Great Product

The Vacuvita base unit works well and looks nice in the counter. It integrates well with the storage containers and bags. My food is definitely staying fresher longer!

Clean lines that elevate the mundane.

From a design standpoint the Home Base unit and containers are clean, glossy, and will find a home in most contemporary kitchens out there. The limited space of the interior (compounded by the narrowing at its center) make fitting and compartmentalizing stored food a bit challenging. Often it seems I found myself taking everything out in order to find just what I was looking for as "stacking" food prevents easy visual navigation of the contents. The mechanical design of the unit is exceptional! Seams are tight. The seal is easily removed and replaced for cleaning. The actuating door mechanism and soft-opening lid is found only in luxury products like this. The tonal and LED visuals are fantastic feedback mechanisms for the user. From an engineering standpoint there are a couple shortcomings worth mentioning. The vacuum adapter cup doors not make am effective seal with the VacuVita bags. Even pressing firmly several attempts left much air in the bags 50% of the time. The adapter cup seal on the containers worked very well most every time. Recognizing the implicit problem with vacuum sealing bags containing liquids (marinades, pasta with sauce...) I found it to be cumbersome at best, and frustrating, messy, and ineffective at worst. That said, the containers functioned well by all measures and were now the solution for storing foods in liquid form. I am concerned though with the following discrepancy. The instructions, manual and printed card all say that the containers can be used in the microwave by just releasing the vacuum, and opening the lid. The underside of every lid though says that they ARE NOT MICROWAVE SAFE! Please clear that up for me.

The brief amount of time I have had to use the system functionally lends me only a little experience with how successful it is with a breadth of food items. With what I did use,I found it kept most items firmer, and fresher than the alternative. I'm sure the science regarding slowing bacteria growth is undeniable as well.

Overall, I am very happy with the product both functionally, and aesthetically. I hope and encourage you to further develop the Home Base Unit, as well as expanding the line of accessories.

Storage

Received the vacuum seal canister set. First impression is that it seems well made, sturdy material. Boxes are marked BPS and BPC free. The set giving a variety of storage container sizes. Items like nuts, beans and grains will have a longer shelf life vac sealed, mostly what I have to store. Even better is that there is a vac seal bag available which would work great for feeezer storage.

Excellent experience

Vacuvita delivered an exciting and innovative product with little hassle. There were periods of radio silence (no communication) as the product developed but the pulled through in the end

vacuvita

It is a bit big for our small kitchen. We are also having issues with the tube that came with the product (there was a little crack), which posed an issue when vacuuming the bags. They were responsive though and said that we will be receiving a new tube soon.

Great product and service

This is a great product. We have been using it for 2 weeks now and have been very happy. It takes a little practice sealing the containers, but once you figure it out it is easier. I would recommend to anyone.

storage

The unit's instruction guide showed a removable inner liner to the large storage box, but the unit did not have a removable liner. I am using the unit anyway, and it appears to seal adequately. The unit takes up quite a bit of counter space, so I have not decided whether I will use it for everyday items, or place it elsewhere for longer term storage.

It took several tries to figure out how to use the storage bags. My first attempt did not create a vacuum, and a 2nd attempt created a vacuum that dissapated 2 days later. I figured out that the ziplock has to be pressed firmly, and several times all along the edge to completely seal the zip lock.
I used a square tub for storage, and when I needed an item I could not get the top off! I re-read the instructions but there were no instructions about opening the tub, I finally figured out that I had to pop the gray oblong seal at the top of the tub to release the vacuum. I wish that had been in the instructions!

The unit is too new yet to evaluate its long-term effect. It will be interesting to see how much longer my rice and nuts stay fresh in the vacuum bags.

I have not tried the unit for fresh vegetables. That is such a radical change in storage that I am afraid to try it.

Vacuvita worth the wait.

It took a long time to make it from crowdfunding to marketplace but the Vacuvita was worth the wait. An elegant looking product that is simple to use and does what it is supposed to do. The product has been well thought out and should be a welcome addition to our kitchen for years to come.

Fresh Food - Lasting Longer

I am loving my base unit. Having tortillas and bread last for over a week outside of the refrigerator - staying soft and fresh - is wonderful. My fresh blackberries are as fresh as the day I bought them - a week later. This making my food more flavorful longer and more affordable. I'm excited about buying more fresh foods and using all of the containers and bags.

Excellent Quality!

I was a bit surprised by how large the base was, but it actually fit into my kitchen quite well. It holds a surprising amount of bread and rolls, which stay fresh for over a week. It's very well made and very easy to use

Long time

Took a very long time for the product to ship. I had forgotten about it actually. I now live in Hong Kong and the product had to be shipped to my in-laws in the States. So, after waiting for two years still don't actually have the product I paid for.

Stale bread a thing of the past

Vacuvita home base replaces the old 'bread box'. Place crackers, bread, chips, cookies inside and close the lid. The shelf-life on these products is extended by days and weeks in some cases. The vacuum pack feature is easy to use and quick as a flash. No more freezer burn. I love the simplicity of vacuvita. Looks good and works great. I waited a long time to get this product while the good people at vacuvita ran all the tests to finally get to market. It was worth the wait. Highly recommend.

Vacuvita rocks!

Great system---so far, so good! Feature I like the most, is that the containers can be reused...making Vacuvita even more economical than other food storage systems I researched.

A great solution to preserving food and freshness

It is a convenient/easy experience to use the system. It's so great to be able to preserve fresh food for so much longer! It's excellent and i would recommend to anyone.

There is a slight learning curve to use, but after learning it's common sense, really. herbs such as cliantro and parsely shouldn't be too wet, only slightly, in a covero, and they stay fresh for a long while.

The only slight issue seems to be with the bags. They generally work great. Sometimes a bag won't keep the vacuum, however. Not sure why. It's only sometimes, and then it seems to be that the bag just won't keep the vacuum (after repeated tests). On one, i tried a piece of scotch tape over the hole in the bag (where you put the vacuum connector) and it worked (kept the vacuum for a couple of weeks). I was able to re-use this bag, and it kept the vacuum again (with the same piece of tape on it), so the issue may be the hole.
Also notice, that sometimes when using the bag in the freezer, after frozen, the bag will have a little air in it. I presume this is just freezer side effect, after re-vacuum sealing, most of the time the bag seems to keep the vacuum (unless it's one of those described above).

The occasionally bag issue is so minor, though, compared to how much i've been using the unit, and enjoying fresher food!

Thank you Vacu vita!
