Very disappointing experience.

Very disappointing experience.

Before reserving, I was told the car was in good condition with no major damage. After waiting weeks and travelling to view it, the vehicle was not as described and still not ready.

I don’t mind normal wear on a used car, but I expected honest communication before making the trip. Deposit was returned, but the time wasted and poor experience remain.

Unfortunately, I would not recommend based on my experience.

Dishonest about condition and availability - this is TOTO MOTORS in Heywood Manchester UK

Drove almost two hours last weekend to see a car at TOTO MOTORS, in Heywood near Manchester UK, that was promised to be free from damage, scratches and tears on the leather.

Turn up TOTO MOTORS, Heywood, to find a car which has scratches on every. single. panel. They weren’t minor. And it was immediately apparent when walking up to the car.. Plenty down to bare metal. Others were down to the primer, in such a large patches of scratches too. They weren’t new either… despite it being blamed on the recent visit to the mechanic.

The rear bumper had damage and the front bumper had an awful re spray which seemed to have a mat finish. Probably an undeclared accident.

This is not going to polish out… no matter what the TOTO MOTORS sales guy tries to say. I’m not sure why they try this line... Do you think we are stupid?

Now, I understand usual wear and tear. We weren't expecting immaculate, but this car looked like it had been parked in a thorn bush every night for 10 years. You don’t tell someone who SPECIFICALLY asks for the condition that there is nothing major or easily visible... Mate, that car was a 20ft-er, at least!

Photos were in the totomotors.co.uk listing but it's not easy to tell with reflections and they weren't very high res. A video was provided, 30s instagram style, not a walk through with any close ups. Hence the specific questions.

Shame really. We went with every intention to buy from TOTO MOTORS, Heywood Manchester, after being assured it was all good and free from damage.

However, only when knocking on the door of the Manchester UK dealership were we told it was not available to go. We had planned this trip, was in contact with the seller and they didn't think to let us know before they set off. Even IF the car wasn't a sorry state, we'd have had to come all the way back to collect it another time...

I know it can be hard for car salesmen but have you tried not being dishonest and wasting peoples time? Not a good look.

TOTO MOTORS... you didn't just waste several hours of our day, you also took up time which could have been spent looking at other cars. You waste the buyers and your own time when you're dishonest.

The questions and responses are all on text too should TrustPilot need to check. FYI the TOTO MOTORS in Heywood Manchester owner also reports google reviews and has removed his logo, set the name as TM and located himself in United States on TrustPilot. Looks good...

---

EDIT: Since putting up this review TOTO Motors has tried everything to get it taken down including being reported for not following guidelines, TrustPilot checked and place it back up. He's now resorting to fake reviews with the same sort of details (posted by accounts with 1 review and in the US) probably in the hopes of getting them all removed. On google he has 12 new reviews in 3 days which were then promptly removed as fake. A shining example of trustworthiness.

Absolute time wasters

Before reserving the car online I asked if there was any damage to the inside or the body work. I was told “No damages ,car is clean. Seats are in very good condition, car is been fully polish and looks good ,except any small wear and tear but nothing major or easy visible”

After several weeks of waiting for the car to be ready as it was in and out of the mechanics every week. I finally was allowed to view it on the 13th of June, despite Toto Autos saying “Car will be ready before the 8th of June no worries”. As soon as I got there he said I was unable to take it today as it needed to go back to the mechanics. I wish he had called before to tell me before I made the 3 hour round trip journey today.

We go to the back to see the car and every panel has scratches down to the metal, it looked shocking - even at a distance. The seats were torn in places too.

I ask him why he said it wasn’t and he says all the damage was done at the last mechanic trip. Again, he knew this was important to me, so why not call in the morning knowing that I’m arriving at 11am wanting to take the car that day. Was he banking on me being blind?

He continued to tell me it would polish out.

There’s no way these deep rough grazes and bare metal scratches will polish out. Nor would polishing a seat fix the leather holes and tears. Nor were they likely all created on one mechanic visit. The sales man told me that it’s an old car and I should expect damage - yes, but I asked for photos / videos of any damage before reserving the car and was promised it was all good. It wasn’t ’wear and tear damage’ it was a neglected car and a liar of a sales guy. Even if it had been damaged so badly by the trusted mechanic that week and needed to go back for more mechanical work, he should have told me before our scheduled appointment.

Felt completely misled and lied to. Wasted journey, wasted weeks, and a very disappointing experience. Would not recommend.

After leaving this review the seller called asking me to amend it to say he gave me my deposit back. Yes, he did return the deposit on the 2nd time I asked today.

Thank you for the refund, which I expected as it was a refundable deposit. Unfortunately the review still reflects my genuine experience as a customer, which I feel is fair and accurate.

This company are rogue traders Avoid !

This company are rogue traders they sell mechanically unsafe cars with a warranty that they don’t honor as soon as you try to take the car back to them by law. They should be giving refunds but they are ignoring statutory rights and not providing avoid them at all costs.
