Customer service at Timpsons is one of the worst I have ever experienced in my life.
I initially handed in my wife’s Apple Watch for a battery replacement, but it came back with a faulty battery and with two new deep scratches. I took it back, and Dan at the Wigston branch was very apologetic. He agreed to send it back to the warehouse to get the screen replaced alongside fixing the battery. What should have taken 3 to 5 days ended up taking a month and a half. Every time I rang the branch, I was simply told that the repair warehouse system showed it as "in progress."
Eventually, at the 1.5-month mark, an agent at the branch rang the warehouse directly. They were told the repair was completed, but because it was a re-sent item, the warehouse was suddenly unclear on whether they should mail it back. I was told to wait for a text message confirmation, which I never received. After another week of waiting, I visited the branch in person. Dan was very apologetic and informed me that the watch was now lost. Shockingly, he told me that my details had been conveniently wiped from the system by the warehouse, which meant he was unable to even contact me to let me know what had happened. He instructed me to contact customer care to claim compensation for the lost watch and a refund for the faulty battery replacement we paid for.
That kicked off another time-consuming journey. I spoke to Joanne in customer care, who was very polite and understanding of the situation. She informed me that she would need to get in touch with Dan to validate the story before moving forward with compensation. I waited about 3 days before ringing again, only to find out there was no update due to staff being on leave.
Once Joanne finally had everything confirmed, she told me we could proceed with the compensation, and I provided all the necessary details.
I then received an email, which was initially very apologetic about the watch being lost in Timpsons' care, but they only offered to compensate £150 for a watch that my wife originally paid £269 for. I was absolutely disgusted with this outcome. Considering this ordeal had now dragged on for two months, this was the best they were willing to do despite the awful customer service and the endless back-and-forth.
I responded to express my disappointment, asking Timpsons to reconsider given that the watch was lost entirely in their care, and questioning why we were being forced to end up out of pocket. Four days passed with absolutely no response.
I went back to see Dan at the branch to express my frustration. Even he commended me for being so calm considering how badly the experience had gone, and he agreed it was poor that they were only willing to cover £150.
I waited a few more days hoping for an email response. When none arrived, I rang customer care again. I was promised a callback within 5 minutes but never received it. I understood that it was after 4:30 PM and offices close at 5:00 PM, so I expected a call the next morning. It never came. I called again the following day and asked to speak directly to a manager. I was told I would get a callback that day or the next. I pushed back on how long this situation had been dragging on, and the lady I spoke with promised she would do her best.
Shortly after that phone call, I received an email from Joanne stating that the area manager was now willing to compensate £200 instead of £150. Personally, I still feel this was completely unreasonable based on the circumstances and the fact that Timpsons lost the item.
In my opinion, the watch was stolen internally rather than "lost." With a brand new battery, a brand new screen, and a limited-edition colour, I find it hard to believe it just suddenly vanished. The fact that my details were wiped from the system makes it even more suspicious.
At this point, we decided to accept the £200 offer simply because I no longer had the time or energy to invest in going back and forth for weeks on end.
I will absolutely never use Timpsons for this service ever again. If any repair requires work being sent off from a walk-in branch to their central workshop, I strongly advise refusing. Your property could go missing at any time. From my experience, you will get plenty of sympathy and apologies, but the actual customer care is appalling when it comes to compensating you for what they "lose," and they ultimately make their mistake your problem to deal with.
Rather than spending £70 at Timpsons, I wish I had just spent £100 and gone directly to Apple to avoid all of this inconvenience and frustration.
Absolutely awful experience.
I dealt with a man called Mark who was unbelievably rude and unprofessional. He charged me £15 to put a pair of leather shoes on a stretcher overnight...apparently more expensive than the £14 I’d just paid to have the heel tips changed.
To make matters worse, I don’t believe the shoes were stretched at all. They were 100% leather and felt exactly the same when I collected them. Not the slightest difference.
When I asked for my receipt, Mark told me he’d thrown it away. He then started throwing his tools around in front of my 13-year-old daughter, saying he was quitting, that he wasn’t in the mood for this, and that I could just leave.
I’ve honestly never experienced anything like it. Rude, aggressive, and completely unprofessional. I was so shocked by the interaction that I reported him to customer services.
I will never, ever return to this branch.
I took my watch to Timpson’s kiosk in Enfield Town in 2023 to have the battery changed but was informed that it was a faulty part and would cost £120 to repair. I agreed and was told that it should last at least 15 years
However barely a year later I took it back to have the battery changed (I thought) but was told that the same part needed changing again. After a haggle regarding the guarantee period they agreed to replace it.
Two months ago ( year later)the watch stopped again, I took it back but was now informed that it would cost £280 to repair
I’m afraid that my trust in their workmanship to deal with further repairs has been destroyed and have requested the return of my watch.
It is a longines watch which was given to me by my husband now deceased and has great sentimental value for me and I hope to find trusted repairer
Popped into the Gosport store in the high street, this morning.
I wanted a new strap for my fitness watch as my existing one was far too big, I was served by Bryn. He was very helpful and knowledgeable about the products and we quickly chose a lovely leather strap.
The price was great and free fitting and Bryn put another hole in for me.
He delivered exceptional customer service and I would not hesitate to recommend.
Great service from Steven at Airdrie Morrisons. Went to collect several watches and he spotted that the person who did the job hadn't been able to replace the battery- this was expected as the watch is a nightmare that several other workers at Timpsons and other jewelry shops have been stumped by. Steven said he spotted something about it and had an idea. Before I even finished the short drive home he phoned to say it was done and ready to collect. The watch was basically useless until now. On top of that, he delivers the most friendly and professional service- a credit to the company.

I use my local branch regularly for all sorts of services - by the side of the Tesco Extra store at Parc Trostre in Llanelli. I’m always satisfied when I visit. Yesterday I got the sole of a sandal repaired. The service is quick, reliable, friendly, excellent value for money and somewhere I would recommend. I like their culture as a business and want to support it

Called in at Skipton branch on 30th May for a new battery in my watch. Was served with polite speedy efficiency by the young man working alone in the shop.
I've been here a few times before and always received great service.

What an awful experience at the Timpsons branch in Tesco at Blue Boar, Sprowston, Norwich. The bearded chap working there today (28/05/26) had such a rude arrogant attitude. Last time I will ever be using Timpsons.

I had been trying for a long time to get one of my shoes altered due to major reconstruction surgery on my right leg which has left me 3 cm shorter than my left leg. On a trip to Bluewater Shopping Centre in Kent, I spoke to the manager Russell who sorted the problem with no fuss, professional and with great skill perfectly added the 3 cm to my £120 wedding shoes for a very reasonable price, and now for the first time since the final operation in January 2026 (the actual accident was 43 years ago, long story and journey) I am walking as a normal person would, straight and level.
I will now be taking more shoes to Bluewater as my local Timpson stores in Essex were less than helpful based on the skill set, but they were honest about it when asked.
Thank you to Russell for all your help and advice

I've had an extremely disappointing and frustrating experience with Johnsons Dry Cleaners/Timpsons.
I trusted them with an expensive pair of suede trousers, which were damaged while in their care (massive hole left in the leg). I had to buy a new pair from the same shop I purchased from initially and after providing proof of the replacement cost, the company still refused to compensate me in full, despite the damage occurring entirely under their responsibility. They want to pay £100 less than the purchase price and think that it is fair for a customer to be out of pocket.
What made the situation worse was the lack of accountability throughout the process. Nobody initially acknowledged the damage, and I was left to raise the issue myself. The response from customer service felt dismissive and unhelpful. Initial contact with Joanne resulted in an extremely long wait for a response, I had to call to push it forward.
Customers use dry cleaners for specialist and valuable clothing because they expect professional care and accountability if something goes wrong. Unfortunately, this experience showed the opposite.
Previously I was a regular weekly customer but I will unfortunately no longer be using their services, and I would strongly advise others to think carefully before trusting them with valuable items, you will always end up out of pocket.

Took a belt into the Hackney Mare Street branch to be shortened and repaired. The staff member was incredibly rude, unfriendly, and completely unhelpful. He wouldn’t even look me in the eye or look at the belt before flat-out denying service.
To refuse a job without even assessing the item or acknowledging the customer properly is incredibly lazy. Avoid this branch.

DO NOT USE THE DRY CLEANERS!!!!!!!
absolutely awful customer service and they ruined my wedding dress 8 weeks prior to my wedding with no resolution. The woman who works in the pontypridd hub called Clare is the manager and quite literally confirmed my heavily embellished dress was just chucked in a bag and put through their cleaner. Not handled with care what so ever. No apology from 4 people I spoke to and Head of Customer care Kirsty was also absolutely useless to deal with. Avoid at all costs.
