I have been using Trugreen for years

I have been using Trugreen for years. My lawn looks great every year. I have cameras and watch now and then. I have never seen them just spray randomly. If there is a problem, I call and they will come back out to respray. I also use the tree service for my Blue Spruce. I am very satisfied with the service!

this company is a joke

this company is a joke. I cancelled my service with store #5100 3 months ago due to my grass being fried and ants kept coming. Then a week later a person shows up to treat my yard and was half baked when he showed up at my door. I cancelled the treatment and even called to tell True Green that. Had several conversations as they kept sending me notices. "All handled and no further charges"... bogus. I got a collection notice today. Run. They will charge your card without permission and not deactivate your account. Worst pest control out there. Unorganized and unprofessional.

Flea, Tick, Mosquito treatment DOES NOT WORK!

Where do I start? First, I paid close to $700 for flea, tick, and mosquito control. This amount was for JUST my back yard, which I was agreeable to. I primarily wanted it for the flea control because we spotted some on our dog. TruGreen has been out here I believe 3 times now and then a couple of call backs because their product does not work.
Part 2: Good luck if you want to speak to anyone locally to try to resolve. Even when I call a "local" number, it sends me to whatever call service center they are using in whatever country (definitely not ours) and I then spend way too much time barely understanding the person on the other line and they have NO skin in the game. I'm done! Don't waste your money or your time with this so called product of theirs.
I will continue to use them (as I have for years) to service my yard (fertilization, weed & feed, etc.). They need to stick to what they know though. After my wasted money on this, I am going to call a true expert, Cook's Pest Control, to get my problem resolved.

Mixed Experience!

The first few visits were promising, but then my lawn started developing patches again. It feels like they just rush through the treatments. I expected better consistency from a big company like TruGreen.

These folks come to your home chewing…

These folks come to your home chewing their tobacco and spitting all over. Every time I give them another try, the lawn gets worse. This year, I used their competitor and in just one treatment, my lawn is nearly perfect. I think Trugreen beefs up their business by wrecking your lawn and taking you through a grueling series of treatments over many months and then suddenly the lawn is good.

Bad lawn service

I didn't want to do it.myself.cause I had crabgrass and weeds so I had trugreen do the service.i received the rock and shrub service and the lawn service.disapointed in all the services.weeds in the rock haven't disappeared and weeds in lawn are a joke. The techs have been horrible about doing there job correctly.had a senior tech do both lawn and rock weeds haven't changed.i will not do there service anymore especially next year.neighbors lawn he does it himself.no weeds at all.i wish I would have not paid 200.00 a application for.both services.i can pull the weeds myself and save myself the heartache and money.i live in idaho and it's waste of money. Great branding, terrible services

Big brand, big let-down. I decided to try their lawn-care service this year, and both visits were the same story: the tech zipped around, spraying a few random patches and leaving huge sections untouched. Watching it happen twice made me suspect this half-hearted approach might be standard practice in my area. Oddly enough, my mother-in-law’s yard looks terrific under the same company, different city—so maybe it just comes down to which crew shows up. Either way, I’m done paying premium prices for spotty work. Next season I’ll carve out the time and handle the lawn myself.

I would’ve rated it less than one star…

I would’ve rated it less than one star because they failed to perform the service that they indicated was completed stuck a flag on my lawn, but my cameras do not show any true green employee doing any kind of service on my lawn… I have since canceled the service and asked for a full refund

I just can not recommend....very disappointed

I had my first lawncare service with TruGreen on May 15th and I am extremely disappointed. They were supposed to provide weed control, fertilizer treatments. For 12 years, I have done this on my own and this time due to a very busy schedule, I thought I'd ask the 'experts'. And 2-3 weeks later and I see that their weed control treatment has had little to no impact. I asked for a refund and I am still waiting. They refuse to address the situation. My yard has been run amok with weeds, the first time in 12 years. I just can not recommend them at all for their service delivery and for their customer service.

Big money grab

The service states they come out every 4-6 weeks. I told them keep it at 6 weeks. They will not listen, they keep sending technicians out every 3-4 weeks sometimes sooner. This isn’t about the health of my grass this is about cramming in as many applications as they can. The technicians are children. It’s a gigantic money grab. I told them if they come to my house again I will call the BBB.

Why I believe that TruGreen (TG) has a Boiler-room Sales operation…

Why I believe that TruGreen (TG) has a Boiler-room Sales operation and yet says they don't (they call it aggressive sales) You be the judge; but beware of what TG sales tells you or agrees to......in my case there was a total disconnect between sales and execution (and in my humble opinion they like it that way and won't change)...

What I experienced was that TG "over promise & over committed" just to get me to sign on; but then TG Under Delivered

As a condition to my signing up, TG sales agreed that "Before or at their 1st Weed & Feed (W&F) that someone would come out to inspect my lawn and discuss with me, my concerns" I mentioned that I was not just interested in TG, if they were was just another W&F.
TG Sales agreed to someone from TG locally would come out to my property; and check why I have trouble growing, even new, grass in areas where tree stumps were ground down (Lo Nitrogen?) and at a balding area which is on the border line of an adjacent property, that I suspected was coming from insects (grubs?). TG would even do a soil sampling and get back on what needed to be done.
TG Sales did agreed to all this, on their phone call that both they & I recorded.
If this is NOT boiler sales? What is it, Bait & switch?
At my 1st W&F, the driver of pump truck know nothing about any of what I was told; but did agree to tell his boss when he got back & I agreed to let him do the W&F ...After waiting several more days, I called and informed TG that no other work was agreed to until they honored their agreement...... Still nothing, so I called to cancel my contract. They could not do it; but I would get a call to confirm my cancellation. This call was an attempt to get me to stay with TG; but they did confirm my cancellation. .... On all the calls I received, before and after, I cancelled; I asked TG to listen to the recorded sales call. ..... I also received emails........... Any future calls or emails from TG, I simply tell then to stop calling since I have no contract and when they (again) ask what happened, I tell them to listen to the sales call and stop asking me what happened and what TG can we do now.
I cancelled because TG failed to honor their commitment and seemed happy to do W&F.
If anyone knows of any class action cases being considered or brought TG, because of their "aggressive sales" approach, let me know.

NOT A HAPPY CUSTOMER

I told the technician when he came out that we had crab grass and wanted it gone. This was in February.2025. He said no problem they could take care of it. Well it's now May and my yard is 90%crab grass. I called customer service and they would send someone out and put in the notes about the crab grass. They came out on May 28th. When the young man got here, he said his sprayer was broke but he had a hand spreader that he could put some fertilizer down. I said thanks but no thanks. I have had nothing disappointment since we contacted them. I am currently looking for someone new. Also I don't like that I can never talk to someone local. I am always sent to a call center in Trinidad.

Headache that is TruGreen

I was contacted via email by the manager of my local TruGreen branch, who informed me of significant promotional discounts. I responded to request an estimate and subsequently received a quote that included a prepay discount offer. However, the email lacked any terms and conditions regarding the service.

I was assured that all areas of my lawn, including those I had expressed concern about, would be properly treated. Based on these assurances, I accepted the offer and made the payment. Unfortunately, the service delivered was substandard—my lawn not only failed to improve but actually deteriorated.

As a result, I decided to handle my lawn care myself this year and did not renew my service with TruGreen. Despite this, I have continued to receive persistent and unwanted contact from the company, claiming that I owe money for this year's service. They now assert that the service is automatically renewed, although there was no mention of auto-renewal in any of the communications I received.

After speaking with several representatives over multiple conversations, the issue was eventually resolved. I was informed that a technician had incorrectly marked a service as completed when, in fact, no service had been performed.

They left us with a yard full of dead grass

We hired TruGreen in 2024 to treat a few weeds in our front yard. They came out twice, but afterward, more than half of our front yard was completely bare. We were told not to worry—they had put down grass seed and promised we'd see healthy new growth by summer. Unfortunately, the lawn looks even worse now.

I called to express my concerns, and they convinced me to extend the treatment to both the front and back yards. They offered partial services for free and some at a discount. Our backyard originally had just a few weeds but was mostly green and healthy. After two additional treatments, about 85% of our backyard grass is now dead.

When I sent them photos, they claimed it was our fault—saying most of our lawn had been weeds, not grass, and that their products don’t kill healthy grass. While they did refund the last few treatments, we’re now left with a severely damaged lawn and will need to hire another company just to restore it to the condition it was in before TruGreen started.

The representative I worked with took no responsibility and blamed us for the damage. If it were true that our entire lawn was weeds, they should have warned us upfront that their treatments would leave us with bare dirt. Instead, they reassured us we'd have nice, green grass.

I wouldn’t be writing this review if the company had been honest, helpful, or taken responsibility. Based on our experience, I would not recommend TruGreen to others.

Misleading a senior citizen!

A representative came to my door- advertising a promotional service- $27 for a one time application. I verified twice/ that I was not signing up for service- only the promotion/ we are moving soon and, besides, their normal service is too expensive for us. The representative said- absolutely- it was a one time promotion. This week. I received a bill- service for 7 months- at $98 per application! I called immediately and was informed that I DID agree to service! This was not true! She did say she would cancel the service. I hope so. This was clearly a misrepresentation. I will never use or recommend Truegreen.

Buyer Beware

We have been a customer for 4 years. Our lawn is now 75%+ crab grass. The service manager visited my home to look at the lawn - which, as previously stated, they have been servicing for 4 years.
I was told that their service treats only dandelions and a few other weeds.
The suggested solution was to re sod my lawn.
TruGreen is owned by a private equity firm - and the minimal service, is a reflection of the ownership structure.
Buyer beware.

I'm not even a customer

I'm not even a customer, I'm the neighbor of a customer. The lawn tech didn't check the address and sprayed my yard instead. So far all my seedlings in the first foot of my whole garden have died from drift. I called them to report the issue and can't even get a call back. Instead I've now reported it to Ohio Department of Agriculture. These guys are hacks. Save your money and do your research. Use a reputable company.

Not impressed with first visit.

I had a different lawn company a couple years ago but after watching all the "hyped" commercials thought I'd give them a try. They scheduled for 3/17. They came out but only did 5 mins of spreading in the front yard and didn't even touch the side or backyard and was billed $70. I called them they didn't even touch the sides and back and they said they would reschedule for 3/20. They didn't show up, I called again and rescheduled for 3/25. Still didn't show up, I called again and they rescheduled for 3/26. They finally came out to spread weed and feed on the sides and back yard. A few weeks later I can see where they did the spreading, I now have green lines about 10' apart. I'm not impressed and canceled all future treatments.
