Company did not accept full car insurance from external company. I had to pay their own insurance 150 euro. They charged me for full tank because I returned the car with only half tank.

Last week rented a car at Catania airport. Good service, rather punctual with checkout timing. Gived different car. If the Indian brand "Mehindra" could be called a car nowadays. Told to make videoclip and then send it to the office. No one comes with us to check the car. But on check-in... wow, the car was checked from every possible angle, up and down, left to right. Just missed a microscope! Looked like determined to find something. However, everything went ok. But the customer felt like a criminal. Viaggiare is now going to the bottom of my list for the next time in Italy.

I hired a car via CarJet at Catania Airport on 30th December 2025. The office is very difficult to find. They were not clear about the hiring terms. Drop off poor. Very unfriendly receptionist looking very closely to find damage. Eventually found a very light mark on a wing mirror. Would easily rub out with t- cut. She said it was a scratch. I had to insist on putting my observations on the return form, despite her objections. Charged 40 euros, which we will claim back on our insurance policy. My advice- and I frequently hire cars - avoid this company.
Additionally, despite them saying I would get copies of the contract and return form via email, I never received these. I have sent two emails asking for them, which have been ignored.

Viaggiare gives car hire companies a bad name.

I booked a hire car through Auto Europe for collection from Viaggiare at Catania Airport, Sicily back in August 2025. Despite having already purchased full insurance through the broker, Viaggiare refused to release the vehicle unless we paid for additional coverage. Although my husband objected, the representative was insistent. Only one of us was allowed into the collection point, preventing us from discussing the situation properly, and the language barrier was clearly exploited.
We were coerced into paying €128.52 for additional insurance we didn’t need. I contacted Auto Europe immediately, and they confirmed our policy was fully sufficient. I was assured they would follow up with Viaggiare but could only do so after the rental ended. I followed up with an email, copying Viaggiare.
After returning to the UK, Auto Europe informed me they would not intervene in the complaint and that I should deal directly with Viaggiare. I’ve since exchanged multiple emails with Viaggiare, clearly demonstrating that we complied fully with their terms and conditions. Yet their responses have been minimal and each one inconsistent, and after two months, they still have not done the right thing.
The lack of accountability and customer care from both companies has left a lasting negative impression and I won't touch either company again. I am left with no option but to leave this review and pursue a formal claim via the European Consumer Centre.

Tips for other travellers:
- Check your policy thoroughly and do not agree to pay anything additional until you’ve spoken with your broker (if you have one).
- Keep all rental agreements easily accessible on collecting the vehicle.
- Inspect the car carefully before driving away. Ours was filthy, and several areas of damage were missing from the pick-up ticket, making it difficult to spot defects.

The staff at pick up and drop off were friendly and helpful. More importantly, though, I had a couple questions regarding the car after having it for a few days and they were kind and patient with their explanations. I appreciate them and recommend this company without hesitation.

I've rented a 9-seater van, in great condition, with a helpful staff, with a good price. But the car was not ready at the booked time, and I had to wait over an hour to get it.

It was a good experience renting the car. I was met at the airport and then transported to their office. The car was in a really good shape. Returning the car was super easy as well. Will definitely use their services again when in Sicily.

Soooooooo slow before you finally get the car you rented. Waiting line was not that long but it takes way too long inside!

Guaranteed scam. They don't give you the right car, rip you off with “comfort packages,” refuse all communication and explanations. We had to pay a fortune for a dent that wasn't there when we returned the car.

Avoid Viaggiare Rent
I booked a vehicle through the Flexi website (Booking Reference: CF0A6859) expecting a smooth process and the category I paid for. Instead, I faced a long wait at Palermo Airport, only to be handed a car from a completely different class—without explanation or compensation.
The agent failed to document pre-existing damages that I had responsibly photographed and shared via WhatsApp immediately. Despite my efforts, no one responded to confirm receipt or provide the correct WhatsApp contact, leaving my documentation unacknowledged.
Most concerning was the return process. At the agreed time and location, no agent was present to inspect or receive the vehicle. This absence of proper contractual protocol is now being exploited to fabricate damage claims that did not exist when I handed over the car. I have timestamped photo evidence to support this.
This experience reflects a troubling lack of professionalism and accountability from both Viaggiare Rent and the Flexi booking platform. I urge others to exercise extreme caution when booking through Flexi or dealing with their partner agencies. Transparency and integrity should be non-negotiable—unfortunately, neither were present here.

Very bad experience!
Incomprehensible communication and an extra charge/insurance, which we allready had, just to collect the car.
After returning it, we were charged 600 euros, which they later admitted was a mistake

I was skeptical of renting from a company I never used. But to be honest the experience was a good one, hassle free, car was good (just 16k on the clock) and the staff were all friendly.

I would use them again.

Our experience at Catania Airport was very good. Staff on collecting and returning the vehicle were very professional and helpful. The car had quite a few bumps and scratches but all were recorded. We have hired cars for many years whilst on holiday and we have found many companies to be pushy on additional insurance and for trying to highlight damage on the return of the vehicle. We always fully inspect the vehicle before we move it, taking photos and noting any un-recorded damage. We have used many car hire companies at Catania Airport with quite a few very poor experiences. Viaggiare are refreshing and have been the best. We have used them the last 2 years and will look to use them again next year
