I’m an OFW currently working in Saudi Arabia, and I’ve been requesting an account update/reactivation for several months already. I followed all required steps and sent multiple emails, but I still haven’t received a clear resolution.
As an overseas client, I rely heavily on online support since I cannot visit any branch in the Philippines. The long delays have caused inconvenience on my end, and it seems difficult to get proper assistance for simple concerns.
I hope UnionBank can improve their response time and provide a clear process for OFWs who need support while working abroad.

I had the worst customer service experience at the UB Parian-Crossing Branch yesterday. I was very disappointed with the woman at the counter, Ms. Rachel. It felt like she didn’t enjoy her job at all. She was unaccommodating to customers and moved incredibly slowly, seemingly trying to pass time until her shift ended. There were more than 30 people waiting in line, and she took about 30 minutes per customer. In my case, it took her a full hour! The only positive aspect of my visit was the security guards, who were helpful to seniors and newcomers looking to open their accounts. Overall, I believe Ms. Rachel at the Unionbank Parian-Calamba Branch does not deserve to work there and only like to do "PaCute" to the customers.
Crappy Service
Poor service. Their app had an error that caused a double payment to be charged to my credit card from my UB savings account. I reached out to stop the incorrect payment, but they still processed it, and no one from the customer service team is willing to help me.

Very poor customer service. I can't even call their hotline number due to unavailability. I tried reaching out their email and their support system in their app. I didn’t even get a reply as well. I had credit card issues and I need clarification from the amount discrepancy. So disappointed.

I doubt theres a room for improvement for their customer service. hotlines and emails are both unreliable, when you go to their branch they will just ask you to contact their customer support via email or call. very unprofessional agents in my opinion. so may issues since they serve as my payroll bank. never in my life will use union bank after this

terrible customer service. they reply late and they send you canned responses most of the time just to get rid of you and not to actually help you. i tried to open a savings account with them and it took them 3 weeks to reply to my inquiry so i ended up not doing it anymore. i had issues with my credit card and did not receive any help from them so i ended up paying late fees. that card is now cancelled. they tried to convince me not to close the card so i reminded them about the last incident where i asked for their consideration and did not get approved so this is me just returning the favor. thank god i don’t have to deal with this incompetent bank anymore!
Scammed by Union's Depositor
In 2025, my sister was scammed by someone posing as an ASAP agent, losing nearly ₱50,000. The call came shortly after I contacted ASAP’s main office, making it appear legitimate—pointing to a possible inside job. I deposited the money through Union Bank, only to find out it was a scam. When reported, Union Bank said the account had already been emptied and closed. Despite repeated follow-ups, their fraud team offered nothing but, “We understand.” It was hard-earned money, and the bank failed at every level.

I would not recommend this bank. I have a business account with them. I transfered money to my Unionbank account and it never arrived. This was 3 weeks ago. The only thing they've been saying is they'll keep updated. Stay away.
HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE
Unionbank's customer service is horrible. I spoke to an agent named Ed today, who is clearly just motivated by his work stats and salary, who just wants to get rid of the call immediately, but refuses to even help even if I specifically mentioned that it was an emergency. When he mentioned that he cannot help me, I asked to be transferred to the correct department or to his supervisor, but he blatantly refused. This is the kind of customer service this bank has. No compassion or willingness to help. None of their agents are motivated to actually help their customers, all motivated by their own salaries only. Disgusting, and they're not even that big of a bank. They don't take care of their loyal customers and even their tellers and managers in a lot of their branches are just rude and treat their customers like crap.

My mother was wrongly charged a late…
My mother was wrongly charged a late fee by UnionBank despite settling her annual fee on time. The PHP2,500 annual fee was due on 22 May 2025. She had enough reward points and used them to pay the fee, with the waiver confirmed on 20 May 2025—two days before the due date.
In June, her card suddenly stopped working. She was informed she had incurred late charges, which made no sense. We checked her account, and the only purchases were made on 25 and 26 May—clearly after the annual fee deadline and only due in the next billing cycle (30 June).
To make matters worse, Customer Support was unreachable by phone. When we emailed, we received a response that the late fee was “valid” and the case was closed—with no proper review or explanation.
This experience has been extremely frustrating. The system appears flawed, and the lack of meaningful customer support makes it even worse. Highly disappointed.
