Suckered by promo rate
I opened an account to get a promotional 1.99% auto loan. I got an email from Utah First a couple of months later saying they needed the title. I figured it hadn't arrived yet. Later I received a letter saying if I didn't provide the title my loan would be changed to 18.99% interest, along with other penalties. As I never had the title, I contacted Utah First and was told I had to contact the manufacturer's finance company and request the title be sent to Utah First.
I contacted the manufacturer to be told that they required an odometer disclosure before they could release the title to Utah First. Apparently the odometer disclosure from closing was not sent to the manufacturer financing company.
I completed a new disclosure with the manufacturer online, but apparently that didn't work, and I found Utah First still hadn't received the title, when they jacked my rate up to 18.99%.
I contacted the manufacturer, and completed a hard copy of the disclosure which I faxed to them. I sent the fax confirmation to Utah First, and they restored my interest rate, but when I asked why the original odometer disclosure from the loan closing wasn't sent to the manufacturer, they said they didn't have one. I know they did, because during closing we had to get up, go out to the car and record the mileage, then go back in and finish signing.
After months of hassle, not being believed about the paperwork we did at closing and basicaly being treated like a delinquent, I refinanced the loan with my primary credit union. The final insult coming today when I closed my Utah First account: A $10 fee for closing the account within the first year...
