Love this app

Love this app, bank and service. Using it for 4 years now, never had any issue. Can make savers on the fly, turn off interest, generate pdfs statements on the go. I just wish they would allow more accounts person (so I went looking for another Neobank like Up and landed here). Thought I'd drop a positive review as they have a 2.4 score.

This bank is horrible they refuse to open disputes because they do simply do not agree with it and constantly block card purchases for any reason and the bank is getting worse and worse customer service and issues completely done with this bank now

Great bank, even better for developers

I’ve been using UP Bank for about a month now and I can confidently say that UP Bank has truly aided in helping me save, as compared to the big 4 banks their app UI is far more intuitive. It is unfortunate that there’s no web app as of yet however the Developer API has helped to allow me to create some simple CPP programs to display important data.

Very uncommon for banks to provide something so useful these days.

Best bank I've ever used

I've used Up for years, and it is easily the best bank I've ever used. I have a substantial amount sitting in savings, and have never had any issues accessing it. The interest rates are high for savings, and the fees are non-existent. The ease of use is fantastic, and the additional features are brilliant. No other bank gives you a better understanding of where your money is going, and gives you the tools to analyse where you can cut back to save better. I don't understand the negative reviews about not being able to get in contact with support either. Every time I've had to contact them (which has been very few and far between), they have replied within the hour.

everything went wrong with up bank, they want to know everything about what you're doing with your money feels very much like Gorge orwells book 1984, yeah, if you can't tell them and say none of your business, they freeze your account, not kidding, isn't that against the law? mmmmm, do not bank with up bank, go Macquarie or something like that, Cheers!

UP allowed fraudulent activity on my account.
I provided them with proof that my card was stolen and have multiple fraudulent transactions yet they didn’t do a thing.
I have made a report to the financial authorities who have assured me they will have it resolved and they also said unfortunately UP is well known for not looking after their customers and they have multiple investigations happening

A Nightmare

A Nightmare! Run from this.
If I could give this experience zero stars I would. I got this card to travel and use in the U.S. as it was supposedly cheaper on extra international bank fees. Used it for a couple of purchases within a week and then got ‘denied’ via an immediate transaction message when I ordered my takeaway meal. Asked them why online and got no answers and they shut down my entire funds in my account when I asked. I was then asked to send a pic of ‘me’ holding my drivers licence clearly, then told it was too dark and was then resent. My account was put back with still no explanation as to ‘why’ they declined my purchase. I ordered food again days later and declined again and received text from them that my account was now ‘closed’. I was left being told they would investigate in approx.”3 wks”. I had to call the Ombudsman’s office in Australia for help as i had no food money and they kept texting me saying they were not doing anything and I had to wait 3 wks or whenever they got to it. Their communication was so bad if you need help you will be gobsmacked at what they do (if my experience is anything to go by).
I would never again put anything other than a small amount on this as they shut down my account funds without any explanation as to why they denied my purchases. Still waiting…

I can't access my money!!

I signed up, put in several thousand dollars (no small amount) as I was making an international purchase. I had to do ID verification - that's where this goes horribly wrong. I have waited 7 days and still don't have access to my money - apparently my profile is STILL sitting with the verification team 7 days on. I can't make a bank transfer back to the account it came from, nor can I spend it online.

Up talk-"up" their in-app messaging platform and that this is their primary method of communication. I would wait days with no response. So I called, with a lovely person on the other end of the phone who, despite their loveliness and apologies, can't help me, referring me back to the in-app messaging and saying they have escalated my request with the ID verification team. 48 hours later I have to call as I still have no reply, even after I sent an in-app message the next day. I am frustrated that I have so much money in the account that I can't access, and it's my money (I think they forget that).

I WILL not recommend UP at all, unless you want to be frustrated, lose your mind at feeling stuck and risk not having access to your money.

Generally I'm happy with Up bank

Its very used friendly and you can open literally 10 different savings accounts. They usually respond quickly in the chat box. Everything is flowers and butterflies until you get scammed.
I got scammed. One of my accounts was hacked into abs my credit card details were copied. 200$ were stolen from my account. I told the bank immediately. Three weeks after that they're still "investing" it. I messaged them after two weeks to hear about any updates and I got no response. So now they're basically avoiding me.

My husband got scammed via Commonwealth. He went to their office and they refunded him right away. I'll be changing banks very soon. Do t want to do business with unresponsive bank, no matter how cool it looks.

Edit: it took them 45 days to look into the dispute. But they did solve it and refunded me fully of what I was scammed.

No I do not want to use your in-app…

No I do not want to use your in-app “talk to us” section. I want to speak to someone on the phone. Since you wasted my time going through all the options to try speak to someone, I have a personal vendetta against Up and will be writing 1 star reviews on all review sites. Provide the ability for your customers to speak to cust. Service operators.

Title: Janky App and Awful Customer Support

Spent 20 minutes trying to get the app to focus on my ID, and when I finally had passable images, it asked me to do it all again. Email support took 17 days to respond, was on hold for 70 minutes trying to reach someone on the phone, and they couldn't even do anything to help. Avoid like the plague.

Incredible bank backed by an really good bank.
I moved from Bendigo Bank to Up Bank after seeing that they were owned by them. Its everything I liked about Bendigo but much better. The app is the best banking app I've tried, and the organisation of savers and transactions help with spending.

Best decision I ever made was opening an account with UP. Been with them for multiple years, support is amazing and the features beat out some of the biggest banks in Australia. Highly recommended.

Previously a great bank.

Previously a great bank.

Up was the first real "neobank" and offered software-centric features that other banks could not compete with.

It's now been several years since their launch and while they have added more useful features to their core banking platform, they still only really offer one product and the competition (with substantially broader offerings) are RAPIDLY catching up in terms of software features.

Now onto the bad part; over the last year the app (Which is the only way to access Up) has become increasingly unstable, and notifications from it have become both unreliable and delayed. On top of that, their customer service has gone from fantastic, to abysmal bordering on straight up rude. This all seems to have happened since they started getting a lot closer to Bendigo Bank.

But this isn't just my experience, I've (unfortunately) referred friends and family to Up over the years and they have all complained to me recently as well about the same experiences.

If you want a feature-rich bank, I would strongly recommend looking at the competition first - Commbank is excellent (and has a real website) but does occasionally try and upsell you stuff, Money is also pretty good and has a fantastic app, and 86400 seems quite good as well although I've never used them personally.
