AVOID AT ALL COSTS
Wroxton House Hotel Xmas Day Meal £95? would rather have gone to McDonalds, that’s how bad the meal and service was.
Have waited till today to write the review as have only just had a reply from the complaint that was put in, but inevitably got a complete white wash, and everything was denied
However, we were offered a complete meal for all three of us to go back and have, are they serious ? All three of us said we would never go back again, and in fact, my two friends had been for Santas breakfast, and that was a complete disaster as there was virtually no food, amd what was served came out in dribs and drabs, they got some money refunded for that.
Myself and and the same two friends booked Christmas Day at the Wroxham House Hotel in Banbury, firstly you have to pay the whole amount upfront at least four weeks before you go, so if you’re sick and can’t make it forget it, you won’t get anything back .
Secondly, they were told well in advance about my dietary requirements, as have a number of intolerances to certain food which they totally ignored .
Thirdly, there was no heat on in the hotel that day the moment we walked in, it felt just as cold as it was outside, and it was bitter on Christmas Day, we were shoved in a corridor with no doors on either end, so we sat and froze with our coats on, and we had to eat with our coats on, and we were still frozen.
Service was so slow, surprised we’re not into 2026 already.
For some reason they decided to give us an extra starter that had not booked, they bought me lactose free salmon ..what the heck is that? My friends got what looked like cream cheese in theirs, but mine had something else, however the last time I looked salmon is a soft fish and can only eat shell fish, due to my intolerances, so gave that to my friend
Starter was supposed to be seafood on a bed of lettuce, but think the lettuce was on strike that day, as there was none, wasn’t expecting calamari, good job am only able to eat shell fish, as have an intolerance..was on,y expecting prawns which can eat.
The actual main meal was absolutely disgusting, got one sprout and half a roast potato, the sage and onion stuffing was not handmade came out of a packet and it was so salty it could not be eaten .
Finally, my sliver, and mean a sliver of Christmas pudding for me, came completely dry, as am lactose intolerant, (so no custard or brandy sauce) had to add water to that could even swallow it, it seems no one had the foresight to ask me to bring is some lactofree milk, so could have had made me a custard etc.
A very unpleasant experience, the Wroxton has gone down,in my opinion, it used to be a great place to go, but no more.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
