Most disappointing company of 2022.
Most disappointing company of 2022.
We have some old Viners 1810 cutlery and it is fantastic, we've had it 5 years, it's both stylish and still in great nick.
We bought a new home a short while ago and finally pulled the trigger on some more cutlery, we made the mistake of buying Viners again. They no longer make quality 1810 cutlery, do NOT purchase.
Within 2 months our new Chelsea range of tableware is so pitted and rusted we've just thrown it out. This company used to make brilliant stuff, we've still got some(!) but now they are just milking the brand charging the same price until there is nothing left to milk.
Cow's dead people, time to move on. When shopping for cutlery always look for something marked 1810 for good quality.
Bad product, worse customer service
I bought a multi coloured chopping board and knife set. Before even using one of the boards, it cracked all the way down. I emailed the company, no response, I had to email a second time for them to respond. They asked me what email I used for my warranty (I wasn't asked to sign up for any kind of warranty when I bought them at all). Emailed back, and haven't had a response back yet (two months ago). Avoid this company, spend a little extra and get something of good quality and whose customer service cares about people.
Bought a 5 piece knife set
Bought a 5 piece knife set. Two have now broken. The quality is atrocious. One of them the blade come clean out the handle and it could be clearly seen that there is hardly any bond between the two - maybe 3-4mm at best. The second knife the tip has snapped off. Both are now in the bin and will be closely followed by the other three shortly. For less than 6 months old this clearly a poor manufacturer of knives so would advise you steer clear.
Viners used to be synonymous with quality but not so now
Bought Viners cutlery but developed rust spots within 1 month. Sent photos to customer service , rang twice, no useful response. Avoid
What happened to the Viners quality of old?
Purchased a Viners cutlery set and after a month the knives started showing signs if rust and pitting. I had to jump through hoops to prove the issue and purchase and the knives were replaced. A couple of months on and these knives are showing signs of rust and pitting. Viners were once considered a quality supplier so I don’t know what has gone wrong with their quality. I wonder if they are manufactured in China with Chinese quality inspections. Needless to say I won’t be purchasing Viners again. Such a shame!
Viners used to be good
Viners used to be a good company but have now completely removed their quality control.
3 identically named sets were purchased a few years apart. The first was perfect, identical shape, finish and weight. The second and third set were smaller with much rougher finishing. Finished shape, teeth on the knives, weight, finished shape and the finish/polish varied greatly within each set. The 'newer' sets are now showing signs of rust where the originals don't which proves a lower standard of steel used in their production.
If you purchase from Viners you are now only getting the name and not the quality they were famous for.
Awful. Very Disappointing
Purchased some Viners Studio cutlery, 3 packs of four place settings so spent over £150 and the knives have rusted and pitted badly. Contacted Viners and they said I must go to place of purchase. They said contact Viners and that without the packaging (I had the receipt!)
they couldn’t help. Viners didn’t reply to May last two e mails so looks like I’m stuck with them. I have some vintage Viners, same design but from the seventies and these are perfect. Viners quality and customer service is very poor. Sadly when I first bought the cutlery I gave it a good review! Should have waited.
Environmental terrorists
Viners use 1 piece of single use plastic PER UTENSIL, my 48 piece set had 48 individually wrapped pieces, a terrible waste.
Knife block purchased material around…
Knife block purchased material around the handles all peeling off and the pan set coating is also all peeling off leaving black material in food. Disgraceful,
Post-Sales & Customer Services Shambolic
Purchased a knife block set as a present for my partner which eroded within a matternof weeks. Viners offer a 10yr guarantee so mailed them to advise of the issue. The response i got was that nobody is in the spares dept to send me out a new block (funny how they're managing to fulfil new orders though).
After several weeks of promises they are now just ignoring any emails chasing up for resolution.
Only interested in new orders and not asfter sales. Buy a different brand!
Spot on Customer Service - better than the supermarket
Purchased a cutlery set from a green and yellow supermarket chain, discovered later that there were no forks in the box. Original sellers were not helpful what so ever and insisted I returned the item at the original store (which happens to be 400+ miles away).
Contacted Viners and explained the situation, no problem what so ever - Provided me with the missing items delivered to me and was with me within days.
Can't fault them!
Not impressed with pricing issue response.
I'm leaving a 2 star review despite the good quality of the products and speedy delivery. This is because the exact same current products (Viners Mayfair Table Forks & Knives @ £4 each) I bought recently can be found up to 50% cheaper on other sites such as charlies.co.uk at £1.99 each !! That's over £20 cheaper for the 10 pieces I bought. When I queried this with Viners I was told "We do advise retailers of a RRP but ultimately it is up to the retailer what price they sell them for."
My question is then, if other retailers can make a profit selling at 50% less than RRP, how much profit are Viners making? Viners have also said "We are very sorry that we are unable to assist you further in this instance."
Many would consider this sharp practice as a quick check of various retailers selling current Viners products show massive price differences in cutlery sets and individual pieces and I notice other reviews have experienced the same issue.
A £20 refund would have saved a poor review and as I don't like companies with the attitude that Viners have taken on this I'll never buy Viners again.
