I don't normally do reviews but have had a few emails from UGP requesting one. Dealing with UGP has always been good with quick responses instead of being in a queue & feels that I'm with a small local Yorkshire company rather than one of the giants. However, the reason I've only given 3 stars is that I was promised that our smart meters could be read remotely, which was an important factor when changing suppliers, as I am not local to where the meters are sited. After signing up to UGP & requesting smart meter readings, I was then told that this wouldn't be possible, which means at the end of every month I now have to do a 25 miles round trip just to read the meters ! Had I been aware of this, I wouldn't have moved to UGP.

Not helping when you need them
I switched to UGP 16 months for price reasons. The switch was relatively easy but despite numerous reminders they were unable to read the meter remotely. They said this should be easy, they tried and failed. Four months ago they said this was fixed, but in fact somehow on that date they managed to disable the night meter. Then they said our meter was broken and needed replacing. We now have a new meter with no instructions on how to read it and still no night meter reading so being charged all electricity at the higher Day rate.
Now not getting any replies to my emails.
This wasn't a good day for you to send me a request to fill in a Trustpilot review.

I cannot rate Tom Broughton highly enough, he has been so helpful in advising me how to get out of an auto renew contract with a broker that I did not know that I was on and providing me with constant updates on the current market, and finally securing me the best deal.
You might find slightly cheaper out there but from my experience you will pay more in the long run.
Avoid the brokers and go straight to these guys you won't be disappointed.

We are a small charity run by…
We are a small charity run by volunteers looking to switch power company to reduce our bills but primarily to improve our customer experience. UGP delivered. We were allocated a named individual (Herbie Hollis) who guided us through the switching process and made the whole transfer really easy. In fact the only hiccup was with the previous power company and that had come to be expected. Thank you to the charities team at UGP.

Thomas Knapp has been incredibly helpful throughout our entire transition to using UGP for our office utilities. Great communication, and great utility service. Very competitive pricing, and absolutely no qualms with the gas or electric. Just agreed to our 2nd year contract.

Tom M. is our account manger and we are are not easy customers when it comes to renewing - Tom has to requote because we take days to respond. But (and I am smiling as I type this) Tom always remains calm, efficient and super professional whilst quoting us the best prices. (Yes, we do price check his prices by getting alternative quotes!!) We have been with UGP for many many years and this is due to their fair pricing, perfect customer services and Tom.
