Virgin Media’s mobile app has been broken for almost a year
Virgin Media’s mobile app has been broken for almost a year, and the most frustrating part is not the bug itself. It’s the complete lack of accountability. Core functions either don’t work or fail randomly. Logging in is unreliable. Bills don’t load properly. Support options inside the app are useless when the app itself is the problem.
What makes this worse is Virgin Media’s behaviour. They don’t acknowledge the issue publicly. They don’t provide timelines. They don’t respond meaningfully to customer complaints. Queries get ignored, deflected, or buried behind generic scripted replies. It gives the impression they are actively avoiding the problem rather than fixing it.
In 2026, a telecom company having a non-functional app for this long is inexcusable. The app is not some optional extra. It’s a core tool customers rely on to manage their account. Right now, it’s dead weight.
Virgin Media is very efficient at sending bills. They should try being equally efficient at fixing their own software and answering their customers.
Virgin media Mobile- Data speed
I signed up online for the 15 euro per month sim only deal. But the order was incomplete and there were problems with it. I called customer service and got through maybe after 30 mins and requested the service through the rep. The order was successful and i got the sim the next day.
I tried the service for about 8 days. There was only 4g speed available from virgin media(customer service confirmed). But the max data speed i got was only 60 mbps in Dublin.
They also dont have any add ons to add more data or make calls to India. So, i decided it wouldnt work for me and I withdrew from the contract.
I think if they had better data speeds and add ons to india, I would have committed to the contract.
THE WORST TECH SUPPORT EVER…
THE WORST TECH SUPPORT I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED IN 50 Years.
Have Business broadband. Constant dropping of signal. Reported 5 months ago and its still not fixed!
Tried complaining with COMREG which is a joke because as soon as COMREG are told by VM that its fixed, they close the case! Even without checking with the person who made the complaint.
I've caught them out many times not telling the truth. They are a horrible company to deal with. They are understaffed so trying to get somebody out to inspect takes literally weeks to month.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

Terrible experience
Terrible experience. Installer came to the apartment and couldn’t install my TV channels. While he was still there he directed me to call the 1908 number for help - he was apologetic but said that VM wouldn't let him call in errors.I have had a further 3 calls to 1908, waiting for 30 mins to speak to someone, then told to switch the box on and off again, the last instruction was that I hasn't left it off long enough, repeated what they said and it still didn't work. Ok now I want a refund on the bundle. But they want me to buy tv from another provider but keep their broadband. I want a refund on the bundle (I signed up with a single contractual agreement which they have not honoured) and they are insisting on charging me for broadband. All I wanted was a functioning box it is not too much to ask! I now have to go to regulators/small claims court. All was completely unnecessary if they just installed it properly.
Virgin Media.IE has some of the worst…
Virgin Media.IE has some of the worst customer support I have ever experienced. The waiting times to speak to someone are completely unreasonable — I was left on hold for an abnormal amount of time with no proper assistance.
Trying to cancel my subscription was even worse. The process is unnecessarily complicated and feels intentionally difficult. Instead of helping customers, they seem to make it as frustrating as possible to leave.
Overall, this has been a terrible experience from start to finish. I would strongly advise others to think twice before signing up. Save yourself the stress and avoid this company.
Very bad company
Very bad company , i m not recommending! I have a lot problem with home internet!
Absolute crap service.
Absolute crap service.
Mobile phone coverage and data dropped for 8 days and counting.
Customer service agent were unprofessional and incompetent.
They owned up to the fact that they made a mistake with the Account twice during this cycle.
Imagine 8 days with no phone service and still expected to pay ....what about the personal and work related impacts of having no service on our phones?
And the best part is that this issue has happened twice in the past 4 months!
After them recommending stupid actions to try and make the phone service come back they said they would have to transfer issue to another team and wait ANOTHER 3 TO 5 DAYS! So this would total a 11 to 13 days without phone service!
PATHETIC! The unprofessionalism is disgusting.
We are leaving this service.
What can you do to make it better Virgin? Hire COMPETENT workers and GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER with your service. Currently your service is pathetic. But I am well aware that this review will never be taken into account by virgin media because they have more money than God at this stage. Keep on frustrating customers you are doing a great job at that 👍🏻
My honest advice is DO NOT use Virgin media as your phone service. STAY AWAY if you value money and professionalism
They ripped me off !!!
They ripped me off !!!
They mostly sent unexplained bills although my SIM was a fixed contract of 16 Euros per month.
That company deserves to be closed down entirely.
I would give no stars if possible
I would give no stars if possible, they take forever to answer the phone and while in hold for 60+ minutes it keeps telling you troubleshoot on the app which baby the way is useless when you get through they are just as useless last time I got box changed my tv channels were gone for over 2 weeks got fibre installed on Thursday it's now Sunday still have no TV channels and no update since Friday they said 90% sure ir be done by Saturday if not be Monday we'll its Sunday now and nothing so I won't hold my breath there whole system is so frustrating they are absolutely useless if tv not back by Monday ill be cancelling
If I could give them a zero I would
If I could give them a zero I would. They should change the phrase Customer Care team to Customer Care person. A better chance of seeing Hayes commet then get to speak to someone in Virgin Media. Their mobile phone service is the equivalent of 2 tin cans and a piece of string. Would advise anyone to choose a different network.
Very bad Virgin Media customer service
Ordered virgin media broadband and tv last Thursday and still not connected today Tuesday. No communication from them, spent 1hr , 1.5hr, 1hr on phone trying to sort. I was told it could take up to 24hrs, then 48 hrs and then that they were working on it!!! Bad bad bad service so cancelling it now 😡
I wish I could give 0 stars
I wish I could give 0 stars. The worst customer support I have ever experienced. My contract is approaching maturity, however I am unable to provide the cancellation notice because I can only do so by calling the customer support and they keep directing me to the wrong team and then again back in the queue multiple times for a total of over 2 hours.
Support is crap - online system test outcome cannot be trusted
when the service is up it is good. when it goes down it takes days to rectify, and therein lies the problem. It is practically impossible for residential customers to report faults. Business can report faults online effectively, but residential customers are pointed to the phone 1908, which failed to connect from two different service providers.
Our service went down yesterday, most probably weather related here in Dublin. The neighbourhood WhatsApp is in a spin. I understand this can happen in a storm. What I cannot accept is the Virgin Media online system which asks for your account number so it can check the link returns green lights everywhere to say there is no outage. However, logging in to the router clearly shows that the internet is down. (did all the usual reboot etc etc)
Same happened last time, and if you try to pick it up with them afterwards theyt insist that the link was up and there must have been another problem on the premises. I guess that is one way to ensure that you are meeting your service uptime KPI's!!
Disgraceful contempt for customers
Absolutely useless to try to contact. Completely misleading statement on their website:
"Delivering exceptional customer services is our number one priority."
If being expected to wait in a queue for 50 minutes to speak with an advisor, or the chat bot saying they're too busy to deal with customers, is "exceptional" customer service, I wonder what poor service is like.
Disgraceful contempt for customers. It's the typical situation, milk the customers, fail to provide sufficient staff but charge plenty so that shareholders can be rewarded, while ignoring customers.
Poor customer service.
I took a contract on the 2 of December for self install, when the equipment arrived I discovered it wasn't comparable with the existing connection so I contacted virgin to arrange an engineer, they scheduled call out for 23 of December, on the afternoon of the 22 I got a call cancelling and rescheduling for the 20th of January, a further 27 days, when I tried to query it, I was told to contact virgin.
I did this that day and was assured even after repeatedly asking that no the engineer would still be arriving on the 23,so I took the day off and waited, no engineer, that day I called and cancelled my subscription making it clear I had been given assurances and I had lost a day's work from this, I also raised a complaint online and was told I would receive a response within 10 days.
I received an email with no details thanking me for my complaint and stating the matter had now been resolved.
That was all that was said nothing else.
Then on the 20th of January I received a txt saying my engineer would be arriving within the next hour to connect me, I had to phone this engineer and tell him that that contract had been cancelled on the 24th of December.
Very poor communication no customer care as far as I am concerned and an incredibly long time to expect to wait for a connection.
Pity really always thought virgin were generally dependable with a good level of service.
do something about your long phone waits or get an email addressat
I phoned Virgin Media Ireland today and had to wait over 30 minutes which is quite ridiculous. Anyway I then spoke to the lovely Mia who was super helpful and accommodating and friendly and made my 1 star review move up to 4 stars!
Avoid like the plague!
Used switcher.ie to move to Virgin Broadband and cancelled within 24 hrs. They never contacted me to see when my current provider contract was finished - instead they immediately took over the line. Then after I cancelled, they never bothered to cancel the SIRO line activation, despite me phoning twice to confirm everything was done. So not only did they cost me 3 weeks of pre-paid broadband service, I am now without any broadband for close to a week, and I work from home.
Their customer service varies wildly from competent associates (Ky thank you for actually taking the 2 minutes to listen and help!) that understand the issue, follow-up and take corrective action, to the clueless that lack basic understanding of their own technical processes.
I can highly recommend Ivertec if you're looking to move - and have now moved to Vodafone whose customer service has been excellent so far!
Stay away from virgin at all costs
This service is the worst nation wide over an hour wait on the phone I’ve been a customer for over 3 years tired phoning in 3 days last week wait time over 1 hour the WiFi is rubbish the price is a joke and the mobile service is terrible stay away from
This company at all costs . You go to a store and staff are clueless and so unhelpful
Terrible
Terrible, terrible service. Drops to 3g / h every chance it gets and if you leave Ireland, you can forget about using your phone unless there's local WiFi wherever you are
