We’ve now worked with The Headhunter…

We’ve now worked with The Headhunter Talo on three roles. Two of them have been a great fit and are still in the right place.

One candidate didn’t make it through the trial period, but honestly, that can happen and no one can fully control that. What mattered to us was how they handled it. They credited the amount we had spent on that hire, and we’re now using that credit toward a new role.

They’re currently helping us with a fourth position, and we have full trust in them. Fair, professional, and solution-focused.

I’ve been placed with clients through Talo, and the experience has been excellent. We’ve consistently delivered strong outcomes, helping them secure hires and maintain a steady flow of high-quality candidates.

For over a year, Talo has supported both me and the business I was placed in. During that time, I was also recognized as a top performer for the year, which I’m really grateful for.

A massive thank you to Talo for the opportunity and support throughout. The e-commerce business we worked with was booming during that period, and the team was performing exceptionally well. It’s been a great environment to grow and contribute in.

Poor candidate quality and a lot of wasted internal time in screening…

I was directly involved in screening and interviewing the CSM candidates sent to us by Talo’s 9 Figure Flow.

For the CSM role specifically, we received 17 candidates across multiple batches. None became a successful long-term CSM hire. Most failed screening or interviews, one failed the trial within 5 days, one ghosted before the live interview, and one withdrew before the interview.

The main issue was not that hiring takes time, we understand recruiting requires feedback and iteration. The issue was that the candidate quality was consistently far below what we needed, even after we provided detailed job descriptions, role context, scorecards, ideal candidate profiles, and direct feedback after interviews.

This also created a heavy time cost for us internally. I personally spent around 25 hours on screening, live interviews, emails, feedback calls, setup, test tasks, and trial-related work.

From my perspective, the candidates were not properly matched to the role. Many were not close to the level of communication, ownership, or client-facing ability needed for a high-ownership CSM position.

We were willing to pay for the time already used, but after 2 months and multiple unsuitable batches, continuing the rest of a 12-month agreement made no sense for us.

Based on my direct experience managing the candidate pipeline, I would not recommend them for companies that need carefully screened, high-quality candidates for serious client-facing roles.

To provide some context, this engagement was designed as a longer-term recruitment partnership, where candidate quality is refined through multiple feedback loops and iterations over time. The process you’ve described — screening, interviews, trials, and feedback — is exactly how that calibration typically happens before consistently strong hires are achieved.

Across the engagement, we delivered multiple candidate batches and incorporated detailed feedback after each round. As with many high-ownership, client-facing roles like CSMs, alignment on communication level, ownership, and profile fit often requires several iterations to reach the right benchmark.

We also maintained active communication throughout with an average response time between 30 mins - 2 hours and hosted 7 alignment calls to adjust the search based on the criteria and feedback provided.

We understand the time investment required on the client side, and that’s precisely why these engagements are structured over a longer period — to ensure that early-stage calibration leads to stronger, more consistent outcomes over time.

It’s unfortunate we weren’t able to continue the process to that point, and we respect your decision not to proceed further.

Big promises on the sales call, poor delivery in practice

We signed up with Talo's 9 Figure Flow after an initial call where the founder set very specific expectations: successful hires within a two-week window, ability to fill any role, multiple candidates per position, "unlimited" sourcing, and active strategies like running ads and headhunting talent from other companies.

Based on those commitments, we paid almost $30,000 for a one-year agreement.

Our goal was straightforward. We wanted to benchmark their service against the in-house hiring process we'd built ourselves, which costs a fraction of this. After giving the engagement a real shot, the comparison wasn't close, and not in their favor.

What we experienced versus what was promised:
▸ The two-week timeline did not hold up for the roles we needed.
▸ Candidate quality was consistently below what we sourced ourselves through standard job platforms.
▸ The "unlimited candidates" framing did not translate into a usable pipeline of qualified people.
▸ We saw little evidence of the proactive sourcing (ads, headhunting) that was pitched to us.

On screening, we put a few of their candidates on trial despite our reservations, just to be fair. The results were rough. In one case, a candidate was caught watching adult content while clocked in on our time-tracking tool, the kind of thing a strong vetting process should catch before a candidate ever reaches a client.

Communication on their end was also weaker than we'd expect for this price point, with slow responsiveness and limited proactive updates throughout the engagement.

Bottom line, we got noticeably better hires through our own direct efforts on basic job boards than through this agency.

For the money we spent, a dedicated in-house recruiting assistant would have delivered substantially more value.

We would not renew, and we would not recommend the service based on our experience.

Doesn't deliver, declines refund, gaslights you

Terrible experience. They charged us $29k for a year of recruiting. No suitable candidates, no refunds, unprofessional and immoral.

Two months of working with them and we got the following results:

25 candidates, all of them unqualified. They didn't speak proper English, didn't understand what the roles they applied for were about, didn't understand our offer. Mind you, these were the candidates that had been "pre-screened" by Talo's 9 Figure Flow already.

We jumped on multiple feedback calls with Talo's 9 Figure Flow, really taking our time to point out the short comings, clarified every point of contention, but nothing changed in the next batch of candidates.

We've been working in parallel with other agencies at the same time. All of them delivered multiple suitable candidates without any issues, which further proved to us that something must be fundamentally flawed in the way Talo's 9 Figure Flow is operating.

We have been working with multiple agencies over the past 5 years and never had an experience this unprofessional. We provided Talo's 9 Figure Flow with detailed job descriptions, context on our audience, our company, our offers, scorecards, ideal candidate profiles etc. Judging by the quality of clients that came from them they must have either ignored those or simply didn't care to look.

After 2 months of wasting our time with terrible candidates we decided to cut our collaboration short amicably. Since we had paid $29k for an entire year we offered that they keep funds worth of 2 months of their work (even though they didn't deliver a single suitable candidate) and they refund us for the rest of the year, which they have declined.

After multiple days of back and forth with the owner, Jack Robson he continuously declined our right to a refund and reverted to gaslighting us. He admitted himself in writing that the candidates they delivered were subpar and unusable. The "solution" he then offered was simply that a refund was out of the question and we should continue to work with them (even though he admitted he wouldn't know how to get the quality of candidates up to an acceptable standard).

Stay away from this company.

To provide some context, this was a 12-month recruitment engagement that was ended by the client after approximately 38 days. As with most recruitment processes, particularly for specialist roles, outcomes are typically achieved through iteration, feedback, and refinement over time rather than within an initial batch.

During the engagement, we delivered multiple candidate rounds and held several feedback calls to align on requirements and improve targeting. This is a standard part of the process, and we remained committed to refining the search based on the client’s input.

Regarding the refund request — as outlined in the agreement, refunds do not apply once candidates have been progressed, and the appropriate remedy in cases of dissatisfaction is replacement hiring support. That said, we still offered a goodwill adjustment to reach a fair resolution, which was declined.

We always aim to work collaboratively with our clients and reach positive outcomes, and it’s unfortunate we weren’t able to do so in this case.


***Update

To provide additional clarity on this situation:

This was a 12-month recruitment engagement that was ended after approximately 5–6 weeks of work.

During that time:

We delivered 25+ candidates across multiple batches
Held 7 alignment calls with the client’s team
Iterated on feedback after each round to improve candidate fit


The agreement signed clearly states that:

No guarantees are made on timelines or outcomes
Fees are non-refundable regardless of utilisation or early termination

So there was no 'right to a refund'. But despite this, we still offered a goodwill adjustment in an effort to resolve the situation, which was declined.

We understand the client was unhappy with early-stage results, but we do not believe this review reflects the full context of the engagement or the work delivered.

I've been through multiple recruiting processes but nothing compares to how seamless the process at Talo was. Gladys and Cindy are great people and possess such good communication and coordination skills. They value your time as a candidate, give you valuable advice and keep you posted every step of the way. A very efficient and transparent hiring experience!

I had a really great experience with Talo throughout my hiring process.
