I just need to shout out BJ McCarty at Venomous Tuning one more time for absolutely amazing customer service.

I got my car several years ago already modded, the previous owner pretty much did all the mods, 2.3L VMP, exhaust, injectors, mono blade (more on that in a minute) intake, and other supporting stuff, all basic this day in age, but big deals at the time. I ran it as it was and enjoyed it with some minor hiccups. One being the throttle liked to stick open past 5500 rpms if I missed a shift or just let out and it wasn't in gear. So after that scare, I decided it was time to get it retuned and also paired it with installing L&M cams, because I wanted some more character other than at WOT, who doesn't love cams right?

I reached out to BJ and told him my plans, he suggested maybe just avoiding cams because they really don't help until the bottom end is built and let's you rev past 6500rpm efficiently, but I'm stubborn and went with them anyway. From there he gave me a parts list, new timing set and a few other things to do while there, and I did them. (A year later, he was right about it from a performance perspective, but they make me grin ear to ear everytime I drive it, so for me that's worth it)

About a month or 2 later I installed everything and scheduled a live tuning session with him to get the installed data logs done. I missed my window and contacted him late, and he still setup shop after hours to help me out and spent about 2 hours dialing in the low rpm fueling and drivability. He saved me from blowing up on a bad wideband that was reading 10.0 rich, and instead of just pulling fuel, had me troubleshoot it and swap to a new one, and fueling was bang on at 11.1, had he pulled fuel like the gauge said I'd have been dangerously lean. A few revisions later, WOT tuning was done.

Over the past year I counted up how many emails I've sent and he's responded to and I was blown away that it looked more like a chat session with a whopping 47 emails back and forth with various questions and several logs checking things over and making sure it was healthy, especially doing the quarter mile) Now imagine that plus all his other customers, very impressive that he is able to reply to everyone and monitor social media and everything else.

I did some drag racing this season, found my by-pass was messed up, but other than that it's been great, and from a tune perspective my throttle no longer hung open and had great drivability which for me were huge wins.

Most recently, and the reason for this particular shout out, I had been noticing that if I did anything that made the car forget its learned parameters (battery disconnect, load a different tune, ect) and the car was cold, it would idle like it had a massive vacuum leak, I thought I had fixed it with the by-pass and unfortunately it was still an issue. After confirming with a smoke tester and vacuum pump it wasn't a leak, I contacted BJ and he spent 2 hours going back and forth with me on the phone while data logging and found the issue and got me running right. Very impressed with the attention to detail and being willing to come back to something after a year. It turned out to be something with the idle air being just a tad off, not enough to rear its head unless the specific circumstance happened as mentioned above. I can only imagine the amount of hours he has into my tune at this point and it's by far the best money I've ever spent on anything. I can say with confidence I'm getting the better end of the deal on this one. The car performs awesome, sounds amazing and is a pleasure to drive. With cams AND the monoblade, it feels smooth on acceleration, that's not an easy thing to achieve, and of course it is a little monster at WOT.
