VideoText turns video and audio into transcripts, subtitles and translations you can publish. It's an online transcription and subtitle tool for YouTubers and short-form creators, podcasters, educators and course creators, video editors, transcriptionists, agencies and marketing teams who work with spoken content every day and don't want to spend hours cleaning up captions.
You don't need any technical skills. Upload a video or audio file, such as an MP4, MOV or WebM, in your browser, review the result and download it. Your subtitle files work in YouTube, Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, CapCut and most other video editors.
What you can do with VideoText:
Video to transcript: turn interviews, lectures, meetings, podcasts and videos into text, and export it as TXT, DOCX or PDF. Choose timestamps every 30 seconds, on each segment, or none at all. Add names and specialist terms before you start so people, products and jargon are spelled the way you want. Pro adds speaker labels, so you can see who said what.
Video to subtitles: create SRT and VTT subtitle files timed to the speech. Before you publish, VideoText points out captions that are too fast to read or too short to follow.
Translate subtitles: translate subtitle files into 104 languages while keeping the original timing. Review the original and the translation side by side, with lines that run too long flagged for you.
Fix subtitles: repair broken SRT and VTT files with overlapping lines, bad timecodes, wrong numbering or lines too long to read. It's free with an account.
Burn captions into video: use Subtitle Style Studio's 12 ready-made styles, fonts that support Arabic, Devanagari and Chinese, and top, center or bottom placement. Vertical 9:16 clips for Shorts, Reels and TikTok stay intact.
Free browser tools: check a subtitle file with the Subtitle Validator, shift subtitle timing, convert ASS or SBV files to SRT, and count subtitle words, all without uploading anything.
My Projects: every job is saved, so you can come back, re-download and re-export anytime.
Common uses:
Captions and subtitles for YouTube videos and social clips
Transcripts of podcasts, interviews and webinars
Subtitles for online courses and training videos
Translated subtitles for viewers in other countries
Cleaning up subtitle files from other tools before delivering them to a client
Why people use VideoText: most subtitle problems aren't about creating captions, they're about cleaning them up. Captions run too long, timing drifts, files won't import, and translations lose their sync. VideoText puts transcription, subtitles, translation, repair and burned-in captions in one place, so you don't have to juggle several tools to finish one video.
Plans: start on the Free plan, which includes the free browser tools, and Fix Subtitles is free with an account. Pro is $14.99 a month or $120 a year. It includes 30 hours of speech processing every month, files up to 4 hours long, speaker labels and exports without a watermark.

I'm doing my PhD and sometimes record lectures so I can go back through them later. I tried VideoText's video-to-transcript tool, and it saved me a lot of time compared to taking notes manually. The speaker labels were especially helpful for separating the professor's explanations from class discussions, and I liked having formatting options to make the transcript easier to read. I still had to correct a few technical terms, but overall it made reviewing my lectures much easier. Really useful for students dealing with long class recordings.

Thank you, Vishnupriya! I'm glad the video-to-transcript tool and its speaker labels helped you review your PhD lectures. Thanks too for mentioning the technical terms you had to correct. If you have any more feedback, please email support@videotext.io.
I tried VideoText for generating subtitles and converting videos to text, and it was surprisingly easy to use. Just upload the video, wait for it to process, and download the result. No complicated setup.
The transcription was good, although a few words needed correcting, which is pretty normal with AI tools. I also liked being able to edit subtitles and export them as SRT files.
Overall, it’s a useful tool that saves time, especially if you work with videos regularly. Definitely worth trying.
