I can’t rate Tod highly enough

I can’t rate Tod highly enough. I prefer to buy in person at events. His knowlege and passion are obvious to see and is always pushing the boundaries of traditional craft. On the few times I have ordered online the items have been well packaged and delivered very quickly. His items are made to be used, often not modern machine perfect but reflect the imperfect hand made quality of the period, this touch makes his items even more living history accurate, individual and personal.

Not worth your money. Bad customer service.

I ordered a hammer and paid a little over 400€ plus 100€ in tax and tariff. I received a damaged package and when I opened it I was surprised to see that they had just thrown the hammer in there. There was no display box for it considering it’s such an expensive item. I had also requested very kindly to put a short personal note in there since it was a birthday gift but got nothing. We have experienced much better with other companies and won’t be purchasing anything from Tods Workshop anymore.

Great, authentic Quality

I have ordered multiple Items on several occasions and have never been dissapointed, the Items have been very well received gifts, personal Items. And valued in my Immediate Community of Medieval enthusiasts.

While the delivery at times can take a while due to Customs at the EU-UK border. This can easily be anticipated with a bit of planning.

The added benefit of knowing to support the work of Tod on Youtube is exceptional.

Utterly disappointing customer service!

I have ordered a couple of items from Tod’s Workshop previously and had good quality products and customer service. However, I ordered a strike light and needle case for my brother’s Christmas present recently. Case is lovely, but strike light was slightly damaged where the rivet had been hammered in too far and marked the other side. It was one of three and the only mark, but very noticeable.

When I complained I got no reply.

I then chased and was told that “it is a true representation of how things would have been in Medieval times. Nothing would have been perfect and the little mark cannot be considered a flaw in the product.”

I am astounded at this excuse! While I appreciate that the item is handmade - whether a medieval or a current consumer, I would expect the best possible finish, indeed, that is what I paid for! To say that is be expected is not sufficient regardless of the century. I also don’t appreciate being left without an answer for so long unless I chase. And tell me does this excuse work for every faulty product they have?!

Honestly, such bad customer service and not what I’m used to with this company.
