Beware: scammers!

Beware! Wander Camps = scamming company.

I booked two (non-refundable) nights with Wander Camps from 19th -21th of April 2024 near Grand Canyon. Because it was around 7 degrees Celsius in the tent the first (despite renting a heater) we agreed with them by telephone we could check out after the first night and the second night would be refunded trough PayPal, but nothing happened. The strange thing is that they would pro-actively text me if I received my refund -confirming their offer- but would not respond anymore if I told them I didn't. I asked for a proof-of-payment many times but they would not respond.
Booking.com tried to mediate several times as well but Wander would tell them they had solved it with me.
Also, they would hold Booking.com off by saying that I had to contact them directly. But if I did they would either ghost me or have me hold the line for half an hour and then cut me off.
After four months and dozens of text messages, emails and telephone calls they suddenly they rolled back on their repeated promise I would be refunded and offered me credits for an extra stay, which -despite friendly local staff on site) I don't want because of the terrible communication by their HQ, they fact that they lied to me and Booking.com, but also because of their dirty bathrooms and -cold- showers and the fact that the foodtruck overcharged us (around 35 dollars for one bagel, we only found out after the trip checking our bank account).

Probably not a coincidence: their rollback took place just after the option to write a review on Booking.com was expired (they showed themselves very anxious not getting a bad review) , so it seems they deliberately tried to make me believe they were still busy wiring the refund each time I contacted them.

I would very much warn any traveller to do business with this organization.

Unfortunaly TrustPilot does not have the option to attach photo's, otherwise I'd attach the screenshots of their (many) text-messages suggesting the refund was on it's way.
