Toxic Work Environment

Many cons. I should have paid closer attention to the red flags during the hiring process. Once new attorneys join, it becomes immediately clear that there is absolutely no structure. There is no training, no onboarding, and no support. The environment is completely chaotic, and there are truly no positives to highlight.

Leadership is toxic from the top down. The founder and the founding attorney set the tone with their behavior, which is consistently rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. Their attitude is often openly demeaning. Many of my colleagues who interviewed directly with the founding attorney refused the offer altogether because of how condescending and disrespectful the interaction was. That speaks volumes about the culture here.

There are also questionable practices that raise serious ethical concerns. The founder would often pressure attorneys to file cases they were uncomfortable with, creating an environment where legal professionals felt forced to compromise their judgment. On top of that, there is no communication between the sales team and the legal team, which leads to repeated misrepresentation of timelines and services to clients. The engineering team operates completely as its own unit with no integration into the rest of the business, which only adds to the chaos.

The lack of organization makes it nearly impossible to succeed. Workflows change constantly without notice, priorities are unclear, and expectations are unrealistic. New hires quickly realize they are left on their own without resources or guidance while being subjected to toxic leadership and unpredictable demands.

Overall, this is not a place for anyone who values professionalism, respect, or stability. The combination of poor leadership, lack of structure, questionable practices, and openly hostile treatment makes this an extremely unhealthy and demoralizing workplace. If you are an immigration attorney who wants to keep your reputation in the industry, please stay away.

TryAlarma interview process

I don't know how they treat their clients, but they treat their potential partner-type employees extremely badly.

They asked me to build an entire platform (including a landing page and dashboard, making it only responsive-friendly) in 24 hours (with 48 criteria) and provided no feedback afterward. They didn't give solid requirements and refused to provide any references to help.

The role was for a Partner Staff Software Engineer. If you're thinking about working with these guys, simply don’t. They don’t care about future partners, and they won’t care about you either.

Great Service, Great People

Alma were able to comprehensively address questions that I had been unable to get answers to for months around the H1-B Visa, in 30 minutes. They were incredibly helpful and easy to talk to, and I cannot recommend them enough.
