  1. Musical Instrument Store

Written by the company

The Music Works (TMW) is Singapore's best music workshops & instruments store for digital pianos, keyboards, guitars, drums of Casio, Yamaha, Korg, and Roland for more than 10 years. We started in 2012 as Absolute Piano, but as time passes, we developed our utility as a music school and instrument store that sells and taught not only digital piano or keyboard but other musical instruments such as drums, ukulele, acoustic & electric guitars for classical, pop, & jazz genres. Now, we've rebranded as The Music Works since 2016.

Hostile, Sarcastic Staff Members

Ordered a piano from this establishment on an online marketplace (Shopee), they marked it as "shipped" on the same day, then it became a preorder awaiting shipment from supplier when I enquired. Requested a cancellation, since they had a "no-questions asked" return policy anyway, they proceeded to ask many questions and do their utmost to deny the request.

Music Works staff continued to gaslight me, saying it was my responsibility to do this and that, to ensure that the item would reach me in the timeframe I require, while ignoring the simple fact that they marked the item as IN STOCK and SHIPPED to me, when it was in fact a PREORDER. They also repeatedly quoted Shopee policies as if I'm supposed to know seller terms.

Just sad that they are unwilling to own up to their own mistakes, redefine simple English terms to suit their own agenda, and pin the entire incident on me, while ignoring the simple FACTs that 1) "limited stock" doesn't mean anything special to the customer, anyone shopping would just treat it to mean as long as can buy, means in stock. 2) Shipped status means shipped to customer, even if you want to insist a piano in transit within Singapore can take 2 weeks, it still doesn't mean shipped from supplier to reseller.

This review was posted on Google, and Music Works responded in a hostile manner, coming up with all sorts of reasons why the whole thing was my fault (I didn't order early enough, didn't check with them on stock level before ordering), while ignoring what they did wrong. They also misrepresented sequence of events.

Worst of all, their Shopee agent engaged in a long argument with me and made several sarcastic remarks. The "agent" repeated the terms "facts" and "normally" in the same manner as the Google review responses. When I said they were the same person they comically denied it. Overall, just a very unprofessional establishment that takes things personally.
