunday lunch last weekend. We were not disappointed. We chose from the Light Bite menu and Myself and my brother had the broccoli and Stilton quiche and my sister in law the smoked haddock fish cake. We also shared a portion of homemade chips and followed with sticky toffee pudding. We agreed we had not tasted a quiche as tasty as that in a long time and the fish cake was of an equally high standard.
The decor is lovely which is matched by the courteous and friendly staff.
We will be returning to sample some more!

First trip after lockdown.

A return trip after the second lockdown. Trip prior was awful as the staff were more into Looking after young men. HOWEVER, this visit was a second opportunity as there had been a fuel supply malfunction and our booking was very polity cancelled; we were offered the opportunity to rebook with the offer of a 50% reduction on our meal bill, this we accepted.

The meal that we had was very good and greatly enjoyed by us both. Tony and Phil provided four good plates of food for us along with two excellent Pimms Eton messes. My husband enjoyed the excellent Cheshire Cat and the Manager was open to suggestion of other local brewers to use as guest ales.

A good evening which was enjoyed by us both. We'll be back!.
