TriNet is helpful to Departments of One!
Overall TriNet is great, particularly for an HR Department of one and with employees in multiple states. The assistance with compliance matters & the ability to consult with someone when dealing with complex matters is very helpful. Certain departments are a bit slower to process work or resolve issues, but I believe TriNet is working to make improvements.

TriNet has been helpful for our smaller organization. The customer service via their online chat and customer success representatives are responsive and help resolve issues in great time. However, the ATS, Time and Attendance platform and user interface would benefit from upgrades in technology.

TriNet has a ton of resources and tries hard to support us. Their onboarding resources and compliance resources are insightful - including the EEO 1 component tool and I-9 resources.
Leave Management
Assistance with leave management has been super helpful. I appreciate that when I ask TriNet for information on an upcoming leave, I not only get a checklist, but all the state benefits available for that specific employee.

FSA with Trinet is a nightmare
Trinet constantly challenges every FSA purchase I make, even though it's for the same provider, for the same services that they previously reviewed and accepted.
Terrible Tax Team, Numerous mistakes
Terrible experience with their Payroll Tax department. They made numerous mistakes submitting my employee and employer payroll taxes and those got me in trouble with Unemployment Insurance. It was IMPOSSIBLE to contact the Payroll Tax team directly, I just kept getting bounced around by customer service reps, and they kept saying "the Tax team reviews tickets within 30-45 business days" even when it was urgent, with outstanding balances and unpaid taxes (from THEIR mistake!). Avoid Trinet at all cost, there are way better options (and cheaper) out there.
I would avoid this company TriNet at all costs unless you like headaches!!
I would avoid this company all together!!! Don’t waste your time. When one has questions and you’re expecting any answers good luck. They canceled my policy because I went to part time status to avoid any problems with my coverage. Keep in mind I contacted this company a month in advance prior to me going back to work. I kept on being reassured that all will be well. Needless to say TriNet canceled all my policies without my knowledge. I called numerous times trying to clarify my policies and all I heard was a reassurance that all would be well. Now since returning to work I have to reapply for new policies that from my understanding now will have preexisting conditions!! What a scam and what a Sham!! Run from this company as fast as you can!! By the way I rarely give reviews but this company takes the cake!!!

I moved away from Trinet as a PEO seven years ago, only for them to acquire Zenefits—just to shut it down with less than a year’s notice. Instead of competing fairly, they chose to eliminate the competition, leaving customers scrambling.
Thanks for the unnecessary chaos. If you value stability and ethical business practices, look elsewhere.
Garbage organization
Garbage organization. Just horrendous. They know it and they don't care.. Completely incompetent. screw up after screw up. Messed up payroll so many times. PLEASE use anyone else. this place is a disaster. In addition to their services being terrible, the only thing worse is their support. Don't do what they say, never pleasant. They make going to the DMV look like a trip to Disney.
TriNet has to be one of the worst PEOs
TriNet has to be one of the worst PEOs. Although they are able to offer a great benefit plan selection and the cost to join them is enticing, it's not worth the headache you'll have to go through once you're a client. TriNet is fraught with incompetence and their systems are limited and outdated. I spend most of my time double checking and correcting their work because even the simplest tasks are not completed correctly. For example, during implementation, I sent them our company's vacation, sick leave, and floating holiday plans and was told that everything was set up according to our plan. A few months later, we received access to view our leave plans and I noticed that ours was incorrect. When I called our HR person to find out why, I learned that they have a template on how to set up leave plans for certain states, so they did just that, without any regard to what our policy said. I then found out that TriNet's system is incapable of applying an accrual cap, so we now have to change our sick leave policy to accommodate TriNet's system. This is one of a myriad of ridiculous situations I've had to manage in our 5 months with Trinet. The clients who would be happiest at Trinet are those who don't have an HR background and wouldn't know how to tell if something is incorrect. If you are an HR professional and you have any level of attention to detail, be prepared to spend a majority of your time trying to insulate your employees and company from Trinet's ludicrous ineptitude. Even though ADP TotalSource was expensive, never paid our state taxes on time, and provided very limited benefit options, I actually miss them after working with Trinet.
