Opportunity to amend or correct the new written draft.

Topresume is a scam. They send me a resume that was obviously AI generated because that was exactly what chatbots that I use wrote for me. They are outsourcing writing to someone in Middle East or South Asia. When I looked at the properties of the document Author name and timezone showed that. The writer "assigned' to me had a fake American sounding name. If I want AI generated content why would I hire someone when I can do myself for free. This is unethical and fraud. I am looking for options to file complaint against them.

Easy to use. And quick turn around

Zach was a Superstar! Took everything I sent him including my life information and skills and incorporated that into everything he could. That is very important to me! TL;DR: If you already know how to search, apply, and follow up, you don’t need this $2,000 placement service. For experienced IT professionals, it felt misaligned and—frankly—misleading, especially around the “money-back” guarantee. I requested a refund; they “reviewed my request,” said the materials met their internal quality bar, and refused—without addressing the reasons I gave for canceling. It also took five emails before they agreed to delete my data.

My experience (Professional plan, signed up 7/24/2025):

→ Sales pitch vs. reality: I was told I’d get access to jobs “not available to others” and help placing with recruiters. In practice, every role I saw was also on Google or LinkedIn. No genuine exclusives.

→ Guarantee that isn’t what it seems: They market a 12-month money-back guarantee, but the fine print made it 30 days after the 12-month period—effectively ~13 months—unless you cancel right after the first coach meeting. That structure feels designed to delay or avoid refunds.

→ Quality & coordination issues: The resume they produced scored lower than my original in their own system. The organization spans multiple brands (TopResume / Career.io / Careerminds), yet my writer and coach didn’t appear to coordinate, which came across as disjointed and unprofessional.

→ Refund handling: When I asked to cancel, they replied that they had “reviewed my refund request” and that the materials met their quality standards, so no refund—ignoring the reasons I provided for canceling.

→ Data deletion friction: It took five separate emails before they agreed to delete my data. That should have been a single, straightforward request.

Who this might be for: Maybe early-career generalists who need basic structure.

Who should skip: Senior IT professionals. The service feels templated and not tailored to seasoned specialists.

Bottom line: Read the fine print on the “money-back” guarantee. In my case, the experience appeared scammy/misleading, the deliverables were weaker than what I already had, and support focused on defending internal “quality” rather than addressing my actual concerns. I’m pursuing a chargeback with AmEx. Save your money.

The TopResume team truly exceeded my expectations. The resume provided was horribly formatted. The punctuation, grammar, and sentence structure were all poorly done.

This most recent experience is why I am choosing to write a review and express my dissatisfaction with the company.

What really pisses me off is I purchased a one time resume service and now and getting a recurring charge. They are dishonest about what you’re purchasing. Use ChatGPT it’s free and will do a better job.
