Nathan was very helpful. Quickly putting my mind at rest, over the issue with meter readings, as well as advising me on a better dateline. My only regret us that your portal won't accept my readings... See more

Do not deal with this company at all. They have been taking money from my daughter and her flat mates and not paying the energy companies so this resulted in the electricity being cut off. They promised a refund of all money paid to them as we need to pay the electricity company but haven’t done this. Their customer service is a minus - they don’t even deserve one star
Update to my review- they have now refunded all monies paid

So far it’s been a perfect experience with student energy group. Services are smooth and fast, just like before I had issues with my direct debit mandate but with Nathan’s help it was resolved. Thank you

This is it NOT an energy company but an energy middle man with not enough staff to handle clients, delayed responses if at all. I had the ill luck of moving to a property supplied by them, I moved in 27th dec 2025, I tried to make contact from then to no avail. When you call they say there’s a high volume of calls and you have to wait for hours, frustrated with ringing the customer service line I decided to choose the option for onboarding new customers and would you know! They picked up in less than a minute, I explained to the lady I was trying to switch and she said she couldn’t help as only customer service can, I told her I was on hold for over 40 minutes and she proudly told waiting time is usually around 1 hour. When you email, they say there’s high volume and ask you to go to the website, in the site there’s supposed agent waiting but this is all false, I waited 12 hours on the chat with no response. This is all an elaborate scam set up to frustrate you into remaining with them. After 3 weeks of this brouhaha, I finally got through, they said unfortunately I had to wait until the beginning of the next month to get the final bill as they couldn’t just generate it (another ploy to keep me on with them) I waited and got the highest bill of my life over £400 for gas and electric for around 34 days. Finally comes the new month, I was told they needed 10 days to notify their partner corona energy that I wanted to switch, meaning I had to stay on with them until middle of Feb, they said I could switch 14th Feb. the date rolls around, guess what? My switch is denied, sick and crying I called corona energy to beg them to let me go, they sent me back to student energy group saying they couldn’t deal directly with me, I tell them I have paid the outstanding bills and given them the notice period they asked, they still refused. I have done all you asked, paid all bills and given all the notice in the world. My switch got denied 4 times. Frustrated, I ask the new energy company to help me, and they were finally able to bring me on by the end of February. Nearly 2 months to escape the shakles of this company and when I finally think it is over, they have now sent me an additional bill of £104 for the period they kept me bondage while unfairly denying my switch. I see the ploy all along. Everyone at this company should hide in shame. I will not be paying this additional bill and will ride this all the way to Supreme Court if need be. Aaron who dealt with me was great, the customer service staff are Nice but there’s only a hand full of them, there only so much they can do, notice the continuous mention of Aaron and Nathan in other reviews? There’s very few cs staff.

Reported for bullying vulnerable students for money they do not owe. My daughter was sent a bill of over £400 for a 4 week period they did not even live in their student tenancy for. Upon review they were certain this was correct - they were in fact not. After sending ACS debt collectors to her door and harassing her over the phone, the student energy group finally realised my daughter and her house mates in fact owe them nothing as they weren’t the company to even supply energy to the house. If we hadn’t have enquired this issue they’d have happily taken the money out of an already skint students pocket, showing how they pick on the ones most vulnerable without even having their facts straight. Please do not let your children pay bills to this scheming company - there’s a lot better elsewhere.
On top of this - they said they called the debt collectors off but this problem is for some reason still ongoing with multiple rude calls coming from ACS as we speak.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.
The Student Energy Group are nothing more than money grabbing bullies who harass students over debts that do not exist. We have received multiple threatening letters and even had debt collectors calling us about a bill from a period when we were not tenants at the property.
Despite repeatedly explaining this and providing the necessary information, they have continued to pursue us for payment. What makes this even worse is that they have admitted to us directly that we do not owe them anything, yet they still allowed debt collectors to keep contacting us and demanding money.
This level of incompetence and disregard is unbelievable. Instead of correcting their mistake, they have chosen to intimidate students with aggressive collection tactics over a completely invalid charge.
Students do not use this company. Their handling of this situation has been unprofessional, rude and frankly unacceptable.

Do not go with this company. They claimed to supply ou rstudent house for the period before our current supplier took over.. Upon investigation that I had to intiate becuase they are incompentent they didnt supply our house. Even after having proved this they sent debt collectors! They cannot communicate between themselves. They said they would call them off once they agreed they didn't supply our house but a week later the dent collecotrs called and emailed us again! This has taken 5 months to fix and still isn't resolved. They prey on students and use harrassment and bullying to try and get payment for bills. We have had to do their due diligence of checking we owed them money and now we are having to do thier job of calling the debt collectors off. They are incompentent, unorganised and money grabbers. Avoid at all costs.

My daughter's tenancy was taken over before she had moved in to the student accommodation back in September of 2025and everything was done correctly regarding new contracts etc. She has been receiving numerous letters saying that she has not paid the debt. She has been in contact with the agency again and again explaining that she is not the tenant anymore, every phone call can take over an hour for someone to pick up. explaining the situation over and over again. The advisors have said it is their own fault (the student energy group) as there was a delay in their system but not to worry as notes have all been put on the account and it will be sorted. She has now received another letter saying that the debt will be taken to a debt collector. This is an absolute disgrace to put a 19 year old through this stress. The more reviews I have read about this company I can see we are not on our own.
could the student energy group reach out to me again please as I have missed the deadline to reply

I was charged an additional £1,800 because I did not submit my meter readings every month. I tried to correct this by providing the actual readings, but I was told that I would need to have submitted meter readings from the start of each contract year.
I have been with this company for three years, and during the first two years this was never an issue. I was not required to submit monthly meter readings, and I was never charged in this way before.
Each year, I am required to cancel and renew the contract, and during this process they estimate the usage and charge me accordingly, without allowing me to rectify the situation by submitting the actual meter readings covering the past three years.
Customer service is not clear at all when they speak to you, and at times they can be quite rude. Communication is confusing and unhelpful.
I am now waiting until September to cancel, as doing so now would cost me more than £600 in exit fees. You would honestly be better off with any other supplier.

UPDATE: Thank you so much Nathan for sorting this out for us. Really appreciate your help and support with this!
DO NOT GO WITH THIS COMPANY!! Absolutely useless in trying to resolve any issues. They charge us money for bills every month but then don't pass it onto the company. We have debt with Welsh Water not and debt collectors at our door even though we've done nothing wrong. I've been in contact tens of times and nothing is happening. Sort it out TSEG
