Overpromised and Underdelivered

I engaged Vertfirm for legal services and the process has now dragged on for about 6 months with the work still unfinished.

Before I signed up, Akiko was very responsive and quick to answer my questions. However, after I paid for the service, communication dropped off significantly and it became very difficult to get updates or see meaningful progress.

Based on my experience, the service did not match the expectations that were set beforehand. I strongly recommend avoiding this company.

Unprofessional and my case was delayed

I am submitting this complaint due to unprofessional conduct and a pattern of delayed and inconsistent communication after I retained this attorney. Despite multiple follow-ups, responses were often late or incomplete, and I was not informed in advance of periods of unavailability. Promised follow-ups were repeatedly missed.

As a direct result of these delays and lack of responsiveness, I was unable to take timely legal action and am now being forced to file certain claims later than intended. This has materially impacted my legal position and caused unnecessary risk and stress.

Vert Firm is a rebrand of Cape Justice, a Known Scam

This company is actually a rebrand of Cape Law PC. I'm sure it was created solely to distance itself from 100s of reviews and Better Business Bureau complaints that they are scamming people. You can see that CapeJustice.com is still up but has changed to Vert Firm as well (with the same language and logo).

I encourage other folks that have been scammed to also chime in and warn people that Vert Firm is a feeble attempt at continuing their scam operation under a new name.

Please review the Cape Justice PC BBB complaints, Trust Pilot Reviews, and Yelp Reviews and my original review (below) before you get scammed!

Original Review:

This company is a scam set up to string out monthly fees and never deliver services. They were hired to help with a dispute with a contractor, that, coincidentally, also took money and never delivered a glass shower door installation.

When requesting any info from Cape Law, expect to send 8-10 emails spanning over weeks before getting a response. I have huge email chains as evidence of the ghosting from this company. I find out that the case was filed and re-filed multiple times because of lack of response.

No response at all on justification of the discrepancies. No answers to emails at all. This has been going on for months and months. I wish I went to ChatGPT and Google AI much sooner. They summarized the large amount of complaints against this company for the exact same thing. It's basically just a scam for dragging out monthly fees.

I made sure to handle as much as I could through email, so that I have a record. I have amassed over 42 emails of evidence in this scam.

As you can see in the Trust Pilot reviews (and plethora of BBB complaints), Cape Law will try to flip this on the customer and blame them instead. I'm sure that they will attempt to do that here as well!

They have already tried this multiple times in my BBB complaint with them, stating things like: "As a pro se litigant, notices from the court, including trial dates, are sent directly to you. We understand how this process may have been confusing and how it might have led to you missing the initial trial. To assist, we went ahead and refiled your case to help you move forward."

However, that's easy to dispute with their own communications:

Rep Taco: "Thank you for reaching out. We wanted to inform you that we should have a hearing date for you within the next week or so. Please note that we are *actively monitoring updates* from the court and will notify you as soon as the date is confirmed."

Failing to deliver service is one thing, but blaming these failures on the customer is just despicable behavior.

Lack of responses and actions as promised is the norm for this company to drag on the case and keep charging the monthly fees.
