I’ve been visiting Thornton Hall Country Park for years with my three boys, and what used to be a reasonably priced, warm, and welcoming day out has turned into something entirely different – it now feels designed purely to extract as much money as possible from visitors at every turn.
General admission alone is now £65 for three adults and one child, and then almost everything else inside costs extra on top. We went with a very young child, and most of the paid activities simply weren’t suitable for them anyway. I remember when the quad bikes, animal areas, and decent food were all part of the experience – now it feels like a generic play area with just a handful of animals, with a price tag to match.
The food was just about okay, but very limited – barely a choice of drinks or proper meals, and for three adults and one young child, snacks and drinks alone came to £60. It feels like they’ve traded the charm and value that made it special for constant upsells and inflated pricing.
It’s such a shame to see what was once a fantastic family spot become so commercialised. There are plenty of other country parks and farm attractions nearby that offer far better value, more for your money, and still feel like they actually want families to enjoy themselves rather than empty their wallets. We won’t be rushing back.

What a gem! We’ve been twice in the last few months because the kids enjoyed it so much the first time that they wanted to return. From the animals, petting area, safari ride, soft play, top quality shows and the all important lovely food, there is nothing to not like. It isn’t huge, but it’s perfectly varied to keep the kids busy having full for a whole day.

I like how the soft play area has time slots so that you know it won’t be too full and you can definitely find a free table. The cafe does tasty food at reasonable prices. The burgers were a huge hit with us all. The themes are great, we have been there for different ones and enjoyed them both. Easter was a favourite one. The slime workshop was great too.

Finally, the staff, they were all so friendly and pleasant. They answered any questions thrown at them and were helpful when petting the small animals and feeding the babies. The entertainment team were hilarious. Cleverly thought out shows that both adults and kids loved. Mark and Jemma were just fantastic. Many laughs were had as we watched them interact and entertain.

Well worth a visit if you find yourself in the area! You won’t regret it.

We Went camping with my nephew Daz and other members of our family on the 23rd June this year . Fantastic place, loads to do with the kids. Pitched up right opposite to the showers and toilets which was as clean as a whistle, staff always come round to check them. The Staff was really helpful towards us when we needed to ask them anything . You only have to read the reviews on Google to see why this is a lovely place. We are definitely going again soon. Many Thanks to Chris and Emma for looking after us.
