Very racist place

Very racist place, as soon as we spoke English they was defensive and said “ why you here “ “what you here for” we replied with “ to party and enjoy the club” they responded with “no go away, no going to happened tonight “, turns out they turn anyone who isn’t German away.

We are two French guys who have been…

We are two French guys who have been part of the techno scene for about fifteen years, both legal and underground, mostly between Paris and London, where I have been living for the past decade. We have visited many clubs across Europe without any problems. This was our first time in Berlin, and we wanted to experience what all the hype was about regarding its clubs and their so-called inclusivity.

We arrived at Berghain around midnight. The queue was said to be more than three hours long, so we decided not to take our chances. Watching from the gates, the bouncers barely said a word. They simply gave people a quick look and made a hand gesture, either toward the exit or the entrance. A lot of people were turned away. It seemed like a fifty-fifty chance at best. Waiting three hours only to be rejected would have ruined the night, so we moved on, thinking it was probably better to come either very early or very late.

Next, we tried Suicide Circus (Lockschuppen). There was no queue at all, so we thought this would be it. The bouncer asked if we spoke German, and I politely said no, only French or English. He then responded rather rudely in German, which we could not understand but clearly got the message. I repeated that we did not speak German, and he finally switched to English to tell us we were not welcome.

We decided to give it another go and headed to Tresor. The queue there was also quite short, so we tried our luck again. Unfortunately, it was the same story. The questions were not about our vibe or energy, only about where we were from and whether we spoke German. Once again, we were turned away.

Our last stop was Kater Blau. The queue was small, so we thought we would give it one final try. The atmosphere there was completely different. The bouncers were smiling, the energy felt welcoming, and they asked the right kind of questions. They did not care where we came from or what language we spoke. The music was slower than we expected, but the venue was great, with three different rooms and friendly people inside. We had a lovely time there.

I have always known techno to be about inclusivity and freedom, without barriers, just music. But in Berlin, it seems the scene is more about exclusivity. I will not be coming back here to dance, that is for sure.

I bought 4 vinyls 3 months ago

I bought 4 vinyls 3 months ago. I paid for them, but I never received them, and they haven’t responded to the two emails I sent asking for information. I don't know what to do — it seems they disappeared with my money.

Disrespectful and unprofessional…

Disrespectful and unprofessional behaviour from a woman wearing pyjamas who thinks she owns Heaven and refuses you to enter 😂, never waste your time going there, there are a lot of other places worth going to, not this one.
And also the woman in pyjama, change your outfit or change the behaviour, preferably both.

I honestly dont know how this place…

I honestly dont know how this place still got a few good reviews. The staff are very disrespectful. Some dumb mf didnt let us in just cuz she didnt feel like it. No further explanation. Its important for tourist to feel welcome so we can advertise it more. Better advertisement, more money. I guess they dont know how businesses work. Its sad really, we were looking forward tohave fun at that place

Discriminatory behavior

Discriminatory behavior:
I have been Tresor before a couple of times with friends and the experience was great. This time around however, it was the first time I was going alone. I was asked obnoxious question by the person at the entrance like “do you know what happens here?”. And upon telling them that I am just here to enjoy light techno music at first floor (how would you even know that if you have not been to the club before?!), they simply refused the entry. I have been living in Berlin for quite few years with a good grasp of how you need to dress and act in such clubs, however I have seen this discriminatory behavior specially with people with skinned color everywhere. I will not recommend this to anyone especially if you are planning to go there alone and have a darker skin.

DO NOT GO HERE

DO NOT GO HERE. I never leave reviews but this doesn’t even deserve any stars at all and deserves to be put to shame. Absolutely disgusting staff. Came here tonight as we found this club and thought it would be good for our first experience going out in Berlin but turned out to be the worst place ever and didn’t even need to go inside.
As soon as we were outside we already had a bad feeling with the way the staff were acting but we were still willing to give it a go. As soon as we went to the front to hopefully be let in, the bold guy whether he was the owner/staff/security i have no idea but he spoke to us with such a bad attitude it was shocking, when there were better ways to communicate with us and expected us to go in after that? We left straight away. They’re losing out on the attraction and money?? I’m sure it will be shut down in no time, absolute joke of a place it’s hilarious.

Discriminatory entry practices

Discriminatory entry practices. Line up for an hour and a half, and then get told, “it’s not for you”
No explanation. Not one in our party was intoxicated, actually the opposite as we had all waited in line for 90 minutes. There was no explanation or other pleasantries. We spoke to others who had been refused entry also without explanation. All were male. If that is the expectation they should have someone telling people in line, like the drug dealer who approached us while we wanted to be refused entry.

Abusive bouncers on the door

I think your some of your bouncers should go though some psychological evaluations because guy who was checking bags has some seriously worrying issues. While checking my bag bouncer found some small eyebrow twizers and small file for nails. He said I can pick them up after which I did and agreed with no issue to do so. Didn’t speculate just said no problem and thank you. I worked on doors for years and would never disrespect anyone doing this job because is hard and stressful. But seemed like it wasn’t enough for him… He then continued to be very disrespectful said is dangerous to have such items, I agreed but we found solution item is tacked away safely. I explained is for my journey home because is don’t feel safe ( I was on many occasions on my way home either harassed and once chased by a rapist) he then said with in most hateful psychotic way that he doesn’t f***** care. What the hell… . Who says things like this? Sociopath most likely. Additionally he was just shouting and being supper abusive and arrogant. Man had bad mood and acted like he owed Tresor himself. Rest of your staff was super nice and respectful , cool and understanding . People go to clubs to have fun and forget about about stuff and not be triggered and stressed by someone like that. There was no need for his abusive behavior.

Best club in Berlin.

This is the real deal.
Even though the history speaks for itself i feel i should write a review for this awesome place. I have spend countless nights at Tresor and never got disappointed.
They don't try to follow trends but stick to serious underground Techno. As at the original location the upstairs area called "Globus" is a little more soft and House music oriented. With a nice bar area to hang out.
The downstairs "Tresor" area on the other hand features everything a serious techno place needs: A dark concrete dancefloor with minimal light effects accompanied by an even darker chill out area.
There's also a bar of course and lots of dark corners to hang out and do whatever you want. The guest selection is usually a good balance between locals and foreigners.

For all the haters that didn't get in:
Even though the place is not small there's limited space and the bouncer crew obviously can't let anybody in.
If you just look out of place you'll probably not get in.
If you look for a posh place and ask for a vip table and champagne don't even try it. You're definitely at the wrong place. Tresor is not a discotheque.
If you're in a huge group full of drunk people you won't get in.
If you're a group of guys and the girls/guys ratio inside isn't great you won't get in. As usual girls have it a little easier but don't count on it!
The bouncer crew tries to find the perfect balance of serious techno fans, locals and foreigners alike.
There's also always some "out of place" people to mix it up a little and make the crowd more interesting. I love it.
I’ve always met really nice people inside and some of the „club tourists“ from around the world have become good friends.
If you follow these basic rules they will most likely let you in. They have never rejected me at the door even though i'm not a 100% fit. I am a regular though.
Before the bouncer crew changed last year i would just walk straight in. But even after an all new crew that didn't know me at all i always managed to get in.

I love this place and consider it my weekend living room :). I can't wait for the "Covid is over" reopening party. I miss this place so much.
I hope everybody on the Tresor crew is being well while we get through the virus crisis. I miss all of you. Be save!
