I received the worst customer treatment in my life from this "insurer". They are completely unresponsive, and falsely advertise service in English. Their support lines don't work, nor does their app (also unavailable in English as advertised). The monthly charges are much higher than promised. TK is a scam, don't waste your money

I would give them 0 if I could. WORST health insurance company ever. They are not friendly to foreigners. They have been nothing but a nightmare.

I am absolutely outraged by my recent experience with TK. The claim that you provide coverage both in Germany and abroad is nothing but a blatant lie. When it comes to reimbursement, your process is not only unnecessarily complicated, but your explanations are also utterly insufficient. To make matters worse, your English language support is unreliable and inconsistent.
I was reimbursed a mere 1% of what I paid for medical services in another European country. Your explanation for this abysmal reimbursement rate is that you can only reimburse based on German rates. For example, my doctor charged me 123€ for a consultation, and TK only reimbursed me 13€, claiming that this is the standard rate in Germany. This is completely unacceptable, considering that I have been paying 10% of my salary to TK for years and barely used any service.
I am appalled by this situation and can't help but feel that I am dealing with a mafia-like organization. Your services are far from satisfactory, and your claims of comprehensive coverage are utterly misleading

Have been insured with them for many years, always a great experience, especially the customer service is far beyond the level of any company I've ever encountered!

Horrible customer support – each agent gives you different information. They are slow and inefficient. Also, the line on the website that states the support is English is a lie, there were multiple times that a person would speak German.
I was before at MH-Plus. For seven years. Then one day at work we had a visit from some agent girl from TK. I compared the stats and it turned out I could sparen about 80 euros per year by joining TK. Very happy about my decision. At the gym came one day a Barmer agent to try to poach some new customers. When I told him I am at TK he said there's nothing that can say to beat that. TK are the best. I rest my case. :)

I applied for a student health insurence on July 20 and it took them more than a month to review my application after I called and requested them multiple times. Finally, I managed to find out that they send some kind of document by post on August 24. When I called them, they said we hope you will get it in the next few day. However, I still did not get it. Now, I have nothing but rely on the hope and luck instead of proffessionalism and dedication by TK. I wish I knew the process takes 2 months. I would look for other options. Very disappointing.
Very friendly office bearers, quick response. very little bureaucracy. Hassle-free interactions.

Always very helpful and polite. I have never had a bad experience with TK. I would recommend TK to anyone and everyone. Thank you for the great work.

Moving on from being an employee to freelancer has been super bad experience. It's basically a part-time job being in TK.
Every week I get a new document I need to fill out or send, when I take longer (because guess what, I have a job and a life), they either pause my membership or send a money collection company - even though they take their sweet time answering each new document with a new document request.
Their support is full of support and promise everything is fine. In practice, they have zero internal communication, so they say what they say and the collection company still sends their letter.
A never-ending saga of documents for almost a year. If you are a freelancer - stay away.

Terrible experience signing up. First they register me as a "man" in the system even though I am a woman. Then they send me letters with freishaltcode that doesnt work, and einmal-kennwort that doesnt work either. It has been a month since signing up and I am still trying to sort things out with them. So many mistakes!

I have only dealt with this particular health insurance provider in Germany. Whilst I can recommend them for their prices (though this is not recent info, signed up few years ago) and the ease at which they signed me up, their customer services was/is with a LOT of room for improvement. I was promised some call backs - never received them. The staff seems uninformed about their own processes, I had to do my own research to figure out how to obtain my own medical records in summary style. They also debited my bank account without explanation as to why. When/if I am in a position where I would have a choice, I would shop around. Unfortunately that`s 2 stars out of 5 - customer services was a letdown, rude staff in Koln branch and random bank account debits with potential to mess up credit score.
I finally received the call back, they apologised for their mistake yet gave a bizarre explanation, I couldn't be bothered to find logic in it. having worked as QA manager, good customer service - it was my job. So I found it strange how the person who called seemed to think that laughing was acceptable at the end of the call. Had me, the customer, at some point in the call would have indicated that I find it funny, then yes - we both could have had a laugh about this "error". I didn't indicate that I taught it was funny. Person speaking with me had very poor empathy levels and did not adapt to clients communication style.
"I don`t know how to talk to you." I think this person said on the call. Well, if that`s the case then why chose to call people if you know you`ll have English language problems whilst communicating? It`s strange how a company who markets themselves to English speaking expats/immigrants have not hired people with good English skills.
They responded with apologies that they cannot resolve something in detail here and I should be calling some number. I have better things to do. Trustpilot is for reviews, both positive and negative not a place for non stop complaining or for companies to provide customer services. But it is valuable source of information for companies to take on board and improve upon. So if this company only responds to Trustpilot reviews instead of escalating them to relevant teams or asking customers to contact such teams - that`s not a company open to feedback or learning.

Quick response and English available.
I moved from another public health insurance company to TK 3 years ago and terminated my membership because of leaving Germany. I am really satisfied with their service.
Quick response, English hotline is most of the time available, and quick reimbursement.
Definitely recommended

I was double charged and every time i call they say the same thing- " i will send this to the special team. Cannot answer how long it takes for a refund, just saying next week, neex week, next week?
Don't fall into their false marketing campaigns, their services are useless. In the so called world top class German health care system, I pay tons of money and yet still no access the doctors. I begged many doctors to take me in, they are either full or not even picking up the phone. I walked in sick, they refused me anyway although it is illegal. I called tk krankenkasse for help, but no chance. They keep saying the clinic is required to take me in when I am sick but they dont obviously. I used their online booking system, they, THEMSELVES, even couldnt find an appointment. After a week, they said they will increase the radius search and at the end of 2 weeks, they sent another email again saying that they couldnt find an appointment. However, they still keep charging and claiming that they have a booking system. If it is useless and do not work, what's the point apart from creating wrong impression to bring more people. Such a shame! Better get a private health insurance, at least you might have a chance. And German health care system?? It is a waste, stone age process, yet still so arrogant to see. Well, you wake up when all the educated people moves to nearby countries.

As an Expat…of all the service providers I have dealt with in Germany, TK is by far most the best. Service is fast, Efficient, Call Center is friendly and they go out of their way to ensure you assisted. English is never an issue. You rock…
Lots of digital services, fast response times, good mobile app, and English is used without issues.

I have been told as a student with EU health insurance card that the service would have been already covered. Results: after 6 months of fighting to delete the subscription I have to pay 672 EUR because nothing was covered. As****es!
The worst possible place to get any services for health. I applied for the insurance three months back and still haven't received my insurance card. And when tried to call them to book an appointment for a doctor, they are always busy. Tried more than 25 times.
So if you're ill, don't rely on them.
You might as well die before they can even pick a call.
