I worked for this company...

I worked for this company...
In Canada. The men who work in the sales room are constantly sexual with the women. I am married and one of the men on the sales team ended up with a crush on me and when I rejected him, he started to act up towards me in the workplace to the point where the entire sales floor became uncomfortable. When I complained, I was made to feel like I was the person in the wrong. Like I should just let people disrespect and mistreat me at work.
If you are a woman, do not work here if you are in the Ottawa area...I haven't been able to return to work since. The next year, they kept him on the sales force to harass more women and offered me severance and told me to never tell anyone.
It's been years and I bet he's still working there, harassing other women and flipping out when they reject him.
The manager and person who owns the place are HUGE Donald Trump supporters and once complained to me about how women were difficult to work with...
They are very sexist and you should stay far away.
This was back in 2018.

Never give them your contact info

Never give them your contact info. I did about 5 years ago, and I still get cold-called about 5-10 times per season to ask if I need their services. I ask each time to please remove me from any list. What an annoying, pathetic company.

Extremely poor

Extremely poor. If they put even 1/10 as much effort into your lawn as they do into selling you stuff, they would be a solid company. I have had to complain about them not treating my backyard, then when they did start treating it, there was a patch in the back yard on the side of my house that they never treated once after a year of service.

They left my gate open and after they left I found my dog out in the street.

Another issue is them leaving signs in your yard for advertising, If they want to advertise they should ask me or pay me, I complained after hitting it with my lawn mower (I don't see so well), they said they were required by the company to do so, they refused to stop, when I called to cancel he took 5 attempts to try to get me to reconsider and give me a discount. Its funny you don't need to call to sign up for the service; but have to call to cancel the service.

I would not recommend trugreen as a lawn care provider, find a small local company that cares.

Poor results, even poorer customer service

South Florida area. I had positive results three years ago, so I tried them again this past year. My lawn actually got worse. I now have sedge and abundant goosegrass that I didn't have before, with significant patchy areas. The corporate customer service was terrible, although the local customer service was better. The technician I had for my final service was helpful, but he couldn't make up for the 8 previous, futile visits.

Trying to cancel the service is not possible on the website (my app hasn't worked since I restarted the service), so now I have to call during business hours to get the hard sell and excuses just so I can cancel. Would not recommend!

WATCH for delays in services - they purposefully rescheduled until they were out of the contract and could bill me a huge amount!

TruGreen billed me for services outside the 1 year contract. The reason they gave for not performing the services during the contract period was the weather. Performing the services after the contract ended created over $300 in charges.
I was informed there would be charges, I thought they were simply rescheduling to do the promised lawn care.
There was absolutely no way to get beyond customer service to reach any intelligent life.
They said it was in the small print that once the contract ends, it doesn't matter if Trugreen fulfilled the 7 visits during the year or not.
Absolutely would NOT recommend.
Plus the lawn looked no better and crab grass seems to have spread even further.
HORRIBLE company.

TruGreen USED TO BE an excellent lawn…

TruGreen USED TO BE an excellent lawn service company with well trained and well equipped staff. Unfortunately, they have become a high pressure sales organization that provides a poor quality lawn service with the empty promise of a free retreatment if your not satisfied.

I contracted TrueGreen in good faith

I contracted TrueGreen in good faith, based on assurances for a better lawn. I noticed zero improvement as well as the expansion of weeds and invasive grasses after two months. My "technician" advised me that TrueGreen had no treatment for the invasive grass. He advised me to "use Roundup and then place sod". Next month, I called and asked for a service manager to take a look. I was scolded by the CSR and told I needed to follow "protocol". I asked what that was and he said..."A tech needs to evaluate if there is a problem and if so, will contact a supervisor". Next "technician" told me that the lawn was over-watered (Sprinklers ran twice a week). I showed him the weeds...he hand-sprayed those. Two months later, lawn looks even worse. Invasive grass now covering 40% and weeds still coming up around walkways. The only new grass was now turning brown and dying. Completely different "technician" advised...."That's brown root rot" WTF?? I asked him if he could treat it. He shook his head and said "Too much water". These folks have no idea what they are talking about. They are SO overwhelmed by complaints that they develop policy to ignore and hope the client doesn't cancel. I just did. It took about 20 minutes of begging to finally get them to cancel. Same old promises of attention. Nope.

If you’re thinking about using TruGreen…

If you’re thinking about using TruGreen for lawn service think again. Had a sales guy come and check the lawn he gave me a prepaid price that we agreed on, a few days later I check my statement and he went back into the system and charged me more. I called to cancel the service they offered me an even lower price than I was first quoted at so I agreed. Months go by I don’t see any improvement I called and told them what kind of grass I have they said they been using fertilizer for a different type of grass. I finally canceled with two months left on prepaid service was told I would get the remaining balance it took over a month the receive the refund and it was less than what they told me I was getting back. To make a long story short you’re lawn will look better if you take care of it yourself with less headaches

Trugreen doesn’t follow contract

I prepaid for a yearly TruGreen plan with specific services and a clear schedule. Despite that, TruGreen scheduled and completed treatments outside the agreed-upon terms—without my authorization and without notice. These off-schedule visits were then counted against my prepaid plan.

On top of the scheduling problems, the results were poor. I was very disappointed in the control of dollar weed; it persisted throughout the season despite their “control” treatments.

I can’t recommend these services

I can’t recommend these services; the job was marked finished several times and after several complains online, in person, and by email they never provide me full service that I paid for. Last time, aeration service was only 1/3 of my lawn. After that I cancelled my service but now I got a due bill of over $300. This is outrageous.

Unworthy Please do not use their services-Dallas Metro- Red Oak area

Please do not use these services. I have experienced this three times within a year, where the technician signs off as completing the job but never actually shows up at my property.

My lawn still has weeds, despite paying approximately $145 for treatments or services, which I believe is too much. The salesman who persuaded me to sign up—likely named Charles—told me I could call him directly to address any concerns or re-schedule services. However, despite multiple attempts to reach him, I have received no response. The only time he responded was when trying to sell me mosquito services; otherwise, my concerns have been ignored.

I do not recommend using a large company like TruGreen. It’s more cost-effective and reliable to hire someone dependable who is not fraudulent.

The Trugreen Rip Off

After a so called misunderstanding about my lawn size in 2024 , I decided to give Trugreen a second chance in April 2025(BIG mistake). Steve Lindsey the person that sold me the contract said he would have to fudge the numbers to be able to give me the same price as last year. I prepaid the $614.02 for their Trucore lawn plan.
After that the problems began, I had to call Steve Lindsey several times to let him known my lawn was not being serviced. The only reply he would give me was that he would look into why it wasn't being done (no help at all). So I decided to call the 1-800 customer service number. I talked to two Reps named Erica and Suri ,both were very polite and concerned about the situation and I knew there was only so much they could do so asked to meet with a supervisor. I was told Mike Watson the area supervisor would be contacting me to set up a meeting time. After finally getting in contact with him, he told me he was too busy to meet with me and would sending someone else. Imagine that too busy. A few days later I met with Quin S. who was not a supervisor and said the condition of my lawn due to lack of servicewas unacceptable and that the next two services would be free. Only one was free. I was still digging up weeds by hand in September. This company should not be in business reported to the AG,s office . J. Fowler (Boise)

Second Time Around Was Worse

I used these people 15 years ago, when it was Chem Lawn. They didn't keep their promises then, and I left them. Now they are Tru Green, so I decided to give them one more chance. My first visit was postponed twice and pushed back 11 days from the original promised date. My first treatment consisted of fertilization for my weeds, instead of weed eradication! Now after they applied granular fertilizer to my lawn, my weeds will be healthier and more profuse than ever before. I called them to complain about their deceptive business practices, and one of the managers told me what I wanted to hear, but her words were not worth 2 plug nickels. She promised that my technician would revisit my property the very next morning to address what they did not do the day before, but when tomorrow came no one was on the schedule to complete the promised work. They will go back on their word and they cannot be trusted. Their "Healthy Lawn" guarantee is a joke and so are their salespeople and managers. Stay far away from these shysters and hire some other idiot.

Do NOT go with TruGreen

Do NOT go with TruGreen. They will gladly take your money but will not take care of your lawn. The salesman promised that my weeds would be gone within a couple of months and said everything was guaranteed. Five months later, my lawn looks worse than ever.

Their so-called “all-in-one” spray is supposed to kill weeds and fertilize the grass, but that’s a lie. It only made the weeds grow faster and thicker. Even the manager came out, saw how bad it was, and admitted it looked terrible — but still, nothing was done to fix it.
Their customer service sounds friendly and makes you feel like they’ll help, but they don’t do anything. There is absolutely no guarantee despite what they promise. Now I’m left with a lawn full of weeds that looks worse than when I started.

Dead Plants Several Times

Greater Houston Area--Several times when they put on a weed control product we had plants die in our landscaping. I think they were not careful to keep spreader under control. They burned the grass twice with spills while fertilizing. Manager came out and tried to say plants died for other reasons but could not explain the correlation to their herbicide applications and multiple plants within 2 weeks post treatment. He also had to acknowledge when I pulled the data sheets on the herbicide that it could kill the plants in question.

I had similar issues several years ago and gave them a second chance. In this case, two strikes and you are out.

WARNING! STAY AWAY FROM TRUGREEN COMPANY!! THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY & KILL YOUR LAWN!! PLUS, YOU WILL HAVE TO FIGHT FOR YOUR REFUND!!!

We started with TruGreen because we had seen them at our neighbors house with a nice lawn.

I have 5 1/2 acres, and have been with for three years. The last two and a half years’ service has declined significantly, as well as the Customer Service Agents attitudes. The TruCore Lawn Plan service I prepay for every year, so it’s cheaper. Well, that old saying “ You Get What You Pay For” is ringing true when you hire TruGreen!
1st Year lawn is looking good; however, trying to get the scheduling for them to come out on the days I work from home so I can unlock the gate and they can treat the fenced-in pool area was like pulling teeth!! I gave them the 3 same days I worked from home every week so they could plan my schedule. However, every month in my TruGreen app, they would schedule me for a day I was not working from home, and I would have to call them and fight with them just to get my schedule every month, and this went on for 3 years!
2nd & 3rd Year I Pre-Pay for the TruCore Lawn Plan. I noticed I had gotten brown patches and red thread, both diseases of the lawn, which we had not been there before. So I requested that it be looked at and find out how to treat it.
TruGreen came out and told me what I already knew about the problem, and told me it was hit or miss with these problems. Also, with the TruCore Lawn Treatment, my lawn will improve and green nicely. So we took his advice and waited for the lawn to improve like he said it would. Fast forward to the middle of year 3, and our lawn is looking like it’s in critical condition! Crispy, burnt-up lawn all over! We have a septic system, and our D-Box could clearly be seen with burnt lawn all over. So we took matters into our own hands and called TruGreen to push treatment dates back so we could see what we could do ourselves. Seeing as my husband is a research scientist, he found the treatment we needed for the brown patches and red thread treatment. We did. Well, I didn’t mow for 2 weeks, and we watered the lawn if it didn’t rain. After the mowing, our lawn looked absolutely beautiful!! No brown patches, No Red Thread, and No weeds!! ALL WITHOUT TRUGREEN TREATMENT, MY LAWN HAS BEEN REVIVED!!

Now that we realized that TruGreen is “NOT”TRUE at all with their chemical products they are applying to ours, and thousands of other unexpected customers! So I called TruGreen’s cancellation department for a refund of the 2 remaining prepaid treatments at $452.00 each totaling $904.00. Well, as many of you already know, TruGreen needs a lesson in math!! Because they only refunded me for $627.92. Which we all should know is short $175.92. Also, I had Aeration and Seeding prepaid plan done in the beginning of the Spring to help my lawn, which was a huge waste of money! So I had a credit on this account for $191.00 that I told them to put it back to my credit card back in July of this year. Come to find out that they never did it. So I told the agent to please credit that back to me as well, and she told me everything was taken care of with my refunds, as well as closing my account with TruGreen, not wanting to be a customer anymore!

Today, 9/16/2025, I checked my credit card account and found 2 refunds from TruGreen, not in the refund amount as it should be!
1st $627.92, and 2nd $172.00. So again I called the cancellation department and explained everything to the agent. She was rude, uneducated, and a liar!! I asked for her supervisor and she put me on hold for 10 minutes, only to come back and say that there is no one available!! Liar again! I called back and asked to speak to a supervisor right away and unfortunately received a rude one!! She went on to say that a General Manager will call me back in 24 hours because she said that she looked through the notes before taking the call which is impossible because the agent had her on the phone in seconds, another lie! She was abrupt to say that they will not refund me any more money, and that is why the GM has to speak with me!!

The Technicians, I don’t need to do a review Because the reviews on them say it all!!!

Oh, remember my neighbor that had TruGreen when we moved in? Our reasoning for hiring them to begin with! Well, they fired them for applying product on their lawn, and it burned. This same neighbors lawn now looks Green, and Thriving!!!

My advice: just like thousands of other people’s reviews say, “STAY AWAY FROM TRUGREEN COMPANY.” THEY WILL KILL YOUR LAWN, AND TAKE YOUR HARD-EARNED MONEY!!
THEY ARE A SCAM COMPANY THAT MAKES UP LIES JUST TO GET YOU BELIEVING THEM!
DON’T BELIEVE ANYTHING THEY SAY OR THEY WILL DO FOR YOU!!!u

Hire if You Want to Kill Your Grass

We hired TruGreen for their "expert" care. Our lawn now looks worse than it ever has, even areas that were green before are now dead and brown. Large, unsightly dead patches have appeared in areas that maybe needed fertilization before they started their "service." It is painfully obvious that their chemical applications are either inconsistent, incorrect, or both. They haven't nurtured our lawn; they've actively damaged it.

The situation is truly laziness personified. The reason for the terrible results became clear by watching the so-called "technicians" on multiple occasions pull up in the middle of the street blocking traffic, not attempt to park or knock on the door to see if we were home to talk to us, to perform a rushed, 90-second service where they sprint across the lawn haphazardly spraying, with no care for even coverage. They never sent the same person either so likely added to inconsistency in all this.

On top of that, the customer service experience has been the final insult.Trying to get anyone to address the dead spots or the skipped services is a nightmare. Calls go unanswered when you ask for a manager as they try to keep you by saying results aren't guaranteed only service, which they've dropped the ball on both so either way money is owed back to us.

The most shocking demonstration of their incompetence is their representative's inability to correctly calculate the total amount we paid to date by just looking at records. I had to look at my own bank app and do the math myself. If they cannot perform basic math or use of a calculator, how can they possibly be trusted to handle complex chemical applications for my lawn? It would be a joke to let you come back and ruin my lawn MORE especially knowing your entire staff basically owns that you all are inconsistent from the technicians to the phone reps all dry snitching on each other about the way things operate internally.

The avoidance of receiving a manager callback is clear because they don't want to lose a contract and they clearly don't want to refund the money for poor services and for the damage done to our lawn. So do not make the same mistake we did. Save your money and your lawn. Avoid TruGreen at all costs.

Caught by the Ring doorbell

My ring doorbell caught them not once but twice just sticking their little flag in my yard stating that they had treated it when in reality they did not. Sure, they supposedly sent another guy out after I complained but how many times has it happened when I didn't catch them. Untrustworthy! I do not recommend!
