The most amazing tutor school - highly recommend
I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have been put in contact with Nick and his team at a very difficult time for our family.
My son, who has autism, had spent an extended period of time out of school and ultimately found himself having to homeschool, with less than a term remaining before his GCSEs. With very little time to prepare, Nick pulled together a teaching programme within just two weeks that not only addressed my son’s academic needs, but also recognised the importance of his emotional and pastoral wellbeing.
One of Nick’s greatest strengths was his genuine understanding of SEN and the individual needs of my son. He understood that supporting a young person with additional needs is not simply about adapting the academic work, but about understanding how they communicate, how they process information, what can overwhelm them and how to build their confidence and trust. Nick was exceptionally patient and flexible, adapting his approach according to how my son was feeling on any given day. He never made my son feel that his autism was a barrier or something that needed to be overcome; instead, he understood how to work with him as an individual and bring out the very best in him.
Nick was an amazing science tutor, but he quickly became much more than that to my son. At a time when he was isolated from his peers and emotionally vulnerable, Nick became someone my son trusted and genuinely looked forward to seeing. He was incredibly understanding of his needs and knew how to motivate him without adding to the pressure he was already feeling.
Nick was also happy to coordinate the sessions provided by his team with the tutoring that was already in place throughout my son’s GCSE studies. The whole approach was incredibly well organised and, most importantly, completely centred around my son and what he needed.
The grades my son ultimately achieved, having spent around 50% of his GCSE years out of school, are nothing short of remarkable. Nick and his team managed to motivate him to put his head down, believe in himself and power through an incredibly challenging period. He achieved an almost clean sweep of grades 7–9 and is now attending his first-choice sixth form.
For us, though, the most valuable part of Nick’s support went far beyond the grades. He genuinely cared about my son as an individual. Even though we no longer need Nick’s tutoring services, he has remained close to our family and continues to be a friend and an important source of pastoral support for my son.
I cannot recommend Nick and his team highly enough. They provided not just outstanding tutoring, but encouragement, understanding, friendship and belief at a time when my son needed all of those things. We will always be incredibly grateful for everything they did for him
