ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING ATTITUDE AND RUDE…

ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING ATTITUDE AND RUDE PRACTICES FROM NEW OWNER, BLAND FOOD AND MORE EXPENSIVE, WHAT A SHAME THIS ONCE FABULOUS BUSINESS HAS BEEN SOLD TO THIS PERSON. IF I COULD GIVE ZERO STARS I WOULD!!

What a terrible shame this once fabulous restaurant has changed owners. We went last night and Keel (apologies if not spelt correctly) introduced himself as the new owner, we had a pleasant chat, let him know this was our favourite Thai place and that we go regularly and wished him best of luck. Ordered our usual favourites, Chicken Satay skewers, Tom Yum soup, Steak in Chilli & Basil, Green Thai curry and Pad Thai. Starters arrived and the chicken satay tasted different, asked the waitress (who was lovely and always has been) if they had changed the recipe as I didn't like it and had left half of it (unheard of for me with Satay chicken), she said it was a different chef so maybe that was the difference. We said ok. Mains came and the Green Thai curry was lovely however the steak dish was worse than bland and not spicy at all. The owner came to the table to check if all ok and I mentioned the steak was bland - he said "oh" and that was it, I said again the steak dish was tasteless and not a hint of chilli - he said it's not supposed to be hot - if you want it hot you have to ask, I said we had ordered that dish so many times and never once had to ask for it to be hot, he said only dishes with 2 chillies on the menu are hot and I said it does have 2 chillies, he said no it doesn't. I asked if he had received my feedback on the satay, he said no then said about the recipe (so obviously had!!!) and I said yes, no where near as nice as previously and he said "well it's the same chef so don't know why" I said "it's a different chef" he said "No it's still TJ"!!! and left. He returned with a small bowl of chillies and told me to add them if I wanted. I explained he had missed the point and adding chillies would not make it tasty - just hot. He left. The whole time he was trying to engage my husband by answering to him and looking at him and not me which was extremely rude. We ate what we wanted and went downstairs to pay. Keel just handed us the bill which was just under £90 (which is more than it has been before for the same meal) and when I reminded him we had sent half the starter back and were not happy with 1 of the mains he again looked at my husband (who had not said 1 word to him as I was talking) and said "Sorry", I said is that it?, just sorry, he looked at my husband again and said "yes, when you come back it will be better", I said I'm not sure we want to come back and he looked at my husband again and said Sorry, it will be better next time. I asked him who he was apologising to, he said "Him and pointed at my husband" we both looked incredulous and he said "and you" I asked him if he cared that long standing customers weren't happy and he just shrugged and said better next time. I said you simply don't care and he just smiled. I FELT LIKE I HAD STEPPED INTO THE 11950's WHERE WOMEN WERE NOT ALLOWED TO SPEAK AND IF THEY DID THEIR HUSBAND WOULD BE ADDRESSED BY RESPONSE......... SHOCKING!!!
