Traveling solo, I appreciated not having to worry about schedules or strangers in a group. It was just me, my headphones, and a world of stories waiting to be discovered
What I liked most was how personal it felt. I could choose what interested me instead of following a fixed route. It made the trip more about my own curiosity
It’s surprisingly affordable compared to what I’ve paid for walking tours in the past, and I think I actually got more value because of the flexibility and depth of the stories
I’ve done guided tours before, and they always felt rushed or overcrowded. With this, I could wander at my own pace and still feel like I had a knowledgeable guide
The storytelling really stood out. It didn’t feel like a textbook, more like a friend walking with me and pointing out cool bits of history and culture I’d otherwise miss
I love how flexible it is. I started the tour when I felt like it, paused for a coffee, and picked right back up without missing anything. That freedom was amazing
I tried the Trippy Tour Guide app during my trip and it was such a refreshing change. I didn’t feel tied down to group schedules and still got fascinating stories everywhere I went
Complete and utter waste of money. I did everything advised. I downloaded the maps beforehand, turned off WiFi and data. All I got was the intro, no driving instructions. Tried driving, nothing. Turned data back on, nothing. A couple of years ago I used a similar app for Route 66. It was plug & play. No faffing, it just worked. In the end we just used our Airbnb hosts instructions direct into Google Maps. Worked perfectly. TBH the apps Californian twang would sound stupid touring the Isle of Skye in Scotland. Surely a soft local accent isn't too hard to accomplish? Then again, in my experience they can't even get basics right. Avoid.
