DO NOT USE!

Booked a slot for 4 new tyres on a Monday 8-8 waited in all day and get a phone call at 5pm to say fitters not coming, hes been delayed on a job (more like they wanted to go home early).
Needed these tyres before travelling around the country on the Wednesday. Instead of putting us first on the next day they offered Wednesday morning which was no good as we were leaving at 8:30am and they couldn't say it would be done by then. Got offered a refund which we are still waiting for! Nearly £500 which should be refunded straight away and not 3-5 days later. I've had to pay out another £500 at our local garage, who fitted the tyres within 20 minutes. Disgusting service and will never use or recommend ever again!!!!!

No more chances for this lot

I gave up on Halfords Tyres on the Drive a couple of years ago, when their operative completely failed to turn up; citing his inability to find the property and lack of time as a reason. So with that in the past i decided to give them another go, what a mistake that was.

Their operative turned up as expected (early Friday afternoon), and was quite pleasant, so no problem their; however, just after removing my old tyres from my wheels, the machine broke and was no longer able to clamp down the wheels in order to fit the new tyres.

After about an hour of phoning around, the operative stated that he would have to leave and transfer the rest of his work for the day, to another operative, who would then complete my job the following day (Saturday). I accepted that it was no fault of the operative and that i would be happy just as long as somebody was going to arrive the following day to complete the job, i explained that i want somebody to call be that day to confirm this; i had no such call.

Later the same evening, i received an e-mail (job completion receipt) alluding to the job being complete, which it wasn't, i had two wheels with no tyres on them, so i decided to try and call somebody; what a mistake that was.

After tackling Halfords telephone menu i found myself connected to what could only have been an Indian call centre. The line was terrible and I spent ages going through security checks and explaining my problem before being placed on hold for no less than 20 minutes while waiting to be connected to somebody seemingly back in the UK; at no point did anybody thank me for holding and keep me posted on what was going on. Anyway, the person i had been connected to hadn't been passed any of my information so i explained it all again only to be told that he would have to pass me to somebody else. The next person, for some reason, was actually from the National Tyre Service, and told me that there was nothing he could do as i was a Halfords customer, he then passed me back to the Halfords menu system that i had first encountered over half an hour earlier...i was furious, so hung up and just hoped that somebody would actually turn up the following day.

Well Saturday came and went; i have two wheels with no Tyres on them yet Halfords has sent me a customer satisfaction survey. I will only be satisfied when I have had a full refund. I will never use this service again. i am not suggesting that this is the fault of the operative, more likely a failure in managing such situations and terrible customer support.

Wrong Tyres Fitted

Wrong Tyres Fitted !

Unfortunately had tyres fitted this morning (by a very helpful and friendly chap), but when I went out just now after he'd left to double check, I find they've fitted the wrong tyres.

They are the right brand and size, but they've used an inferior load rating & speed rating than I had ordered (and below the specification advised by the manufacturer of the car).

I rang them, and they were apologetic on the phone, although I was on the phone for over 20 mins (mostly on hold).

But annoyingly the earliest opportunity they have to come and replace with the tyres I ordered, is in 5 days time - so not ideal.

I'm disappointed that this happened, but appreciate it's probably just simple human error. But I'm especially disappointed to have to take a half day off work next week for this error to be corrected, and more crucially that it couldn't be solved before then !

I paid for 2 x Pirelli tyres at a cost for nearly £400 and booked and paid for a time slot for Tuesday between 12 and 4pm. I received a tracking notification which shows which job the engineer is on. At 4pm no one had showed up and the tracker said the engineer was on job 7 (I was 9). I waited in but still no show from anyone and no call. At 8pm the engineer was on job 8/9. By this point the telephone lines were closed so I couldn’t contact anyone so I sent an email.
The next day I contacted customer services - I was promised a call back within the hour as it needed to be referred to the local hub. The tracker was by now showing that the job had been completed. I have been calling every day since then - it is now Friday and I’ve still had no call back. I’ve had to now have the tyres fitted elsewhere as I was driving around on my spare.
Halfords still have my £400 and I’ve now got to spend more time today contacting the call centre - this will be the fourth time - to try to get a refund. No calls back despite promises and no response to my emails and it’s been nearly 5 days. Shocking service.

Alistair was a Superstar

Alistair was a Superstar

He was so friendly and kind with my little boy who is 3 and wanted to watch everything.

He let him feel involved by holding the little covers and looking after them, warned him when there was going to be a big noise and called him over to watch him work from outside the back of the van when he was doing the exciting bits.

He also found that my CV boot was split and advised me on getting it fixed.

Total scam,

Total scam,

They take a payment - wait nearly 24 hours to phone and say they only have more expensive tyres available even though the website still shows the ones we ordered and cheaper ones in stock!

Customer service was blunt, rude and hard to understand. Left a voicemail saying to phone them back, and then kept hanging up on us!!

Avoid!

Let Down Again

For the second time I have been let down with a lame excuse to have my tyres done. I stay in all day waiting and then these jokers tell me some poor excuse. For you Halfords TOTD. Case 26985757. I expect to hear from you regarding this.

Avoid like the Plague- use anyone else

Used to use this company, they were great, now owned by Halfords what a horrendous service. I booked a next day appt to have a tyre fitted, paid £6 booking fee, they took my payment, but didn't provide me any confirmation. I called the help line (open till 10pm), but it was closed (that part of the phone line apparently closes early). Tried the "live chat" but it was down, called next day, I was told that my booking had failed and it would be 7 working days before I get my money back. I asked to rebook the same appt over the phone, but now its a £25 booking fee. Customer services unable to help, eventually a manager said (via customer services helper as they wouldn't come on the phone themselves) that if I pay the extra £25 they "might" be able to reduce it once they have checked that "I'm not lying". I asked to make a complaint, unable to provide me with complaints process "can't you just look it up yourself?". So I'm £140+ down, no tyre and I've spent over an hour on the phone. Avoid like the plaque!

Halfords Tyres on the Drive

Halfords Tyres on the Drive just completed a replacement of 2 front tyres on my car. This was carried out by Cameron who provided an excellent service. Cameron carried out the tyre replacement really well and he was professional throughout. I am really pleased with the service provided.

Left van on the side of the road with flat tyre

Entered number plate and order campervan tyres for flat tyre on campervan.
Turned up and said they could not do it as it was a campervan conversion. Asked if I had the handbook which I did and they said that did not help. Did not phone ahead as they said they would.

No attempt to find out the info that they said they needed themselves left it to me. I phoned the campervan company but they did not answer the phone.

Holiday missed and extra costs incurred.

Stayed in all day nothing when we phoned up was told the fitter was sick..so funny when we live opposite an halfords area manager who told us no body was off sick the trye we wanted wasn't in stock don't bother total waste of space

Whole day waiting

Waited in all day.Got a phone call saying the van has broken dow at 6ish.Fair enough these things happen.Was told I would receive a call from management immediately.No call whatsoever.My MOT is due and I needed these tyres today.

Absolutely horrific service

Absolutely horrific service. Firstly he didnt arrive till gone 7pm, unsure why they ask for a time preference if it just gets ignored. Then he tried to convince me not to rotate my tyres, despite me paying for this service, more work for him I guess.. after swapping and replacing one tyre, turns out he had 2 odd tyres, one 17 and one 18 so he couldn't replace it. He said he'll log it and that's that. No refund and a rubbish service. Tried calling their customer service at 7:45, to be put on mute and then cut off and asked for a "satisfaction" survey. I guess since their lines close at 8 whoever it was couldn't be bothered with more work for the day - all I wanted was to make sure they got someone out tomorrow to replace the other tyre that I've paid for. Absolutely horrific service, after this I wouldn't recommend to anyone. The guy who came couldn't care less, and their phone lines couldn't care less. Frankly if there's no response ill be doing a charge back on my credit card.

Disgusting

I paid for time slot between
12pm till 4pm.i bought that time slot for some reason.
The technician start calling at 11.16am amf start knocking my door at 11.30am.
Seriously.
Why i paid money to buy time slot? I mentioned him that time slot i took for some reason and his reply was ,."" I was in area so i came""....
No apology no regret the disgusting thing was i paod the slot intentionally so they wont harras me in morning .
Really disgusting.no care for buyers
Local tom boys kicled into there service.

If I could give less than 1 star I would

I have used Tyres on the Drive several times, but since Halfords took over their customer service has been terrible. On the day there was no call either to confirm the appointment or from the driver to let me know he was on the way (as it states on the email confirmation). They have online tracking but it doesn't work as the driver had not left the depot on the tracking system when he turned up on my drive. I asked for the tyres to be set to the psi recommended on the car (42 as fully loaded) but when finished I asked the technician and he said he had set the tyres to 35 psi and I when I reminded him he shrugged and shut up the van. There was soap left all over the tyres which I had to clean off. I said to him I needed to go out straight away (to put the correct amount of air in the tyres) and he got in his van as though to drive off. I got in my car, and then he got out of the van, put his coat on the floor and spent the next ten minutes praying. I respect his religious beliefs, but he was blocking the entrance to a driveway that serves 3 houses, and knew I was trying to get out. He did not mention this or ask prior to doing it. The technician in all our interactions was extremely rude to the point where I was extremely uncomfortable at my own house. It's also worth noting when I did check the air in the tyres twenty minutes after he fitted them, one was set at 32psi and one at 38psi.

I tried to complain to Tyres on the Drive. On their website it states to do this through online chat, but the online chat never has any agents available and I tried on multiple occasions. I rang in the first time and was told I would receive an email straight away with a complaints reference I could reply to. When this didn't come, I rang back two hours later and was given an email address for the Birmingham hub manager. I wrote in a complaint immediately which is showing as delivered and read, and I followed it up a week later. I have not received any reply or contact from anyone regarding my complaint. Looking through the complaints and responses on here, it seems everyone gets exactly the same generic response from Olivia saying she apologises for the inconvenience and will pass the comments onto the management team. Clearly this is only to make Halfords look as though they are making an effort, but if this actually happened, why would the same complaints be being made over and over again? Personally I would like my complaint written in to the Birmingham Hub actioned and replied to personally with some offer of compensation for what I was put through, and I believe this is reasonable.

Second time using the Halfords mobile…

Second time using the Halfords mobile tyre fitting service. First time a few months ago, no problem. Same vehicle this time and the fitter seemed to have several excuses not to be able to complete the job including, having after-market wheels, some rust present and only being able to allocate a certain amount of time to the job and him not making it to the next job on time. The vehicle is an import and there is some erosion present the wheels, but nothing that has caused any previous fitter any issues. He looked around it huffing and puffing having a half-hearted attempt at finding the correct wheel nut size and then offered me a refund. I pointed out that a colleague of his had completed a mobile change only a few months again on the same vehicle & then he said, he could 'have a go' at doing it, but I would have to sign a disclaimer to say that it may not be safe to drive on the new tyre. Why would any customer pay a professional to do a job and then sign to say they they are ok with the work being left unsafe? All seemed very bizarre to me and all confidence in the fitters ability to leave my car on a usable state was lost, so I accepted refund (which I had to wait several days for). I inflated the tyre and slowly drove to my local independent garage, who changed the tyre no problems on the same afternoon.

Felt the inability to compete the job was down to fitters experience/skill set/ concern about his finish time for that day or a combination of all 3 rather than anything else. Wouldn't use again.
