Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers expressed significant dissatisfaction with the quality of products, citing issues such as components failing prematurely, screens developing lines, and laptops overheating. Reviewers also frequently encountered problems with customer service, describing it as unhelpful, unresponsive, and difficult to reach. The warranty process was a major point of contention, with many finding claims denied for minor reasons or being charged for repairs on new or under-warranty items. Additionally, the pricing of products was often seen as too high given the perceived poor quality and lack of support. Some people were dissatisfied with product specifications not matching advertised features, like HDMI ports lacking expected functionalities. There were also occasional reports of products arriving with missing parts, such as HDD trays.

Honestly

Honestly, this was the worst customer service experience I’ve ever had. My MSI laptop was working perfectly except for a display issue, so I sent it to MSI customer service for repair. The engineer told me the repair would cost around 600 SAR, and I agreed.

Two weeks later, the same engineer contacted me saying they needed to replace the motherboard to fix the display, and the new cost would be 2,900 SAR. I refused and decided to buy a new laptop instead. When I went to collect my old one, I found that it no longer worked at all — they had completely ruined it.

I asked the engineer to investigate and return my laptop in its original condition. He took it back again for three months. At first, they ignored my WhatsApp messages, and only responded after I visited their office in person. The engineer then told me they would replace the motherboard and the laptop would work along with display, but I had to pay for the new motherboard. I refused again, telling him it was their fault they damaged my laptop.

Shockingly, the engineer started treating me disrespectfully and even threatened that if I didn’t pay, he would damage the internal connection so the screen would never work again — and he actually did it. I contacted MSI’s headquarters, but they said they couldn’t do anything and wouldn’t take action against the disrespectful engineer.

So please, be very cautious dealing with MSI customer service. They’re worse than any other laptop brand I’ve dealt with. And by the way, most of the people I met at their service center were also complaining about the same things: disrespect, poor communication, and long delays to get their devices back.

MSI said they were sending my package…

MSI said they were sending my package through FedEx and it was a $200 motherboard. Instead, it was delivered through Budget. I caught the guy throwing packages out of the truck so I don’t know if my motherboard is damaged or not. I’m not finished buying the parts for the computer so I won’t know until I actually begin building my computer. The delivery driver stated he did not deliver for FedEx even though his name was Jeremy and the very next day I had a FedEx package from another Jeremy …it was the same guy still throwing packages out of the back of the truck! Not to mention my $200 motherboard was left in the middle of my neighbor’s front yard. I was notified of delivery without photo proof. I don’t know how reliable/secure MSI shipping practices are because my package looked tampered with ( busted in corners and appeared to have been opened without my consent). MSI is not allowing me to create an account to review my purchase so I am unable to report the damage and negligent delivery.

721 dollars down the drain because I bought your computer from Walmart and it has been one thing after another not working, overheating, it must have been pressed or something it does not work properly then you call and they say you must go on site then you get nowhere. Walmart says they wont replace item until MSI warranty runs out. so now I've had a non working laptop since november. I'm a single mom with a very limited income and this was the worst purchase I ever bought. I will never buy anything MSI again. HORRIBLE RIP OFF SCAM

To never buy

Probably .. THE WORST laptop brand in history!!!! I bought mine which had an issue I contacted the customer service and while it was under warranty they made me pay £59 to send it to them be checked. As they are dishonest they returned it 💯 without having touched it and said it worked.
While the small shop down my street said it has an issue and kindly suggested that I should use my warranty with @msi because SOME PEOPLE ARE HONEST ! Not the case of this scam company. Now the laptop is sitting in my garage because I was too kind to sue them 🤔might not be too late

I’m extremely disappointed with MSI's…

I’m extremely disappointed with MSI's warranty service. I submitted my [MSI motherboard model, e.g., MSI B550 Gaming Plus] for warranty repair, well within the warranty period, due to [brief issue – e.g., system not booting].

To my surprise, MSI rejected the claim, stating "physical damage" because of some tiny marks near solder joints and a via—which are clearly not caused by mishandling. I have never tampered with the board or caused any damage. It was installed and used in a properly maintained system with care.

The service center offered no repair options, no detailed diagnostics—just a rejection. This is unacceptable from a brand that claims to care about quality and gamers.

I’ve trusted MSI in the past, but this experience has left me with serious doubts. If a product under warranty can be denied service over such minor, possibly factory-origin marks, what’s the point of a warranty at all?

Buyers beware: MSI’s after-sales support may not back you up when you need it most.

i bought a desktop

i bought a desktop, waited a week for it to arrive from LA to NYC. When it arrived, i called a technician to hook everything up and set it up, and when unpacking the computer, we found that the 4070 ti graphics card was very bent and clearly broken, plugged into the motherboard, and we didn't even turn on the desktop, afraid that the whole thing would just catch fire, we took a picture of this defective desktop and i sent a letter to MSI with a claim and a picture of the broken graphics card, it was extremely difficult to find the claims department of this company, as there is no contact information on the company's website (and? nothing! A child's birthday was ruined, as the desktop was a gift, time was lost and the mood was ruined. Horrible experience...

Wasn't plesent, But worked

I purchased a MSI mag 271qpx. It had been almost a year before I realized that I could not update the firmware. It was one of the first released on this model. When attempting to update it fails. Tells me return it to a msi service center. I had no problem reaching a support agent. And he quickly confirmed it needed returned for all the features to work. I thought I was receiving a RMA, but what I received was a shipping label. I was to pay for the return shipping over $100. This I could not understand. The problem had nothing to do with me or time, and under warranty. This would have resulted in me having more invested in the MAG then the cost of a MPG. I purchased a expensive monitor with nice features, but ny monitor did not have these features. Did not get what was advertised. After long debate the representative told me he would work on it. I didn't like that answer but when arguing on he asked me if he hadn't just told me he would work on it.
Ended there.
Few hours later I received a one time RMA.
Positive
1 star for answering the phone.
1 star for the representative actually listening.
1 star for accepting responsibility.
Negative
2 stars for bad buisness practices.
Should not have to stick my foot in door as they slam it.

Grueling Customer Service Experience

Purchased a brand new laptop from 2024 and have only owned it for 2 and half months. I have had to RMA it 3 times. Only now on the 3rd RMA are they taking steps to address and fix the issue.

My customer service experience with MSI has been a grueling one. The Service History event on my account said they were "waiting for customer reply" in order to proceed with repairs, but I hadn't received any email/phone call to even reply to. It took me 3 days in a row of talking to customer service representatives (and them telling me each time that RMA will get in touch with me soon) until one rep told me that my problem is very unique and they're waiting for the manufacturer in Taiwan to reply to the RMA center in California. It took them 3 days to tell me that they didn't need to get in touch with me.

They said that they didn't have a time frame on when my problem will be solved and sent back to me. I asked the rep if they could replace my laptop since this is a unique problem and may take even more time to resolve. Me, going back to college, I also need that laptop for classes. But they denied a replacement.

This brand new laptop has been out of my hands for repairs for longer than I have even owned it. I used to love MSI. As a tech enthusiast and one who is studying IT Security, I have always respected MSI and have only had good things to say about them. But this experience has made me rethink my respect for them. After this frustrating, tedious experience, I don't think I'll be purchasing MSI products again in the future.

Horrible Return Process

Tried to return an *unopened* item and was advised to wait for an MRA (merchandise return authorization) for over a month now and haven't gotten it. Tried to call customer service and they said they only deal with product support, not returning merchandise and was told there was nothing I could do but to wait. I'm still waiting. What a HORIBLE company!!! Will never buy from them again.

planned obsolescence; avoid! poor laptop support quality

These laptops are utterly disappointing, and the support is even worse!

After 4 five years, my laptop started to fail. When I reached out for help, they informed me it was "out of warranty," leaving me without any basic assistance.

To make matters worse, they claimed the model was discontinued and refused to provide schematics for self-repair.

It feels like everything, including the products and the people behind them, is designed to break down after a certain period to boost profits.

I will definitely not be purchasing from MSI again!

Do not buy an MSI Desktop!!!

Do not buy an MSI Desktop for any reasons. It will be a nightmare and the odds it fails out of the box are quite high. I purchased a Desktop on 9/25/24 to give to my son on Christmas. Graphics card is dead out of the box, tried reseating it to avail. Because it had been 90 days since I purchased it I cannot return it to Costco. So now I have to pay shipping to send it to MSI to have warranty work done on something that’s never been used. I cannot stress to you enough how much you should not purchase a computer from MSI. I’m being punished for purchasing something ahead of time for Christmas and my 10 year old son will be without his PC until mid-February. Needles to say his Christmas is ruined and he verbatim said that. I’m not the type to leave reviews but I felt the need in this instance.

I tried to keep it short but...

So far I'm kinda in limbo with my second RMA attempt (a week into the second with the first happening on the 28th of November and being resolved on the 14th and the card having a second failure immediately after and being sent to RMA on the 16th (blue smoke) so we're here again and its kind of a "Man with the one-eye in the kingdom of the blind is king" deal because only they really know whats up but I don't exactly know if they have the best idea of what is going on. I call ever other day to ensure that what will happen will but, at least from what I am able to understand, the 4090 cards are either phased out of production or will be phased out soon enough and we just wanted to know what will happen in that event? I left the response pretty neutral because they have taken responsibility in caring for our product but here's the cliff's notes:

1st RMA: Sent out 4090 Gaming Trio on the 28th of November for the price of 120 USD in very secure packaging. It arrived on Dec 2nd (I live in Arizona and it was EOD so technically the 29th it was sent out) in California via FEDEX. The turnaround time was pretty amazing given the circumstances and me and my wife along with our daughter were happy as claims to have our card back. This was short lived.

2nd RMA (Currently): Our card died once again but it did so in a spectacular fashion which also made my daughter afraid of corded computers (it...had nothing to do with it but she's afraid of cables now because "They look scary" when that's her thinking they look complicated) and we sent it in on the 17th (EOD 16th) of December (Which MSI paid shipping) and it recently arrived on the 20th. Apparently they are to receive the card to see if any funny business had happened (if it was funny, I would have laughed but I understand as does the family. We really just turned it on one day. It didn't post, we did it again and, well, the rest is all she wrote) and we've been calling every other day to see how it was supposed to go. I was told by a supervisor and an employee that I was to get a new card and I have a message that supports that as well (sent from a CSR for record keeping purposes only) but in order for us to receive the new card, they have to verify it for tampering first (which they might still be in the process of.)

Our concerns: I don't get repairs right the first time, hell, I'm not conscientious enough to get them right until the second time so I'm pretty reasonable on that. At this point, we're just wondering what will happen and if we can get something for our time. We haven't been able to use the computer so the girls use the laptop and, well, it just isn't the same for them. It doesn't quite scratch the itch for me either. Still: we're a bit shaken because this is a relatively expensive piece of equipment and we really don't want this to be an issue. Hell, the next time we turn it on we're calling customer service before so that they can be there with us to see if the thing shits the bed again. We just want to make sure the process is going well and a little compensation for the patience. We're not asking for a completely new graphics card or a new computer or a new leg. Just something that tells us that you're listening. I don't want silence to be the loudest thing in the room but I am just asking for a family of gamers (which it wasn't always like that but the girls do love their Genshin) if we can get something. I've been writing things on the low end. On your doorstep on Reddit and soon to be on your Facebook page. I just want someone to see this. Thank you.
